May I suggest a video on controlling a characters age. I find with a lot of sculpts my guys always look between 30-45.
Sometimes I want a character to look older or younger than I have represented with my painting. What kind of tricks can I employ to do so other than darkening eyes/cheeks for example?

Try going harsher or softer on your contrast between shadows and highlights, more contrast for older, less for younger? It should make the skin look looser or tighter, respectively.

One thing I'd really like to see is fabric textures. Like how to paint so something looks like leather and how that differs from painting a fine cloak etc.
personally, i would love to see more of your tmm approach, especially on armors. there are no videos abt tmm made by pros :). all are caught in nmm mode

White on the bottom then adding color is a solid tip.
This is what I love about Trovarion. I have been painting since the 90's, but this guy makes me understand WHY we paint how we do. I ahve leant more about painting and color theory wahthing his videos than I have done in 25 year before! Check out his video on why we push contrast the way we do on minis.

I am working on a mini (a gift for a friend to help him celebrate beating cancer) and I was able to do a more-than-decent "power sword" thanks in no small part to your videos on the subject (I watched a LOT of videos on that....) and this video is an awesome inspiration to also add a gem effect to the figure!
This is great. I really liked the analysis of the actual gem - something I've not seen before. It makes painting it more obvious when you know what you're trying to replicate. I wonder if that's a series of short videos you could look to do. Essentially replicate something real in paint - I've often seen the advice to use real world reference, but breaking that down into how that would be done and extracting the core information from the real life item would be good.
I think a lot of people would like to see maybe how to paint fire, where it is the brightest, how it would cast light. I think it could fit into 3 minutes and would be super helpful. Loved this!

My suggestion: how to paint ultra-realistic heavily-rusted iron (ie: how to paint irreparably damaged, pitted, flaking, rotting iron covered by bright orange rust). I'm planning on doing this with my Ironjawz, so a 3 minute video on it from you would be a dream come true.

What should the consistency of paint be? Water-to-paint ratio? Do you thin with water or medium? When should I use them? When *shouldn't* I use them? How to prevent staining and a darker ring around the glazed area? Can I glaze with any color? Teach me, master!

I would love some technique for painting fur. All I do rn is some wet blending to get a transition, a wet brushing to get some rough highlights and then some normal drybrushing after. It looks ok but only for tabletop standard, dont know how to paint display fur, though :/
I was always intimidated by the blending. But just trying with a few very course layers works perfectly for quick gems, especially the small little ones.

Would you add gloss varnish pn thr gems? Or is that destroying the "fake reflection" you painted?
Suggestion: Can you demonstrate how to decide on how much highlight vs shadow to apply on surfaces to get it to read as the midtone color? Right now I'm painting a bunch of large flat and curved panels and struggling to get it to read right... Or how I would like it to be.

I don't. But you can do whatever you want :)
Generally I find that gloss makes it look better in person, but leaving it matte makes it photograph better. Experiment and choose accordingly!
Its interesting how much more "correct" the gem looked when you had the lightsource to the top right, rather than directly down on the topside of the gem.
cos you are never standing directly under the sun irl, its always angled a bit

I've got a question for trov or anyone that can help im glueing the head of my new guilliman together and some of the tamiya glue ran over his right eye and its kinda melted it a bit before I could save it which is very annoying but I've decided to go with it and try make it like damage to the helmet. my question is how do I change it or make it look like damage is there a best thing to do? or should I just leave that
Depends on the ammount of damage and how much work you want to invest

They can be either, especially since colored lenses can refract light a lot like a gem would

The green gems looked particularly believable, especially considering they were placed next to a green glow! Did you avoid pure white on all but the reflection on the gem?

yes, I don't use any white for the other parts - you can compare it to where I show the red glass bead, it turns orange in the brightest parts, but never goes white really. That way the white reflection on top stands out more too.
