I think most people misunderstand this scene and think its Batman that Darkseid respects. Its not. Darkseid said it himself. He admires the quality of how humans are willing to sacrifice lives to win battles. We might find the wholesale cost of throwing away lives to win a war repulsive enough to prevent us from fighting in similar wars, but Darkseid sees it as a positive trait. Batman just happened to show that trait to Darkseid at the right time to give Darkseid the warm fuzzies.
This is how Batman should be written when dealing with god-like beings such as Darkseid. Don't make him ridicilously OP to the point he dodges Omega Beams. Have him use his intellect to outsmart and blackmail him and force his hand.
