    Mr. Clark, I do not have enough words to express my gratitude for sharing your work with us. You give what you know and the knowledge that you have accumulated with so many years of work, you do not have any selfishness and allow us to learn from you. I wish many of the so-called greats learned a bit from you. Thanks again for your time and for your talent.

      Wow, thank you JG - that's one of the nicest compliments I've ever had and I'm very grateful. I get enormous pleasure from doing these videos and sharing what I've learned, mainly because I've enjoyed the learning the process from others over the years. Keep in touch as there is lots more to come!!!!

      @ J G you expressed my feelings much better than I could.
      Have more to add but a wonderful soul Mr. Clark is.
      My favorite place to be- beach & the waves are most special.
      Maybe you paint a happy beach someday less somber & grim?

      Mr Clark l have come across your videos on TH-cam n l spend hours watching them over n over again! It's absolutely mesmerizing for me as l am a retired old school teacher who finds a lot of joy n solace in painting n am new to the techniques of watercolor.When the Pandemic has created a shadow of death over our heads here l find your videos a great place to learn something new. You are a wonderful teacher who is ready to pass on the great techniques you have accumulated in your treasury through your hard work. In lndia we call it Guru(teacher) sishya(pupil) parampara (tradition of transmission). You hold nothing back....all the knowledge is for those who want to learn. So Guru l wanted to say agrateful thank you. I know l have a long long way to go but l will try very hard sir. My pranam(salutation). Indrani Niyogi.

    Thanks so very much. (I'd lovingly give more if I could. But this comes from my heart and with a lot of gratitude). I started watching this fascinating video with a giggle😂, with all the water in the picture, but ended it with a biiig WOW! Never seen any seascape teaching like this. I do love your videos so much, they are all informative, done with joy and knowledge (what a compelling combination, this is pulling me to try it myself!) easy to understand and with a good sence of humor. Thank you so much for all your effort Mr. Clark

    Fond memories of the Sussex coast, after leaving school at Patcham I used to cycle the coastal path from Saltdean to Brighton to work, waves used to crash over the top of me, or the seagulls would attack lol. Great video lesson, thank you 👍🏻

    Paul, I like the fact that you give us percentages of each color to make a mixture. But how do we measure out the percentage a out?

    • @ArtbyPaulClark
      @ArtbyPaulClark  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Josephine - the percentages are really only a guide - it's really about experimenting and just mixing your own version to be close - if that makes sense!.

    Love that, thank you. My son also lives on the south coast and I just love those sea views.
    Q - how do you know when you’re done? I have a habit of fiddling and not knowing when enough is enough.

    • @ArtbyPaulClark
      @ArtbyPaulClark  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Dilys - that's a great question and it's one I ask myself every time I paint! - Many a time I've ruined a painting by overworking it - but I've taught myself to stop when there is enough info to suggest what the subject is (if that makes sense!!) It's always good to be a little vague so the viewer has to interpret things for themselves. It's probably the hardest thing of all and I know many artists struggle with it. I guess a lot of it comes down to experience and not trying to be too literal when coping a reference photos.

    I was a huge fan of Bob Ross, I still am, I would sit and watch and listen to Bob as he spoke and painted, enthralled as these most beautiful of paintings emerged and I would think, "I could do that". I believed it when he told me that I too, "could do it". I never did of course, life stuff and all that would take over. Nevertheless, for that half hour, I escaped. I cannot give a greater compliment than to say that is how I felt watching you paint. I am so glad that I spent some of my time here; that picture is simply stunning. The tone, even the music and humour, I loved. In these most difficult of times, for everybody, I really need to start. Thank you for this. :)

    Love the splash of the waves and your paintings using the techniques you demonstrated. Beautiful work! I live by the sea too (California) and have taken photos of waves crashing on rocks with hopes of painting them but wasn’t sure where to start. Thanks to your video I’m going to give it a try.

    I did this one Paul and thanks to your fab tuition it’s the first surf painting I have ever done. It’s turned out brilliant and I’m so inspired and somewhat surprised of how well it is. Thank you again for your patient and amusing videos. I don’t think you want to be bothered with my work but if you want to see it, PM me and I’ll send a pic. Cheers.

    We used to have a beach cottage, a true one in a family beach in Florida that my Father's parent's owned forever, right on the beach. Very rustic, very wonderful. My safe place. Learned so much without realizing I was learning it. It was named Onadune for the obvious reason. That shingle, cypress cottage stood for decades and decades through everything nature had to throw at it! It was perfection. I miss it terribly!! Terri

      Hi Paul, I have been attempting to paint this scene but I am having a lot of trouble with the masking fluid tearing my paper is a particular method for removing it. I have been using art spectrum 300gsm 100 percent cotton paper in rough. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.
