This Is what superman is supposed to be. A friend who not only saves people but also assures them to not lose hope. There is something about these dc animated films that hit the bullseye with this guy each fuckin time.
I mean he is a symbol of hope, someone trying to do the right thing, a friendly guy who has powers and uses em right , almost every iteration is like this. A beacon of hope, except for injustice. He burned shazams brain out

Insurance plans would most likely include a statement excluding super hero/villain related damages, unless additional coverage was added to the policy. It’s safe to assume that this add-on would a requirement for getting a home loan in or around Metropolis and Gotham, and be rather expensive.

I feel like this is one of the few versions of superman this decade that actually acts like how Superman is supposed to be. A hero that will stop at nothing to help others and empower the helpless

Superman, in the fight of his life against a hyper-powered monstrosity that's already kicked the asses of half the Justice League and is now kicking HIS ass, taking a moment to reassure a little boy. Now THAT'S how you write a real superhero.
One of my favorite Superman moments in any movie or medium comes from Justice League: Doom
There’s a reporter on top of a building, getting ready to take his own life. Now Superman could easily grab the gun in the blink of an eye, and carry the guy down to safety.
But he doesn’t do that. He stays there, and talks to him. He disagrees with him when he says it no longer matters. “I’ve fought for the same things, even when it didn’t seem fashionable. It’s a never ending battle, but that’s why we can’t quit.”
It was a trap, mind you, but that doesn’t undermine the message to me. As much as he gets dismissed as hokey or outdated, as much as people like to say you can’t have a good story with such an OP character, this is what the character is to me at his best.
This is why the current iteration in the live action movies never sits well with me. Snyder has stated as much that he wanted it to be treated like a modern day telling of the Greek Gods. But that misses the core of the character for me.
Superman’s character was never about the godly power he possesses. It was always about the human that posses it.

The only opponnent that remember following him to the wilderness is Vegeta. In Frieza saga everyone on the Namek was already killed by Frieza's men , in Cell saga Cell built his arena in the middle of nowhere, in Buu saga super Buu already killed everyone on earth and the fight with kid Buu happens on Supreme Kai planet where there is nobody except for the Supreme Kai and Elder Kai , in Resurrection of F Frieza did blow up a city seconds after landing on earth as i remember but Goku wasnt even on the earth at the time.

That hug probably meant a lot to Superman because it reminded him of what he is fighting for. It’s why I love when Superman is written like this, like he can still be in these big epic fights yet still retain that kindness and selflessness, being a friend

How is DD a superior foe? Supes holds back by not fighting to kill. Biggest misconception is that Superman dies but instead he lives and DD is the one who dies.

Late reply I know but Superman’s best stories are and always have been about the ideals he fights for rather than the fights themselves.
Saving people is the whole point. Even in his introductory comic, he used his powers to save a woman falsely convicted on death row.
Superman vs the Elite. The Justice Lord and Cadmus arcs of JLU, and the one off of that series “For the Man Who Has Everything”. All Star Superman. Justice League: Doom.
They all do fantastic jobs of fleshing our Superman because they don’t focus on his fights and powers but his driving motivations.
Like take Superman vs the Elite. The entire film is an exploration of the place for Superman in the modern era, when held up against “heroes” that don’t mind killing, where even the public perception seems to be on their side. It’s a fascinating exploration of his character’s relevance in the modern age.
He’s a character really worth exploring when handled right.
I would highly advise you watch the 2007 Superman doomsday…definitely a tier above this movie IMHO

I could only think that if Superman couldn't hold himself up, then Lois would only barely be able to slow his fall: he's 250 lbs, easy.
This fight was so well done. It was so intense, especially at 3:35 when I was expecting an Injustice style "slam back to earth" move.
That's how the 2007 animated Doomsday fight ended. Which to be fair was a far more epic final death blow than the one that happened in the comics.

Dude. Absolutely no capes. They look cool and keep you warm. Superheroes can’t afford those luxuries.
Superman is normally invincible. Her examples were all of non-durable people people snagging at inopportune times, but Superman can't snag. He was just literally thrown at a helicopter rotor and broke it. Dude could get his hair caught in a drill press and it would stop the motor or cut through the bit before he budged. All things considered, Edna could have worked supreme durability into Mr. Incredible's idea for a cape and made him a retractable cape shield so he could use his *durability* to tank wide blasts and protect people around him.
Batman's cape is added protection plus glider capability. Batman is more creative than Edna, she's just artsier about it and has access to indestructible materials. Tell me why Mr. Incredible shouldn't have a cape made out of whatever Elastigirl's outfit is made of, except trade some of that elasticity for better blast resistance? Or make it out of some of that Knife-proof Polymer that hardens when struck by a point, since he can still be cut?
I really enjoyed pulling these ideas out of my butt, thanks for making me think about capes, supers, and Edna. This was fun to think about.

In Justice League: War, he came off as extremely arrogant (very much like his comic counterpart who was going through the New 52), but slowly but surely, he became the Superman we all know and love. Not some god-like git who only cares about Lois Lane, but a farm boy willing to do the right thing.

0:36 THIS is what I would love to see more of in live action superhero stuff. Not just the hero having well choreographed fight scenes, but taking a brief moment to show what they are actually protecting. Taking a second to appreciate how heroes inspire the world around them, letting them know everything is going to be fine. Even the civilians showing warmth and care towards the hero makes for a nice scene.
those type of heroes are considered "corny" in todays time. People love antiheros who now. Guys who aren't really good,but kind of good when they need to be.

NorthernStal The famously unknown penguin in some versions batman uses it as a bulletproof vest and in brave and the bold his cape could turn into a jetpack and in most versions he could use it to glide. It’s useful for non Super powered people but makes absolutely no sense for Super powered heroes

That’s how it plays out in the comics. The B team JL were getting slaughtered by doomsday until Clark got there. Sometimes he gets caught up in who’s the tougher fighter instead of using all of his gifts in battle. He shouldn’t have slugged it out with doomsday. He didn’t use his speed nearly enough

But then again I'm sure doomsday is around the same speed as him so it won't be as easy as it probably sounds tbh if he was to punch him to space and use his time to take out the other villains that are on his teammates they could then support Superman fighting doomsday once he gets back to earth but hey lol plot is plot 😂 most the time the most realistic of choices aren't shown for the story to progress the way they wanted it, and even in real life when caught in the moment people make mistakes, so u could just say threw the intensity of the battle Superman and doomsday had clark caught up in the moment. Which still makes sence because in hand to hand combat hes not even Harley level and his enemy is almost as strong as him, something rare for him to encounter. Leaving him to focuse his attention on staying alive

1) he cares dearly about people.
2) he uses his powers cleverly.
3) he knows things are getting dangerous and is trying to pummel Doomsday into ANY direction away from civilians he can think of (the river/the sky) so again, more of a reinforcement of point 1.
4)...you REALLY feel for the guy, he goddam smiles, shows EMOTIONS he feels...Human lol, he knows things look Grimm yet he still puts on a confident front because he not only wanna protect people's lives but also their hopes.
5) he is witty, all the lines were good!

I agree with all your points but #3. He starts by batting Doomsday away from the city, punching and heat-visioning him in the same direction, then when it looks like a couple more will have the guy in orbit or at least in the ocean, he decides to slam him DOWN, towards the city again?
Zapranoth You mean at 3:35 when Supes is about to hit him downwards but Doomsday hits him first? What he could be trying to do is hit him downwards and then move super fast to hit him upwards again (which he has sometimes been shown to do). But honestly it doesn’t feel that way and it’s not the best move in this kind of dire situation, I honestly think the writers probably thought it would look cool.
keep in mind, this superman has already fought darkseid. in man of steel, superman is still basically a freshman. in bvs, they did take doomsday away from the populated areas.
*And* this is still a darker, grittier, New 52-style Superman like the DCEU was going for, despite maintaining Superman's primary moral code. So yeah, they definitely could have learned something.

0:55 - For some reason this scene always makes me cry. I mean, he was just thankful enough to not just run away, but to turn back and really acknoledge what his hero did for him. Not knowing his hero would die a few hours later.
And imagine how much motivation it gave him to finish off doomsday. This battle will probably bet your last by the looks of things and you see a child that’s about to get crushed and you rescue him. Then that child procedes to give you a hug. He remembered why he’s even fighting doomsday in the first place. These people may not be *his* people but they still love him and trust him. Bro that would’ve given me the motivation and strength to kill doomsday.

I liked when she said going back out there is suicide and he said "so is following in the chopper". A nice way of saying "maybe, but we both it's my job". The DC animated movies superman is so damn good.

I think the scariest thing about this Doomsday is that, despite the appearance of a raging brute, he's not mindless. He actually displays some genuinely clever moves during the fight, catching Superman off guard in ways a mindless beast couldn't. That implies that on some level he is genuinely intelligent.

I love how superman's heat vision looks here, it's not just 2 simple laser beams, it looks more realistic and powerful. Also the entire battle looks awesome ! They did a good job on the animation! :)

Superman rescuing a child had to be one of the best parts of the movie.
Animation, characterizations, relationships, fight choreo and literally everything in this movie is so good. Especially Superman's character, just so boyscout naive, but also you see the difference in him and the rest of the league when it comes down to it. "I am the cavalry" Severely underrated movie.
