This game was part of my childhood, all my friends played it. I could play it for hours and not get tired of it and be even more excited to play it the next day. The community, the custom games, everything about halo 2 was amazing. I hope Halo 4 can bring somewhat of the same experience.
Ah Halo 2. It's sad this game is gone, and it's sad that, for me at least, after Halo 3 and other games came out I just couldn't enjoy this game to the same extent I could when I was 13-14 years old. This is how you make a multiplayer game. If Halo 2 were to ever come back, it would bring all of us old-school Live players back together. It would bring us back to our roots since most of us started on Halo 2.

Dude they will have every halo 2 map in the mcc completely unchanged for you to play. I've already seen what the anniversary multiplayer is going to look like and I think it looks pretty good, but if you don't like it they still have the original.
Christian Dedmon Don't be worried. They've promised it over and over. And they've also shown screen shots of halo 1 in the mcc. It looks exactly the same except for the fact that it's 1080p.
They're becoming more "community oriented." If we give them advice on their game, they will try to take it into account. Sure, they weren't like this during halo 4's development, but most of them hadn't worked with halo's community before. Now that they've had more experience, they'll be a lot better from now on.

Halo 2 is a sequel in all aspects as a sequel should be to any video game. New weapons, dual wielding, new maps/map design (Not so many of the symmetrical/mirrored maps that felt like Quake-esq maps), new game modes, a new campaign that is a continuation to Halo CE, online multiplayer and system link, custom games, even DLC maps were released later on down the road. If you liked Halo CE, you'd have fun with Halo 2, and Halo 3 especially to round off the amazing trilogy. Halo 2 is quite old now, and the online multiplayer for the original Xbox and Vista versions was shut down years back. The Original Xbox version can still technically be played online by using a program such as Xlink Kai to play system link games online with some port forwarding. In the future, it'll most likely be possible to play Halo 2's multiplayer again properly on the Original Xbox when Insignia gets a public release (Insignia is a project being worked on the re-implement Xbox Live to the Original Xbox). Halo 2 Vista can still be played online with Halo 2 Project Cartographer, and works on any modern day Windows computer, plus since Halo 2 Vista is abandonware you can find it free on certain places (I'm quite sure Halo 2 Project Cartographer will provide a copy/link for it). Worse comes to worse though, Halo 2 is included in Halo: The Master Chief Collection which is on PC and Xbox. However, all of the Halo games included in Halo: The Master Chief Collection aren't exactly 1:1 with the original releases, and there are some issues/differences and questionable added content by 343 Industries (The company that now makes Halo games). However, most of the issues/differences or added content are mainly effecting the multiplayer aspects of the game. If you can, at the very least play the campaigns of the games on their original releases (Halo 2 on the original Xbox, if not then play Halo 2 Vista. Then for Halo 3, play it on the Xbox 360 or on the Xbox One via the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility). If you can't play online with those versions, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will work just fine, though as I said, it isn't perfect. Don't let that stop you from enjoying it though! Hopefully this helps out a bit, I know your comment is two months old and maybe you already know most of all of this. Either way, enjoy some classic Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3! They're great!

@@hansisraelson7032 I haven't played Custom Edition for multiplayer since 2015, and the last time I played Custom Edition in general was to play project Lumoria, which was still a few years ago. I just remember most servers were either playing Infection or some modified CTF gamemode where all you had was a rocket launcher and a sniper, causing these long never ending matches. I always thought out of all the Halo games, CE had the best, most well-balanced campaign that was just amazing on Legendary. Multiplayer was fun but to me in it, but Halo 3 really perfected and balanced out the online components of what should be a Halo game. I'll have to re-install Combat Evolved or Custom Edition to see what servers are up these days. And yeah, there will always be annoying people in a multiplayer game, but hey it isn't really an online experience without them LMAO. Plus, it's always fun to troll them back a bit or just completely stomp them match after match. That's the beauty of an online game. Hopefully you're able to try out Halo 2 and 3 at some point, who knows if you'll like them better or not!

Essentially the Halo CE HUD was more complicated than it was easy, and with the removal of "health packs", they thought it would be easier to bundle your health "with" the motion tracker so that players who are new to the game, who jump into online matchmaking, have a greater understanding of your shielding and enemy location. In Halo 3, they chose a slightly different approach, which is where the center shield bar comes from. This approach was to remove clutter from the screen and it provided a more readable area for shielding. This trend continued onward and was innovated on to find a fine line between aesthetically pleasing and information provided to the player. Including the "play inside shield" effects in the campaigns of later entries. Older comment, but hey, the more you know.
As far as "why" they had the same Halo CE HUD during alpha and beta, it primarily was due to utilizing different assets. HUD changes didn't apply until much later into development, around the finalization of multiplayer for Halo 2. A lot of those changes were done to provide player feedback and capability of understanding "What is happening in the match" since now it's going to be online (opposed to next to someone else who may know how to play).

Like so many others these days, you base a game's level of fun on skill. Halo 2 was back when skill wasn't that important. Win or lose, 90% of the time you had fun. People didn't care too much about fun; they just wanted to play and have a good time.
the days of going to your buddys house to play video games together is virtually gone, now if you do it will be one person online while the others watch, which sucks, i remember, just like many other people, going to play golden eye at a friends house and ended up staying for a couple of hours
hopefully the master chief collection allows us to relive some of the insane halo 2 experience. greatest multiplayer game ever. cant believe its been almost 10 years..
Yeah they totally dropped the ball on MCC.. atleast it's somewhat playable but it could've been so much better. sad they 343 gave up and abandoned it so quickly. but i still play it couple times a week and am able to find games quickly. better than nothing!
