I wouldn’t say she had an eating disorder, but definitely doesn’t have a healthy relationship with food and she’s was using pills, but there wasn’t any indication; it just pills. Yes, having and ed can be many things, but we shouldn’t just judge on what we see and he didn’t tell us as it still is extreme dieting with pills.

    • @ruby-maelynn4216

@@YourMoonJoy yes and no. I totally agree with everything you’re saying. However, having an eating disorder is a really big thing to accuse someone of having. It’s one thing to extreme diet and it’s another thing to have an eating disorder. I guess they struggle so much with losing weight they look towards pills as it seems to be an Easy way out. It’s typical with diets that you gain weight, because it simply isn’t sustainable you either change your lifestyle or you carry on with what ever you were doing. He may or may not binge and restrict himself, but it might not be something as serious as an Ed, but simply just laziness in wanting to lose weight. If he really wanted to be wouldn’t go on stupid diets that lead him to just gain more weight in the long run.
Personally, I see this as extreme dieting and not an eating disorder as everyone has the mindset of wanting to lose weight and be the perfect version of themselves.
Some take it to the extreme, and sadly I am one of those people :/

That's great if your goal is to be healthier, but you won't improve your weight unless you reduce your caloric intake. It's literally just a case of calories in/calories out. People have lost weight eating junk simply because they were only eating like 800 calories a day. Eating healthier will help since healthy foods tend to be lower in calories by default.

Ellin Louise Miller Snoxell hi, I’m actually in recovery for bulimia and have had an eating disorder since I was 15 and I am now 26. I totally get what you’re saying but it doesn’t change the true fact that the right ‘diet’ is a mindset. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating well and being active. Getting out of your own head and thinking rationally is the only way out I’ve found. I wish you the best if you’re recovering or suffering you’re not alone xx

When your 'stuck' in the perception of not looking as you want to its hard to act rationally around just eating healthy as i ate healthy but i still had/ have a derogatory perception of the way i look and its hard to get out of that mindset once your in it. I see a lot of comments here about how to Diet or not to Diet. I believe this is not the real problem here. You know, what really helps if you know someone who's having eating disorder, you need to be suportive to this person and show true love.
If everyone around Tom's sister would have been more gentle toward Bethany and tried to help her up instead of putting her down, she wouldn't have done all this.
Be kind to each other and try to help those you love. Think about what is good for them, not about what is good for you.

Some of these comments are annoying. We all know the way to maintain a healthy weight is by healthy eating and exercise, but when you have an eating disorder your thoughts about food and your body are warped and you’ll do things that basically damage your body and mind.
You’ll have a voice in your head telling you not to eat certain things or not at all. On the days you lose control, you’ll feel disgusted and guilty about it which means sometimes you try throw up everything you’ve ate. I could go on, but I won’t.
Maybe do your research on eating disorders before trying to sound like a world class dietician in the comment section. Smh.

My self control goes out the window any time I'm around junk food, so I have to simply NOT allow myself to buy it, spending as little time in those aisles in the store as possible. I heard this thing once on a program that my mum put on TV that went a little like "It is 10 times harder to stop yourself at home than it is at the supermarket" with reference to buying and eating junk food and that really stuck in my mind.
After a while it seemed fairly easy for me to keep up this behaviour but who knows I might have been lucky.
If you want any information about my diet just let me know and I'll tell you.

DNP (dinitrophenol) works by inhibiting the production of ATP in the mitochondria, which has the effect of massively reducing the efficiency of energy production in the body. The result is that the body tends to use up much more of its energy reserves than it normally would and weight loss usually results. The chemical was in fact used for a limited time as an obesity treatment in the '1930s but was abandoned as it was very difficult to safely use. It can cause dramatic weight loss, but it is extremely potent and has a high toxicity, so it is very difficult to dose safely; there is also no antidote for it and taking slightly too much can cause a lethal increase in body temperature which is very hard to reverse or control. Best left alone.

An eating disorder is not an extreme diet. It’s a mental illness. But boyyyy can dieting to the “extreme” trigger it, it’s fuelled by bad body imagine and just turns into a monster, or it did for me. It nearly killed me. My body will never be the same; I’ve completely ruined my metabolism, my fertility, my hair, my hunger cues. I’ll never be able to view myself without distortion, and never be able to think about food like a regular person. That’s what I’ve got to carry now, even two years into recovery. I’m much happier now, but the effects are still there.

I think it makes a difference that they are both very young. Talking about death is really flippant when you’re young enough not to really believe you are going to die. I mean of course you can experience loved ones dying from a young age, but you don’t truly believe it’s going to happen to you when you’re that age. You feel immortal.

Because they brought in someone who was unreliable to them. Idk how much is cut in the scenes but he didn't actually talk much about his sister so it wasn't as emotionally impactful on them.

I DO sympathise.... but rather than dive head on into a trendy DIET -STUDY WTF your body needs, and HOW IT WORKS. THEN study how to OPTIMISE what it does and how it works. A DIET is a LIFESTYLE FOREVER -it's not the temporary thing for just before a wedding (which you can do, but please don't.) God Bless y'all -and hold for a couple of months, I'm coming out with a revolution for your PALATE, to help you change your lifestyle. FOR BETTER, FOR EVER.

Just in case: you don’t need crash diets or magic pills, that’s actually a way to never successfully loose weight. In order to be healthy with your weight, you need to learn basic nutrition and change your habits: that doesn’t mean hunger, or never eating an ice cream again(those things are not healthy)or whatever dieting industry tells you so. Find the right dietician, if you
Can’t see a profesional: cook at home, measure your portions, plenty of fruits veggies and legumes, and you will be ok 🥰

This network is just as terrible as what happened to the victims in these episodes. You really could have done good with this series, but you chose to be extremely deceptive. Do you realize that you can RUIN people’s lives by doing this? I’m sure you got them to sign a contract to make this legal, but how can you sleep at night? Where are your morals? It’s all about the money. Karma is nasty.

How could you have such little respect and value for YOUR OWN LIFE, that you are willing to potentially destroy it, just to be a bit thinner?? OK. You are struggling with weight. There are far better ways of doing it. Diet and exercise. Being thin is a lifestyle of learned behaviour. There is never a quick fix!!!
