- EVO 2024 was this past weekend in Las Vegas and it gave fans of fighting games a lot to get excited about.
We saw titans solidify their grip on a new game, old demons were exorcized, and legends from the past came back to show off for the cameras.
In other words: it was awesome. So what did we learn?

Three Pakistani players joined evo and 2 of them are in the final and the other one was there because of Arslan and the opportunities he was able to provide for him. Dude's a legend no doubt. 5 evo titles in 7 years is insane.
Absolutely insane to won 5 times in 7 years at international level against the best players of the world. Arslan ash(inspired from Pokemon's main character ash) really deserves an anime of his own. True main character lore he's got 🔥...........
@@justamanofculture12 Animation Haram
Not 7 years - He participated in 7 EVOs and won 5 of them.
@@muhammadsheharyar999 His first evo win was 2019
@@muhammadsheharyar999 he started internationally in 2018
Arsalan ash is still keeping strong
That’s an understatement. He’s clearly the G.O.A.T
Arslan Ash is John Cena.
Pakistan gave up their skill in cricket to become the best in Tekken
Enjoyed street fighter but that Tekken match was fire! On the edge of my seat the entire match!
Pakistan > India.
Indians will just turn on word.exe to win.
Bottom left corner when Arslan Ash wins and pops off... guy in the black sweatshirt and green tshirt... that's me! Was so awesome to attend such a historic Evo!
What was the sentiment in the crowd after Atif beat Nobi? Dude seemed mad y'all were cheering Nobi on and turned to the crowd like, "What's wrong? Why're you quiet now?" 😂
Jeo shazaday
Punk finally getting his Evo trophy, Arslan cementing himself as the Modern Tekken goat once again _AND_ Leffen didn't even make Top 6 in Guilty Gear this year?
Yeah it was a great Evo, standing ovation for the best gaming tournament in the world.

You could hear the crowd cheering as Leffen lost during 3S’s top 6 lmao, that shit was GOLDEN. My friends and I were thinking “Leffen probably lost, wait for the tweet from him in about 3 minutes” and 3 minutes later there was a tweet from him.
atiff just ran over every body and it wasn't even close and the only person that gave atiff a really rough time was arslan, the other Pakistani player! that just shows how strong Pakistani tekken is and not to mention that there only 3 Pakistanis out of 4600 players and 2 of them made it to finals
Four actually. Arslan Ash, Atif, Farzeen, and The Jon.
@@loggiepoggieThe Jon was not there, you can see him and Khan in brackets but they did not got visa or just did not participated ...
4th pakistani was actually aqeel zahoor who travelled for the first time and could reach top 48 i guess.
@@ssg3605 Well that sucks. 2024 and we're still having Visa problems smh
as SWE said. Pakistanis are being launched punished by border patrol. hahaha
Arslan is just GOATED..
The bridge between Tekken 7 & Tekken 8 being Arslan Ash putting his foot in their ass
Nah if you actually watched all his sets they threw rounds for him, still pretty damn good but when you actually look there were so many rounds thrown clear as day they had ash but for some reason they throw a launching low or punishing move and they stop poking and pressure almost all o the fights do this go look at all his matches the worse one that was fishy was jdcr
@@123bboymeandyouso your theory is that every pro that has spent thier whole life learning the game in order to win EVO unanimously decided they don’t wanna do that anymore because Arslan Ash should instead? The LAST EVO of Tekkan 7?

Arslan ash's nickname "ash" is inspired from Pokemon's main character ash. We spent our childhood watching One piece, Dragon ball and Pokemon etc. That's our Lore lol. And as a Pakistani it really warms my heart at how main character like arslan ash is. Absolute domination at a Tekken 7 since his debut at international level. From a small town boy to the GOAT of tekken is something closer to a legend in Esports history. He deserves all the praise as he's worked harder and he's talented too. May Allah(SWT) give him even more success. Ameen.......
Thats just not true lol its bc one of his mains in Kof was ash
N9ooooooo9o....it's nef after a kof character named ash.....
I’m not a big Guilty Gear guy but not mentioning Nitro is crazy, bro was crazy as fuck during that run
It's a travesty, so many Evo and other major champs were kicked out in pools 2 or ended up on losers side. New blood were killing it and no mention? Shame...
T8 and Sf6 worth mentioning unlike the other games
Even MK was mentioned. I'm a bit disappointed GGST wasn't too.
Guilty Gear ? 🥱🥱🥱
They are clout chaser's they only talk about the most popular games on this channel, it has annoyed me for while now smh
Arsalan is Officially the GOAT of Tekken.
LilyPichu beating Harada was a great moment. Also, seeing Team Brawlpro from the Sajam Slam (without Super) restream w/ Evo production, both Tekken's top 6 and Street Fighter's top 6 was a great moment for me.
That rage art bro 💀
"I quit this game"
Speaking of Super, is there any statement on why he couldn't attend EVO?
I was the dude who was swinging his hat around when Hayao did the splits... the fact I get to be part of that man's cemented history in EVO and for EVO Moment 38 to be the next set... It was incredible to be there. By far, Hayao's Finals Run was my favorite part of EVO...
GOD I LOVE FIGHTING GAMES!
The most insane moment for me was Atif going 9-0 against Nobi in a mirror match, haven't seen dominance like that at top level
While I didn't do well at Evo, the experience of being there and seeing amazing gamers play makes up for it
The bright side is that THOUSANDS of people didn't do well at EVO. Half of the players had to go 0-2. I don't know how you did, but I'm sure a lot of people can relate.

@@NoName-cn3cp anyone can join any evo tournament if they pay up the fee.
Getting to actually SEE third strike ON THE MAIN STAGE at my first evo was absolutely amazing and I got see one of the most hype things ever with Hayao going off
arslan ash is an alien 👽 he is litterly not human 🔥🔥 Unbelievable 😮
❤🎉
2024 might have been the best Evo I've ever watched yet from all the hype tournaments, close sets that feature people from all over the world, kids as young as 17 reaching the top six (shout outs to EndWalker), and the return of a legend, who while struggling at first to adapt to the a new game, came in and swept the competition securing his fifth Evo in a row, _that's bloody nuts..._
Another underappreciated part of this Evo that more people should talk about is just how many side events there were, not just in terms of tournaments of other games, but also events where people and content creators got to do other stuff from the whole LilyPichu versus Harada match that was low-key, as hype as a grand finals set, to RDC1World throwing down with Afro Sanju at the venue purely to get his revenge based on the last few months where he was getting cooked by him online, It's so cool to me to see so many more people get into fighting games no matter background and if their presence is big from here and off in other categories, that's a whole new set of eyes into this genre we all love and no could rise up to be even bigger than it is before.
Oh, and All the announcements were absolutely crazy too, from the Guilty Gear Cyberpunk Trailer to of course, the big man himself who is too mad to die, Heihachi Mishima.
The sheer hype, confusion and even _fear_ we all felt watching that trailer live and everyone's reaction to that is something I won't forget anything soon.
Minor correction: It was Arslan's fifth EVO champion overall, not in a row, as he did not win the EVOJapan this year.
@@versaleyang Wouldn't have been in a row anyway because he didnt win LeroyVoJapan and was third in the Evo Vegas that year too, but he didn't even get to play in this year's Evo Japan because of visa so hard to hold that one against him.
Those side tournaments were a real treat to watch as well.... BBCF, ST, GGAC+R and Xrd were by far my favorites to watch at EVO ( in regards to side tournies
I think I probably say this every year, but this Evo was totally the best Evo. 😂👍
Sorry dont know any content creators and dont care about them
4:18 He was only ”video game dead”
Harada planned it like this because he knew people would absolutely flip out when Heihachi DLC drops.
Harada always messes with us, like when people were asking when Tekken 8 comes out, his answer was ”who says there will be a Tekken 8?”
Hahaha now that's Harada for you
Nah it’s cringe AF. I don’t get and don’t wanna get why PPL so hype about this. “Wow Heihachi is in tekken game so unexpected.” Cringe.
@@Rifterssssbecause they like the character
The only cringe thing is people crying about How "he was suposed to be dead for real this time, bro reeeeeeeeee
@@Rifterssss That’s because you don’t understand Tekken. Tekken is not Tekken without Heihachi. It would be like the show Friends without Joey.

100%. Man were pools sick as well. Honestly the most fun I've had watching EVO since Melee left the event.
@@SHlNRlKlARUwe gotta have an EVO Classics with these older games.
Punk was THE US player, you ask anyone who play Street fighter outside of the US amd they might not know duel Kevin nephew or nuckledu, but they will know who Punk is. Glad he finally brought home Evo and give the US their champion like people said he would 7 years ago. He went from The Kid from Philly to Mr.USA
I think you are a little bit overstating his popularity or non US players. But nontheless, while I don't like his content or often how he communicates, happy for him he got rid of the second place curse, he got the trophy he definitely deserves
For so many years, we basically said he was our only hope at getting a EVO.
and at the height of SF6 competition and popularity, he got us no.1
and he didn't do it with no gimmicky fighting style, he did it with pure honest heavy neutral play
Its the perfect win.
@@nekogami87 dude I was in the Japanese fgc and Taiwanese fgc, everyone knows punk, the only other player who has as close to the popularity that he has is Justin Wong
As a new sprout at tekken and complete noob at every other game, it was exciting to watch all the games this year
It only gets more hype with time man you picked a good time to get into fighting games
Watch Top 8 of 2018, best Evo ever
@@TheiDTZ 2018 and 2019 EVOs were peak Tekken
Man, and this is only the first year of Tekken which is known to be horribly unbalanced (T7 arcade was even worse balance-wise IMO).
T7 only became more hype in later seasons when they added new mechanics and balance updates.
It's only up from here.
Granblue Rising all 3 final matches ended 2-3; The final was a scramble for the last hit on sliver of health from both sides on the very last round. Crazy good.
Then Strive repeats that. Awesome close matches all the way in top 6; Grand final ends with last points of hp and a scramble.
Tekken 8 too. While it may have not been the very last round, combo that could very much kill - left Arslan's Nina alive and another scramble for the title. Wow. What a day.
(I haven't watched SF6 top 6. But KoF15 tournament was also amazing. Matches to the last character everywhere; nobody gives ground. Awesome)
You should definitely watch Uni 2's Top 6. I don't play Under-Night 2 or even the first game, but people got hype for Senaru
SF6 was also last last round too, pretty fkin close
(Mk1 was boring, mirror match xd)
GBFVS > SF6
Watch the uni top6 too, hype as hell
Evo’s hype is unmatched. Best (and biggest) tournament in gaming.
This year had many incredible matches & moments that shouldn’t be missed.
Even in a game he initially struggled heavily with, Arslan Ash is still, cementing a legacy of greatness, and I can't help respect him for it
Uni2 finals were insane. Sion (Eltnum) MAINS WE DO BE EATING GOOD, HEY HEY HEY HEY ~ RELOAD! ~🗣🔥🔥
I dont play uni but that finals was pretty hype
Very very happy that not only was there no Byak in Grand Finals, the winner was totally unexpected. We haven't seen an Elt victory is what feels like eons.
Don’t keep up with Uni, but a good friend of mine was going crazy with Enkidu during pools and that got me to pick up UNI2 after so long. Played UNIST and UNICLR but just never got around to UNI2. Will be grinding it now, and definitely gotta peep top 6 for this year, completely missed it due to some side tourneys and community things happening during its run.
Evo this year was the cumulation of what fighting games are all about and why they'll always be better to me than other forms of Esport from League of Legends, to OverWatch.
The familial vibe rooted in its DNA gives it a level of prestige and excitement that surpasses the rest of any gamint tournament, where it's a weekend of the best of the best, going all out, where everyone has a chance from the person who finally got a sponsor, to the first time attendee who traveled across the globe before they can even drive just so that they can chase a dream, all these People giving it everything they got and all these interconnecting storylines is so exciting to see.
Evo's entire premise as an open bracket tournament while fans around the globe gatter to witness the absolute top level gameplay in their field, and experience new game reveals and character announcements for their respective games that shake up the entire crowd cannot be understated, its truly one of kind.
6:07 Terry wasn't leaked, he was officially announced at EVO Japan. What was leaked was the DLC for Guilty Gear Strive, including Cyberpunk character Lucy.
I think seeing the players that were apart of Sajam Tekken event gave more eyes on EVO as well. Seeing them play in tournament and for fun was awesome! Plus seeing Knee vs QTPie on bracket was wild to me and then Lily beating Harada was hilarious as well!
My first EVO experience and now I never want to miss it again
Pride of Pakistan 💚
Punk winning gave me goosebumps, seeing his reaction knowing how much he wanted it was heartwarming, this is why we love fighting games and this is why we will keep playing them for several decades more.
This evo was insane! Long live FGC
Strive was the best final.
Also, poetic that 3rd strike came back for its 25th anniversary, and Hayao there did EVO moment 38
Strive was not even the best game there let alone the best final
@@Evandrocampos-e1xyou’re fuckin crazy, a Jack-O and Anji made it to top 6 and Jack-O took the tourney over a SOL BADGUY, that is fucking nuts. And it was reset, the same Sol had sent Nitro to losers. Shit was amazing from start to finish.
Strive was fucking amazing, throw a dart at the top 24 and you hit an all-time great set, I was EXHAUSTED after the bracket finished because it took that much out of me just watching it all.
Sf6 top 16 was something else bro
Ending is simply the future of fighting games... This kid's composure is outta this world...
Dude, Nitro winning it all this year was fucking sick I love Guilty Gear sm
i think for me the highlight was atif getting 9 straight rounds in the losers final. ive never seen a more dominant performance in a high stakes match like losers final
Seeing Hayao's run in person was absolutely unbelievable! I had never heard of him before, but his energy had the crowd laughing, cheering, and popping off constantly! He is now officially my favourite FGC player ever
Favorite moment was Tekken 8 grand final "hawk tuah", casters were amazing at that set
Arslan Ash 🔥
This was my first time watching EVO and I really enjoyed it. I watched a ton of the games I don't even play fighting games but I'm really interested in esports so I was tuned in just to see what it was like and it was amazing.
Punk and Hayao were the HIGHLIGHTS
You guys need to do a video on Hayao. This is someone known well in the competitive 3rd Strike scene but not much outside of it, the world needs to know just how incredible of a player he is.
Like Daigo has his parry, but i raise you parrying Ken tatsu with 1 pixel of health and dodging his super with a worthless attack, doing the splits on stage VOGUEING his way onto Co Op Cup, COSPLAYING Sailor Moon while in tournament... the man is a HUMAN HIGHLIGHT REEL
this was the first evo i have attended. it was something special. that's all i can say. As a tekken player(not good but it is a game i remember growing up on tekken 2 and 3), i played in the arcade, played up and coming games, played in the tourney(went 2-2 and was out on first day) it was special. I will be going back next year. Arslan's win alone, without anything else, how he did it at the skill he did it, was worth it all. And that isnt even the peak. I now understand what it is to be truly in love with the fighting game community.
This evo was dope. I got to see the SF6 top 6 live. Watching punk finally get his gold stick was awesome!
watched all the top 6 on the final day , was superb hype by the number of comebacks. Arslan winning , Punk winning , sonicfox rivalry against nicholas. hope evo 2025 will be the same lit as well.
Kinda weird to talk about how 2 Flyquest members won their games but only talk about Punk's SF victory without mentioning Nitro's underdog Guilty Gear run at all
It's insane, how top 3 registered game was just mentioned as "had tournamnet". Nitro not only won with pretty much underestimated charater, but also pretty much only person who was raised on peoples hands for how well he played?
For Strive'ers it's a very important final, cause both winners of previos year kicked out before top 8, all current tops kicked out before top 8, so finals had many known players without major achivements. Was so hard to decide who to root for... Also, all previous Evo's (outside of online evo) were won by Happy Chaos players, so winstreak being broken by Jack-O\Gio is huge.
They announced freaking Lucy from Edgerunners. Community left with mixed feeling, but casual audience should love it.
But yeah, there also was a tournament for Strive, lol.
That ultros poster in the backgroun, i love it
Fighting games getting more exposer makes me infinitely happy. As a long time FGC member it's always great to see new players enjoying and getting into the genre.
0:56 Don't forget Tempest at Evo Japan this year too
We can drop the “one of” when talking about Sonic Fox now. They are THE Greatest MK player of all time.
3rd Strike brought the hype, still and forever will bring the hype. Hayao in the pools with red parry into Gigas Breaker FTW against Resolve’s Urien was 🤯
No mention of Nitro and his Jack-O is fucking insane. An insane character pick, tournament point, last hit situation, clutched it out, fucking GOATED, the absolute best set Strive has had thus far.
The Guilty Gear top 6 was insane, almost all games were insanely close, there was an Anji in top 6, the crowd shouting "CUBE" when Zando spammed the throwing cubes attack and when he lost, the crowd started shouting "NO MORE CUBES" because he was the only Asuka player in the top 6, Happy Chaos not being in the finals for the first time in EVO history, a Ramlethal player was close to being in the grand finals (Reddito played amazingly) and Nitro, my god, what a top 6 he played, even playing Jack'O against Sol, losing once against Tatuma, a Sol player that started playing one year ago and he's an old man (I got told this by a friend who was supporting him) and then rematching him in Grand Finals, resetting the bracket and finally winning Evo, for once Sol didn't get to kill wife and she had a revenge on him. Shout-outs to the Twitch chat too during the Top 6 tournament because they were insane with the copypastas.
Punk winning was the ending we needed
The side events and community tournaments were also great, i enjoyed watching older games being played before going to the final top 6 stream. The special quiz event with JMcrofts was hilarious.
Arsalan still finds a way to poke people to death even though taken 8 is a shift to everyone using big moves! Atif is a top class player getting 2nd place beating so many Draganovs in mirror matches proving that he is simply an amazing player. Pakistan is a place I have to visit!
Makes you wonder how many evos Arslan gonns win, or someone will stop him. Dude is the goat right now
Punk's victory was insane on so many levels. So many tears.
As a person who was officially at Evo. how are we not going to talk about Nitro's win at Guilty Gear. He jumped like 6 ft in the air and went crowd surfing lol.
Great video, thank you for your contribution and inspiration. Definitely fueling my passion for content creation within the FGC!
SF6 grand finals was amazingly hype and fitting to the end of Evo 2024
Some years ago I saw a photo showing the size of the crowd at each consecutive Evo and it was insane how much the crowd grew each year. I can't find this photo anymore but it was really cool.
This was easily one of the best EVOs of all time, top 3 for sure. Glad it's being covered
SF6 saved me from my CS2 depression. Fighting games are so great !
Looking forward to 2xko!
I have never played a fighting game but I always wanted to get into it! I dont wanna spend 70 € on tekken so ill wait in suspense for 2xko :3
Definitely a good idea to wait for a black friday sale for tekken. 2xko is gonna get a lot of players being F2P.
I hope to go to an EVO one year. It’s probably a blast there playing all those games and eating all that chipotle :)
"Mortal Kombat 1 was supposed to be one of the bigger tournaments"
No it wasnt LMAO
Hayao's set with FrankieBFG has got to be the highlight of the weekend for me. Beyond just being an absolutely incredible set, Hayao's positivity and showmanship is unmatched. There's never been someone like him; when he's gone, there'll never be another.
I really hate when people talk with authority about stuff they have very little knowledge on, just speaking on Mortal Kombat by just looking in from the outside and from what you hear on reddit.
Saying theres a lack of character variety when the top 6 featured 9 characters and praising tekken when that was 50% dragunov.
And while there is a lack of variety with kameos, that just kinda happens with assist games. How many marvel 2 teams have psylocke just for the uppercut, how many marvel 3 teams feature doom just for hidden missiles, how many dragonball teams had vegeta for his ki blast assist, khameleon kitana lift is just too useful on the whole roster at the moment
Ever great full to Ash for making us proud.
Not talking about Nitro winning Guilty Gear is crazy work. Especially after resetting the bracket against the guy that put him in losers.
the amount of dragunov on evo was hilarious
I love the score scoreEsports content but I wish yall would cover other fighting games besides Tekken/Street Fighter and anything sonicfox related. Nitro had an amazing run in guilty gear and so did AaronDaMac in granblue and both didn't get mentioned at all.
Third strike had so much sauce Hayao pop offs was the highlight for me
The chat going WIFE FIGHT BACK when Nitro got the reset was glorious.
GBFVS is the most underrated fighting game on entire tournament. Also - MK1 did not deserved place on “main event” segment.
This!
ok. dont talk about the cyberpunk strive collab. first ever guest character in a guilty gear game. that's fine.
You didn't even mention we got another Zaid Tabani banger theme song with Aleks Le being a feature.
It was awesome. I wish I kept up with it over the year. Justin was a great commentator and the 3rd strike battles were awesome.
I'm 37 and very new to the fighting game scene and was introduced via multiversus which I know is a platform fighter but I've been delving into traditional fighting games and guilty gear and street fighter were amazing to watch.
This was my first EVO, and watching it online was so amazing, cant wait till next year to hopefully go in person. So happy that, my favorite SF player, Punk finally won. Woke up my entire family at 12 am screaming about Punk winning lmao
The 3rd strike tournament was crazy
This tourney was an absolute joy to watch. I can't wait for EVO 2025 to be even bigger when they announce the return of MVC2.
Special shoutouts to the UMvC3 side tournament. Nothing like seeing several low-to-mid cast members constantly rotating on Sacktap a.k.a Magic Pixel Mexican's team and taking out top tier threats, and the Phoenix Wright mirrors between Lythero and Nyan-derthal in Winner's Pools. Absolutely wild, and not a single ZMC that I can remember ever seeing.
Guilty Gear has the best top 8 imo. Hearing the crowd yell CUBE killed me. Also, NA has won both Evos for it this year, which is sick
Terry was fully revealed by capcom at summer games fest, i think he just had some flashbacks to terry getting leaked for smash
I dont think its correct to say Arslan was ''struggling'' with T8 😅
The game was new, everyone had to learn new things, THAT being said i remember Arslan cooking other pros when the game just released
This was a crazy week for gaming. Optic wins and the Evo madness. Great time to be a gamer and a fan.
Sf6 top 6 was amazing
9:20 "they" 😂😂.
big ups, awesome coverage
First time going to EVO. It was insane
I'm very happy for arsalan ash for winning another title but honestly Atif could've won that evo 2024 if he would've used the rage art in the end.. But they were both gentlemen and played it fair and square, true gems in the tekken world.
Arsalan Ash is official GOAT of Takken now. best player of all time. and that final winning moment, that was something special.
2 major moments for me. Punk finally pulling the W! I feel like he is on a roll and Sonic with his 7th Evo with across 4 different games (MK, Injustice, Skullgirls, & DBZ Fighters)
No Strive coverage? Really? I thought JackO just winning outta nowhere was kind of crazy. Also, Xrd did pretty well for how old it is. Lots of old faces. Anime FGs are the most hype and fast-paced by far, Tekken maybe being the only close competitor.
This didn't even touch upon Sajam Slam for Tekken. That moment between Lilypichu and Harada was SO fun!
I can't believe I missed out on Evo 2024. I gotta check it out next year
god tekken was so fucking fire this year. i loved keisuke the entire event
