- In 2012 Naomi Oni was attacked with sulphuric acid after being stalked through London by someone disguised in a niqab. Since 2012 acid attacks have doubled in the UK. Now two acid attacks are carried out in the UK every single day, with 450 occurring each year in London alone.
Known as ‘Face Melters’, corrosive liquids have replaced knives as the weapon of choice for gangs and others wanting to inflict maximum damage on their unsuspecting victims.
The physical and psychological effects of these attacks are devastating. In an instant, a victim’s life is irreversibly transformed, as are the lives of their family, children and partners.
This powerful BBC Three film reveals the story behind one of the most shocking and bizarre acid attacks of recent years. It’s a twisted story of betrayal and deceit. The film combines archive footage, and stylised recon with interviews with the victim, police, the medics who continue to treat her, and her family and friends.

I’ve actually STOPPED being friends with two women when I noticed jealousy because it’s dangerous and women will do some atrocities when they’re jealous. When you’re an unassuming person and don’t see yourself as this person who’s together or beautiful, that doesn’t mean others don’t see you as this fabulous person and want to ruin you. It’s sad….

I invested 200000 indian rupees for that , I came up to 0 . We know she's not going to get anything by that , but she did it for her ego satisfaction as I challenged her about our startup success . Her pride , jealous and ego . She might have money and her family may have good name society . She got a dark heart . had a 'friend' back in school who threatened to "bash" me if i didn't do something - i can't even remember what it was - and then she immediately backtracked and then tried to qualify it by saying "it was a joke." um, no. you don't even joke about "bashing" someone or putting hands on someone, period. i thought it was an unsettling remark at the time but now that i've grown older, i know it's totally unacceptable and i should've distanced myself more from her from that point and a few other questionable interactions with her. she did look like she wanted to whack me a few times in the face too but she never went ahead with it cos there was always people around.

@@NoName-mm6gh I guess it’s up to each individual and how superficial they are which dictates how shallow they are as a person. This guides their own perception on their own value of beauty. The other thing is levels of self esteem and self love. Some people look outwards (material things and compare themselves to others) and some look inwards (how much do i love myself?what is my worth/purpose on this earth?). What happens a lot is, people look inwards and aren’t happy with themselves (ie. low self esteem), so then they begin looking outwards to superficial things and physical ideals of beauty and hold those things higher up on the totem pole than others, which is what IG and all these social media apps thrive on. It’s just what i think.

“Hidden jealousy” is not really hidden. Pay attention to so called friends underhanded compliments, a compliment that’s really a criticism; how they react when something good happens for you, when you’re being complimented by others and so on.
