I designed rubber molds for an Aerospace company, the bloom you talk about is wax which is a by product of crude oil. Anything that removes wax will make your tires shine. (It takes +/- 7 gallons of oil to make a tire). 😊
Motomaster tire, Simoniz tire cleaner, WORX leaf blower… Yep, youre the standard Canadian shopping at Canadian Tire 😂 Good video- I find the Adam’s Wheel & Tire cleaner (available at CT :) ) are amazing at cleaning the tires especially!
Yeah, I have bought brand new tires that have this brown on them before they are even mounted. I have heard, and believe, that this is due to the lack of oil being added to the rubber during manufacturing. I have also experienced (in recent years) white walls that start turning brown within a week of cleaning and the only thing that I have found that would strip off the brown was scrubbing the whitewall with a pumice stone followed by treating them with bleach white. Everything just keeps being manufactured cheaper and costing us more!
Usually you check the manufacture date, if they have been in a warehouse a long time that might happen. I bought a new set about 10 years ago and three out of the four were manufactured at the same time, the fourth had been in a warehouse for almost 3 years. I made them find me a "new" tire. They were pretty annoyed with me, but I didn't care, I don't have $1200 to just throw around.
As I get older, I feel like this level of aesthetic maintenance isn't for me; drive the car a few times and it's time to do it again. That said, I'm glad knowledgeable creators like you are around to share for those who have the patience.
@@milfordcivic6755 that's a silly comparison. You keep yourself and your house clean for health reasons. Keeping your car basically clean is a practical matter, but anything beyond that is hardly as importance as hygiene LOL.
I’m the opposite! When i was young i was too busy to ever clean my tires. When i got older, i began to clean and dress my tires every other month (6 times per year). I prefer Adams products (wheel & tire cleaner + Graphene dressing).

Spray nine works great too. Spray nine and a med stiffness drill brush on low speed makes quick work on removing the brown color. It also removes brake dust from wheels too. Do not leave it dry, rinse well after scrubbing.
Adams APC is my go to for cleaning tires, removes the blooming in one shot every time. Follow with nice non-silicone tire dressing for non-sling satin finish.
I use P&S brake buster and it seems to get the bloom off in one or maybe two treatments from my experience with once usually doing it for me but I do a second application once in a while and especially the first time to make sure it’s gone.
Great video....love your tires btw,I have the same ones for my F150. Are you still happy with them? You should consider doing a long term review on them.I love them
@CanadianGearhead mine are great,I tried them early winter to see how they were, they were just ok,so I put my winter tires on immediately after. No comparison to a true winter tire.
I've used spray nine and a scrub brush for over 15 years, works great. Rinse with some clean water, let dry and you have a slightly dull colored clean tire. Never bothered with tire shine, all it did in the end was crack the sidewalls on an otherwise useful set of tires.😢😢
Any dedicated tire cleaner will do the trick - I was using a Simoniz one from Canadian Tire here. For compressed air you can just use your leaf blower!
@@CanadianGearhead I don’t have a leaf blower have been in the market for one to dry cars but that one looks slim and compact compared to what I’ve seen
A couple thoughts: You really don't need a separate tire cleaner, your wheel cleaner will work just fine. You can apply the tire dressing at any time without overspray ruining the look of your just washed/waxed vehicle. Get a smaller natural bristle paint brush, spray it instead of the tire, use it to apply the tire dressing. Yes, this will take longer but the results are the same as the video application methods and this can be done at any time without overspray issues.
I was referring to washing the wheels/tires needing to be done before the rest of the truck and it depends on the wheel cleaner you're using - some are acid based which isn't great for the tire and some are nothing more than repackaged iron/fallout removers.
My pirelli tires in my SUV are brown all the time. Pain in the ass lits of work. Makes sence since my michelins had lots of tread but had weather cracks everywhere. Failed state inspection.
Those tire cleaners are basically degreasers. I use Purple Power Cleaner Degreaser. It cuts the brown quickly. And I think it's cheaper than the specially, specific tire cleaners. Of course, the best cleaner is running through the sand dunes. It buffs them real nice.
Duragloss whitewall tire cleaner removes all the bloom and tire dressing off my truck, no problem. After Black Magic bought Wesley's 20 years ago, they chsnged the formula and it never worked well afterwards.
Should of mentioned to NOT dunk the brush in a bucket between scrubs. Just rinse it off with a hose. The silicones and grime from previous dressing will coat the bucket and kill any suds you try to make when washing the car, and redeposit themselves on the tire, giving you more work. Repeat until the foam stays white.
I have been using tire cleaner for years, but the cleaner is not working on my new car tires, I have cleaned them several times using two different cleaners.
