Halo 3 came out in an era that revolutionized couch gaming. I still fondly remember all of my friends and neighbors buying an Xbox 360 and a copy of Halo 3. Every weekend we would go to each others' houses just play Halo 3. All of the laughs, the pizza, and hours of fun. I don't think we will ever experience gaming as wholesome and interpersonal as the era of Halo 3 gaming. With online gaming and the disappearance of 4 player split screen, people nowadays won't nearly have the same experience with a first person shooter.
Considering Microsoft new game plan is for their too be multiple consoles in the house just to play a single game. We may never return to the way things are. It is truly a quantity over quality scenario

Plus I had no friends that played halo3 so it was all depending on how much fun I had with the game and not how much fun I had with people. Halo3 is a great competitive game but as a casual player I will most likely pass. And the lag in that game was the worst in the series.

jeremiah edgar depends what halo are we talking about? Halo 1 to 3 are great titanfall 2 matches those 3 and 4 and most likely infinity really bad titanfall 1
2 was ways my favourite because I never had the chance to really experience the multiplayer side of halo. I was young and my dad, a single parent, couldn't often afford gold, so I rarely got the chance to play games online till later on in my life. Also I didn't have friends for the splitscreen. 3 is an amazing game though, and I still have fond memories of the campaign. Seeing dinosaur man again at the start and the way him and green man interact was just amazing.

I was 5 years old when Halo Combat Evolved came out. It took me a few years of my early youth. But I beat the game. And I remember the day Halo 2 came out. Later my cousin and I stayed up all night to beat the Campaign. It was probably the first time in my life I ever stayed up past midnight. Then Halo 3 came out. That was when I first got Xbox Live. Oh my god the Custom Games. The endless hours of fun. The trash talking. All the cool file share clips and maps. It was unparalleled. I really got to see the beginning and end of an era. I couldn't be more thankful to be a part of it.
There is somewhat of a revival of Halo 3 happening with its release on PC! And now the modding community is also getting involved! It really feels like old times. Why not getting in touch with the pals for a few matches online or playing through the campaign?
ImViruxx maybe but in an interview they hinted at staying true to the “original” art style Either way halo 1,2 and 3 have legendary styles sooooo all good either way 🙌
TubeSteakDrake Tinfoil hat time: 343 didn’t remaster Halo 3 because in doing so it would instantly render anything else 343 would make obsolete and instantly declare them dead upon release.
My dad and I used to play on the Xbox right? Back in school he used to play Halo and when his dad would come to his dorm or whatever he would watch them play Halo. My Grandpa years and years later I believe must have assumed my dad still played it or whatever and got him those Megaconstrux blind bags. My dad gave them to me and I was mind blown by the cool soldiers and my dad taught me about Halo and how awesome it was + I could only play it when I was 11. Then one day I found Halo 3 in our movie DVD cabinet with the green super guy on the front and played it. My dad taught me secrets and cool stuff in the game and Halo 3 brought me into the Halo world.
100% agree with everything you said, My short lived TH-cam career started and died with Halo3, Theatre mode is still to this day the best theatre mode ever and the community is something that has never been matched, I blame party chat for that cause back then you had no choice but to be in game chat and talk to your team (unless you were in private chat with one other person), I remember having over 3000 custom games played. Miss those days.

Remember when every other game coming out at the same time was going to "destroy" Halo 3? Still waiting till this day, not even Bungie themselves was able to create a successor to it.
@Alejandro Sosa True, both of those are also great and in some categories even better with each leaving their marks in Gaming. But Halo 3 managed to do many things that we hadn't seen yet on Consoles all in one game. Gears 3 managed to get it right by having the best of the previous 2 but it still fell short when comparing it to the number of features that a game released 4 years prior to it had. As for CS, looking at the Console Port(to be fair) it doesn't come anywhere close to how it holds up on PC.
Honestly I teared up watching this. If this game was released today EXACTLY how it was graphics and all I guarantee you EVERYONE would be playing right now. Great now im sad.
Idk, the gaming community has changed too. Gamers aren't as social as they used to be and most only care about competition, so I doubt it would be as popular or fun as it was back in 2007.
@Montes Romero i mean look at the top games nowadays, idk if it would reach the top, but it defiantly would have a really good reputation and loyal community, but not as big as games like fortnite
@Montes Romero nah it wouldn't even be close. Warzone can't even dethrone Fortnite, so Halo 100% wouldn't. Plus if this was released now it probs would just be your average game, but obviously back then Halo was revolutionary just like Cod 4 and gears of war.
Fortnite is trash. The majority of its player base is children and its popularity died REALLY fast. I’m don’t see very many videos or people talking about fortnite anymore. Except for the memes about the game. War zone isn’t near as fun as Halo. I’ve played it a bit and not only is the file size WAY to big, but it also doesn’t have the same replayability as Halo. When Halo Infinite comes out, I totally won’t be surprised if it completely destroys games like fortnite or war zone in terms of popularity. Even people who don’t play halo are getting excited about it.
Dude I still remember playing Halo 3 on release day. My friend and I went to GameCrazy after school to pick it up. He had an Xbox 360 and I didn’t and my day had an hdtv, which at the time in 2007 almost no one we knew had a flat screen hdtv. We went and picked up his xbox after we got the game and went to my house. Bro when we booted up Halo 3 and started the first mission I was blown away. The atmosphere and graphics were so immersive at the time. I bought a 360 just for Halo 3 it was that good.
The Halo franchise will always have a special place in my childhood. I remember always spending weekends with my cousins just playing competitive or casual Halo. I’d make tons of Custom game modes and just play custom games with them. Years past and with the newest Halo games, the feeling isn’t there. We still play together with Halo 3, Reach, and sometimes 4.
For some reason when I was really little,I played Halo Reach and it became my favorite in the series. I never knew why,all I remembered was some guy died and it was sad. So I'm going to play it to see why
Halo is a series I fell in love with ages ago…… the universe captivates me more so than even Star Wars. I know almost too much about this game’s lore and story. I even learned how to damn near perfectly mimic the gravemind’s voice just using my voice alone. I forged my code of honor based on sangheili traditions. I would do ANYTHING to be a part of the universe I fell in love with all those years ago as a bright eyed child playing halo 1 for the first time. My devotion to this beautiful series will not fade for I love it too much.
As a kid I always thought The arbiter said “asshole, you must be silenced” and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then I realised what he actually said and it’s honestly way cooler and left me feeling like an idiot lol

I think the biggest take away from halo 3 was the armor, i miss seeing stuff that would tell you how much of a badass you were not how much $$$ you’re willing to drop. When you saw someone with katana armor you knew they were at least veterans and flaming recon helmets were seen as legendary players like halo 3s version of super saiyans if you saw a flaming helmet in your game you knew you would be carried or get destroyed I miss stuff like that In video games
The ever-evasive Security Helmet, holy crap I was so excited when I finally unlocked it. Remember the IcanHasRecon memes. ? I only had 2 or 3 games where we saw Bungie employees with Flaming Recon.
I’m here in 2023 and must say, despite all the games I’ve played since 2007, Halo 3 is undoubtedly one of the best ever. Pure passion from its developers, they really hit it off and halo at its peak was a phenomenon of its own, like a massive sporting event. No game has lived up to it besides the OG MW2.
Anonymous 1010, yeah, that was one criticism I might’ve had with this video. Reach’s Forge was a lot more fun, especially with the addition of Forge World, where you could build almost anything you wanted. - Alpha Wolf
Night Wolf Studios Reach Forge was much more versatile and actually functional to use, but Halo 3 Forge had what I like to call “Dumbass Novelty Bullshit” where when you find a really bangin map and find out the Creator had to force physics to make boxes and crates float as platforms by stacking hundreds of boxes on top of of one another. Or when you decide you don’t want the elephants anymore so you load them with constantly respawning explosive barrels and make them fly. It was incredible amounts of dumb but I loved it
When I was growing up I didn't play a lot of shooters, was more of a JRPG guy. All my buddies were into Halo so I jumped in on Halo 3. I was horrible at it, especially the multiplayer. My buddy saw my frustration and helped me learn by making me play hours and hours of SWAT. Halo 3 SWAT helped me learn an entire genre of game, making it the best FPS ever created.
this game literally had the best everything. Best Campaign, best multiplier, best buddies, and god the easter eggs. I remember finding out about them and trying to find every single one with my friend. good times.

>I was 5 years old when Halo Combat Evolved came out.
Same.
There is somewhat of a revival of Halo 3 happening with its release on PC! And now the modding community is also getting involved! It really feels like old times. Why not getting in touch with the pals for a few matches online or playing through the campaign?

The Only reason 343 didn’t make a halo 3 anniversary was because it was to perfect for them to touch
ImViruxx halo infinite is based of Halo 1s art style so expect halo one structures, armour etc
ImViruxx maybe but in an interview they hinted at staying true to the “original” art style
Either way halo 1,2 and 3 have legendary styles sooooo all good either way 🙌
exactly!
CE and 2 didn't need that. What they added (better graphics, terminals, online, etc) were already in H 3
Both Halo 3 and Halo Reach were masterpieces in my opinion.

So... do people still play Halo 3 online?
I still play on my 360 .
Even if halo wasnt you main game. The Halo 3 era of gaming was indeed the best there ever was. Putting it ober all my offline game memories even.
@Montes Romero nah i find arma 3 to be much better but id say second or third shooter game
Good old times bro
The bungie halo games were so good, it's a shame that the franchise is now in a pit of hate. Thanks alot 343 you had to ruin my childhood

And Arby lets out a big boi victory scream.

Circletoons: Halo 3 had such an awsome forge, it was the best!
Halo Reach: Am I a joke to you?
It was incredible amounts of dumb but I loved it
I built mechagodzilla in halo reach forge but the world got deleted because of some file issue
well... yeah, Reach... you kind of are...
It was, but it was sooooooo grey
When I was growing up I didn't play a lot of shooters, was more of a JRPG guy. All my buddies were into Halo so I jumped in on Halo 3. I was horrible at it, especially the multiplayer. My buddy saw my frustration and helped me learn by making me play hours and hours of SWAT.
Halo 3 SWAT helped me learn an entire genre of game, making it the best FPS ever created.
