Plastic Carburetor, Repair It For FREE. Craftsman Push Lawn Mower with Briggs and Stratton Engine

  • Easy Step by Step DIY video with simple detail to repair your Plastic Carburetor For FREE. Craftsman Push Lawn Mower with Briggs and Stratton Engine No Start. We also cover checking fire and what to look for when the coil isn't firing. Always check the choke on the plastic carburetors to make sure it is closed when engine is cold.
The plastic carbs that have a primer ball on the air cleaner operate a little different. If it doesn't push fuel from the bowl into the throat of the carburetor it is probably due to a warped air cleaner base not sealing to the carburetor face. This style primer usually has a hole in the center because it just pushes air into the carb bowl forcing fuel up though the main jet tube into the throat of the carb.
Another quick way to check for fire and compression at the same time is to spray some brake cleaner or carb cleaner into the throat of the carb and try to start. If it runs and dies it is a carburetor or fuel issue even possibly water in the fuel.

My 2 year old Toro self-propelled mower kept stalling. I replaced air filter, gas cap (no vapor lock), cleaned carb just like you did, cleaned gas tank, replaced gas and spark plug ( it was fouled black sooty). Carb was clean, no dirt no clog.
It still stalled just as bad. Then I tightened the self-propell cable. Now it runs like a demon! No stalling, no carbon fouling. Starts right up.
All because of that cable being a bit slack.

I got a Walmart return one time in a lot of push mowers , it was a new mower and cleaned the plastic carb a couple of times . It had a miss that just couldn't get out , ordered a new cheap Carb from Amazon and installed it - it fixed the miss . I sold as an almost new push mower , so didn't mind putting a new carb on it . I've worked on a lot of these plastic carb's and 99% time just dirty .

T Bone one of your best videos yet. Excellent video quality with new camera (was it mounted to your head?) and good camera angles and inserts with very good quality audio. 100% accurate detailed information provided BRAVO! The only thing i would add it that we always pressure test the carb with our pressure gauge test tool to ensure needle valve sealing when it is upside down prior to reinstallation, then we fill with fuel to see if it leaks (basically bench testing) before installing the air filter housing.

Excellent, thoughtfully produced video. The fuel cap on my mower was a pos, always collecting dirt around the lip. After doing this same procedure twice this summer, a third stall out on a customers yard lead my to a different solution. I beat the sht out of the mower with a hammer, rendering it inop. My heart thanks me every day. I don't have time to deal with trash out in the field. I'm always careful refueling, have never had any problems except with these modern, over engineered piles of garbage.
