Hi Travel Fox! Yes the white desk top is a great thing to be able to mix paint on any part of the surface! I quite often make quite a mess so It's good for me!
Hi Jayne! I had to look up the translation of this as I thought you were saying and an Aussie! but you were saying "mine too" lol! Thanks! Thanks for watching! Cheers Scott
Just gorgeous!! You make it look so easy :) Thanks for sharing it!! I'd love to see this...but then bring one to this stage and do what you'd thought of doing to change it up a bit...only because I'm curious what you're thinking :) Thanks again!!!
@@ScottSwinson yea I'd love that!!! Just to see what changes you'd make, what details you'd add, color changes, etc....it would be really interesting to see the difference :) but, I know you're crazy busy too, so, not trying to pressure 😊 was just a thought :) Thanks so much for all you do!! I know that amy time I'm in too much pain to draw or paint, which is now more often then not, that I can always go to you're channel and see such beautiful things being made that inspire me and keep my head in that beautiful happy place! So, I truly appreciate all your efforts!! :)
Amazing Scott. Stylized and evocative with such minimal brush work - the fan brush for the sand in the foreground! And to resist doing more - brilliant!
Hi Louis! Thanks! Sometimes a painting just paints itself quickly and easily and other times it feels like harder work! It's all good fun though! Yes was hard to stop but I think it was the right thing to do at the time and will see if I change my mind at some stage down the track!
Stunningly quick and simple, yet you perfectly captured the colors and textures of a cloudy, windy seashore. Watching you work is truly a revelation. Thank you.
I love it.I learned a lot from watching your process.I dislike most of my attempts at a seascape, but I keep trying.I have no technique, it seems.I never thought watercolor could be so difficult to get right!
A pleasure to watch, as always. Thank you Scott. It never ceases to amaze me how you are able to just eye your straight horizon line with the tape!!! Unless I measure it out, it is ALWAYS crooked. 😊
Hi Scott! Could you tell us bit more about how you lay out your colours? I notice that you always have little bowls of pure pigments to hand (consistency?), which you dip in to to mix on board. Is the board 3mm thick aluminium compound? We don’t have buntings here in the U.K. Thanks Scott - and I learn such a lot from your videos!
Hi Gill! Yes the colours I use a mostly bowls of pure pigment that I mix up to a thickened cream consistency while painting and then allow them to dry out between painting sessions. I never cover them with cling film (gladwrap in oz) as it makes them start to smell. I just RE wet them before I start painting if possible 1-2 hours before. I use an aluminium composite white panel 3mm on the desk but before that I used white laminate surface you might have in a kitchen. That was good too! 👍👍
So simple and beautiful! Thanks so much!!! Gonna go try this one now. 🙂 Quick question though.. did you use regular old scotch tape or was that a low-tack art tape?
Hi. How do you choose your colors. It’s very confusing. Opaque, staining, transparent, graining. Blooming. It’s crazy out here for beginners! Please help!
Hi Lola's Mum! I know this might sound funny but I don't really think about any of that very much. I have used the same 10 or so colours for decades and know them quite well. You get to know those qualities a bit by just painting with the paints. I think keep your colours to a minimum and that will help you heaps!
Hey Scott!! Love your videos and art. Such an inspiration. I had one question, what material are you using that sits on top of your table? Is it just plastic paper or a silicone like pad? I'm looking for something just like that because I need the space for mixing as you do in your videos. I just want to make sure I get the right stuff. Thanks!
That is simply beautiful Scott, I love it. Am I the only one that can see a fish's head looking out of the paint that's on the table to the left of your board?
Again, love love LOVE your work and your painting style. Thank you for generously sharing your talent and incredible skills. I really enjoy your channel. I’m just starting TRYING to learn this medium and your videos are so helpful. It’s daunting and frustrating at times (most of the time for me still, ha!), but it’s fun when something actually comes together. Quick question, what is the material of your white work surface/desktop that you are using as a mixing pallet/surface? That’s a brilliant way to work! And when you make your bowls of pigment, do you have a video tutorial on how you go about making prepping those? I’ve never worked with watercolor this way and I’d love to give it a go. I just have no idea how to mix up large quantities in bowls like this (regarding paint:water ratios, etc) to be able to use it the way you do with the hake brushes like you do in your videos and for your work. Thanks much! Blessings from Texas.
Hi JHM! The work surface is Aligloss composite panel from bunnings here in Australia. Not sure if you can get that where you live. There will be a video on mixing paints. I’ll have a look through the many videos. See if you can do a search of Scott swinson mixing paint on TH-cam and see what comes up. 👍👍
😃 I'd take a small wager mister Scott does indeed take it further 😄 a bit darks in between the light blue and if I had the hand to, I'd leave the white of the paper between the 2 make them look like plush easy to traverse waters even though the weather is near gloomy 😄🤣🤣🤣🤣 mister swinson I got the same thing about the water if the waters ain't calm or I can't count how the surf rolls in I stay the flippers out of it, unless I got them on 🤣
J’aime beaucoup vôtre travail, un seul regret… ne rien comprendre à ce que vous dites ( je ne parle pas anglais). Ce serait super si les couleurs utilisées étaient inscrites sur la vidéo…
Excellent demonstration. Thank you.
I love it simple but effective
I like the way you use the white board to mix pic was good and simple found u today thank you

Lovely Scott a beautiful painting.
It looks like two different paintings, brilliant buddy
Blimey mate. Just magic 👏👏👏
Thanks KT! 🙏
Love that sky Scott!
Thanks Barbara! It is lovely how a few strokes can look so good sometimes! It just painted itself!
Love your 'no rules', laid back approach to watercolour 😊 something to aspire to...
Thanks Lena! I enjoy it that way! 👍👍
Thanks for the good teaching. It's a pleasure to train with you.
I love it
Brave painting!
Love this. Thank you xx
No worries Marilyn! 🙏
Loving this....funny I do the same and cut the paper in half and this is also my favourite size 😄
Hi Rebekka! It has nice proportions and is a great size that allows for freedom of brush work but not so large it restricts experimentation!
Hi Scott. Magnifique👍😘. Vous êtes mon peintre préféré😍💕. Belles couleurs🎨
mienne aussi!
Thanks Claudie! I'm really glad you enjoy my videos!

As Always. So inspiring and informative. THANKYOU. What a gift
You are so welcome! Happy painting!
Always love to watch you paint......even better if it's a seascape!
Thanks Helene! And yes I was joking when I said I thought I would do something different....a seascape! lol It's what I paint constantly!
A gorgeous watercolour seascape, I'll have a go at this and see how it turns out.
Have fun Mark! Glad you liked it!
Love the movement in the sky & the water. You captured the feeling very well. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Lisa Lisa, glad you enjoyed it!

Hi Chris! Yes simple in watercolour is often letting the medium itself express its true nature! I’m really pleased you liked it! 👍🙏
Beautiful
Thanks Kelly!
You paint loose not stiff like other artist I love your style. Looking forward to painting loose & enjoying myself.
It’s really lovely 😊
Thank you! 😊
Stunning
Love this one thanks!!
Hi Monte! No worries! Simple but lovely! I love how you can capture the sea and mood in a simple way!
I love it! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to try this!
Glad you like it Britt! Have fun! 👍👍

Thanks Matt! Simple but lovely! 👍👍
Wow ! I had to watch 4 times. I would glance away for a second and suddenly there’s a beach! Gorgeous
Thanks Sue! A good one to try! 👍👍

Just brilliant. I do not know how you do it. I tried it a few times and mine always looks like a childs painting 😂

Hello from UK. I'm a beginner.
Lovely. As a beginner what selection of paint colors? Tube paint or hard in box ? Thanks
So simple and beautiful! Thanks so much!!! Gonna go try this one now. 🙂 Quick question though.. did you use regular old scotch tape or was that a low-tack art tape?
Hi Harmony! It was the regular 3M magic tape in the green box! 👍👍 glad you liked it! 👍👍
Thank you

Yes sir, you are the messiest painter ever seen😂😂😂
I know! lol
5 or 6 tiny birds in the distance would top off your seascape.
