Man, Punk legit evolved not just in the game but as a person. He didn't tilt, he didn't choke, he looks like he legit had a great time, too. He looks so... in peace. Big W (no pun intended lol), big congrats.

He was one of the most consistent SF V player and already cemented his place as one of the best in 6. He is very competitive, sometime arrogant and may say things that give him a bad look. I'm far from being a fan of his tantrums but seeing him getting emotional is a proof that it matters a lot to him, not just to flex but to show he can do it.
SF6 is admittedly way less frustrating than other fighting games. Still frustrating because the DLC characters are all overturned to shit, but much less so.

It came down to the last round of the last game and overall big bird won five matches against punk while punk won only three against him and all of them were in the second set. If punks wins were distributed differently between the two sets he would have probably lost. But in the end he still managed to pull through and that's all that matters.

Punk and I were on the same flight back from Europe. I chatted with him briefly -- he's cool and down to earth. I was a fan before, but so happy he finally got this EVO title.
This meant a lot to Punk. He is known to be a bit immature, but I thought the way how he reacted after winning was all class. No pop-off, waited for Big Bird to compose himself to hug after the game, and had some tears. If he had a lost, I wouldn't be surprised if he went on a rant, but I'm glad this didn't happen. I don't think he would have been able to mentally recover if he had lost 2 Evos.

I am freaking out and crying at that win… it means a lot seeing Punk pull that off after all this time it’s amazing. Pushing through years of being told you choke and then when it seems like it’s the same story again Punk pulled through and really did it. I’m so sooo fucking happy he won. Watching him play and rooting for him with cammy was what got me invested in fighting games at all.

Imagine the mental fortitude to overcome multiple chokes at 2nd place at the biggest stage, at point he looked like he was cracking and it would happen again.
But at the end he did it.
Every champion has to overcome the thing that’s holding them back before they ascend to the mountaintop. From eSports to the NBA. Do or do not. This was Punk’s mountain and he conquered it and was rewarded.

That match took so much out of both of them. That was Anime played out in real life. Punk wanted to Pop off but saw how Big Bird was so crushed and thought about his own failures and had immediate sympathy. Punk handled everything perfectly and they'll both look back on this moment and be proud. Big Bird can hold his head up high. Punk... You're the best in the world. Second to None!! Crazy because I played FPS's for over 15 years and about 4 months ago I was like I need to switch it up so I picked up Tekken because it was newer and I didn't like it so I grabbed SF6 and messed around in training.
And finally looked up some people on TH-cam and he was the first dude that popped up for whatever reason.
So the only people I really know or knew for those first 30 days was really him and that dude Justin.
And it was wild because I hadn't played Street fighters since Street fighter 2 OG SNES.
So before I found him I just picked Cammy because of that outfit lol
