To a degree, that’s a weight I think Superman bears more or less all the time. He is the strongest, most resilient, last line of defense. If he falls-not because of some bs kryptonite hack but is actually overwhelmed and overpowered by an enemy he can’t match-then things look very grim indeed.
This whole fight is just perfection. The artstyle, animation, sound effects, music, voice acting, and choreography is just top notch. It really shows off just how brutal the whole thing is as we see Superman being slowly overwhelmed.
You have to admire how quickly Superman realizes he's up against something that is beyond him. Looking at the flexing power strength they had, Doomsday pushes Superman on the ground, he's not used to that. When Superman sees his blood after one hit he knew instantly this would kill him.
and this movie conveyed that almost perfectly. Like superman is the world's most iconic hero. few beings in the universe can take him out one on one. And the whole side story with the bartender who idolized superman reinforced that whole concept. but here we see superman against someone who was almost casually beating him. That juxtaposed with the bartender's faith in superman was just beautiful storytelling.

I REALLY like the scenes of Doomsday putting civilians in danger--the sound design and framing really capture the horror of what an ordinary person might feel if they were caught in a battle between gods.
Superman was lucky, that's all. Doomsday can't be killed by brute force anymore, he adapts and evolves with each death. And canonically, Doomsday can't gain the powers of metahumans. That's Amazo's speciality.

So this may have not been him copying superman's powers, but superman inadvertently triggering latent abilities that were in doomsday's genetics already.
Reminds me when Broly takes Goku from a leg and smashes his body on the freeze floor like a toy around three times and then crashes his face through a wall of ice to finally drop him again on the floor. After that, Goku desperately goes to Blue and the real fight starts, since Goku saw that was not a normal power for a saiyan so he needed to go far than he expected. Simply the Superman vs Doomsday fight is like Goku vs Broly, very similar circumstances.

I would love to see a Dragon Ball fight THIS brutal. You can feel the impact of each punch. You can hear hate and murderous intent in both their cries. They aren't punching each other with stiff jabs for 2 minutes straight in the same animation loop. They are grappling when they can, burying each other into the concrete. Nobody is bullshitting by guaging the others abilities. Hell, these are true warriors playing every card with nearly nothing held back to kill the other. God I loved this film.

The unstable core and the exposure to the red sun Rao is what gives it its hazardous properties. Lex Luthor didn't create Doomsday in this movie or even in the comics. He was created several millennia ago by a scientist named Bertron. The original Doomsday was an infant who was thrown into the dangers of prehistoric Krypton where he was left to die. From there, Bertron would scoop up the remains and clone it to be stronger than whatever killed him, just to die to something stronger still. Bertron repeated this process over and over again to perfect the ultimate life form, a creature that transcends death itself. Doomsday's hatred of all things that live comes from the fact that he remembers every death and rebirth experienced by this process. Next time, actually read the comics instead of relying on adaptations that change everything

He's a mindless, bloodthirsty killing machine, and damn near indestructable. THAT is why Superman had such a hard time with him. Because Doomsday hits every bit as hard as he does, can take a hit as well as he does, has no concept of self preservation, and doesn't care about collateral damage. Superman was basically fighting something like himself, but one that didn't care if it died fighting him, or if it killed everything else around them in the process

I remember when Cartoon Network aired the first animated film of death of Superman. I couldn’t believe Superman was beaten like we were so used to this guy winning it was just unbelievable to watch him he lose like that.
I absolutely love this version of Doomsday. They finally did the character justice and brought back the animal creation of prehistoric Krypton. Not a CADMUS creation. Not a Lex Luthor project. Just a creature designed to do one thing: kill everything.

I like that Doomsday is only a bit bigger than Superman instead of like ridiculously huge like in the movie. You don’t have to make a villain 10 stories tall to get across that they’re strong. Tell it, don’t show. Like in the Comics Doomsday isn’t super gargantuan but the fact that nothing can stop him or even slow him down is what makes him so terrifying.
Yes, but superman had the disadvantage of never fighting with a villain as strong as him. Remember that general Zod never appeared in this universe and Darkside doesn't count because he was defeated by all the justice league in his first attack, so this makes superman a little unexperienced in that aspect.

When you think about it, Doomsday is in fact the perfect villain for Superman. While Superman has literally unlimited power, Doomsday has been able to outmatch every thing it has encountered just like Superman. Then there is the fact that Doomsday has such a regeneration factor that he keeps coming back and every time he does, he is immune to how he previously died
Facts tho. Just think of fighting something that is immune to what killed it when it comes back. after a long enough time and you've tried everything...what then?
The way they introduced Doomsday into the comics was just so masterful. They built it up, having the end of a string of Superman comics showing a fist punching against a wall. Until eventually, it escapes, and Doomsday is unleashed into the world. Like, that's how you build up a true threat. It was great.
This fight was perfect. So entertaining and a lot of emotion. It was so intense and I loved it. I even took a moment to appreciate and take in this fight.
I absolutely love Superman, everyone says hes generic but he's not. He's the father of all Superheroes, hes the shining symbol of hope everyone knows him to be. He doesn't just protect people because it's his responsiblity, he does it because he cares for people and loves them, he cares for everything, aliens, criminals, animals, he just has to fight evil to protect the innocent.
This fight might actually be the best Superman action sequence in any medium. Perfect tone of dread with a hint of inspiration from Superman, fantastic choreography, and great music. I know people probably prefer the Zod fight in Man of Steel but the level of destruction was too enormous. Superman actually takes the time to save people in the middle of this fight
The Superman the world needed, the Doomsday the fans deserved. Hope Future DC movies can adapt the comic books as well as the animated movies have for New 52.
The civilians on the bridge really up the tension. You see the fight from their point and how freaking wild it is and Superman has more to do than just fight a monster, it's so good. That's the kind of stuff that was missing from Man of Steel and BvS.
I like the fact that in the comics there was different members of the Justice League involved with Doomsday. Booster Gold was the one that gave Doomsday his name. The members of the Justice League had their own problems, like Nightfall for Batman and Aquaman losing his arm. It would have been great if they would have done it this way, so that we could have gotten those stories as animated movies. I hope we can at least get a Superman animated movie where he fights the Kryptonian IA.

In the 90s, with heroes like Shazam, MM, Flash, Supergirl, Captain Atom, Dr. Fate and even firestorm, that rival Superman's power, it doesn't make sense for Doomsday to be able to beat every single one of them and for somehow Superman to be the only one standing and can take him down. It really doesn't. One of the reasons why this movie relies too much on plot instead of it flowing naturally. Flash really couldn't have lost the fight to begin with, and tripping him should be fucking impossible, but again, Plot. Zack brought Doomsday in the second film to get the shitty plotline over with without having to nerf the other heroes to make Superman look good

Also, doomsday does originally come from Kryptonian lineage, he was just warped and tortured by Bertron for so many years that he grew into something else entirely. So this may have not been him copying superman's powers, but superman inadvertently triggering latent abilities that were in doomsday's genetics already.

Just remembering that it took the whole Justice League to defeat just one Doomsday made me feel sad when watching Apokolips War knowing that they never stood a chance since the enemies were half doomsday half parademon.

To be fair Doomsday is a killing unstoppable fighting machine, no more no less, WB delivered that, what it doesn't fit is that Luthor created him in BvS.
I would love to see a Dragon Ball fight THIS brutal. You can feel the impact of each punch. You can hear hate and murderous intent in both their cries. They aren't punching each other with stiff jabs for 2 minutes straight in the same animation loop. They are grappling when they can, burying each other into the concrete. Nobody is bullshitting by guaging the others abilities. Hell, these are true warriors playing every card with nearly nothing held back to kill the other. God I loved this film.

Kryptonite is the irradiated remains of Krypton'. The unstable core and the exposure to the red sun Rao is what gives it its hazardous properties.
Lex Luthor didn't create Doomsday in this movie or even in the comics. He was created several millennia ago by a scientist named Bertron. The original Doomsday was an infant who was thrown into the dangers of prehistoric Krypton where he was left to die. From there, Bertron would scoop up the remains and clone it to be stronger than whatever killed him, just to die to something stronger still. Bertron repeated this process over and over again to perfect the ultimate life form, a creature that transcends death itself. Doomsday's hatred of all things that live comes from the fact that he remembers every death and rebirth experienced by this process.
Next time, actually read the comics instead of relying on adaptations that change everything

Now in some continuties Metallo had a kryptonite heart and was made by Lex. But that's the closest anything is to being made of Kryptonite. The thing is, Doomsday is also more or less a Kryptonian. He's a mindless, bloodthirsty killing machine, and damn near indestructable. THAT is why Superman had such a hard time with him. Because Doomsday hits every bit as hard as he does, can take a hit as well as he does, has no concept of self preservation, and doesn't care about collateral damage. Superman was basically fighting something like himself, but one that didn't care if it died fighting him, or if it killed everything else around them in the process

I like that Doomsday is only a bit bigger than Superman instead of like ridiculously huge like in the movie. You don’t have to make a villain 10 stories tall to get across that they’re strong. Tell it, don’t show.
Like in the Comics Doomsday isn’t super gargantuan but the fact that nothing can stop him or even slow him down is what makes him so terrifying.
Yes, but superman had the disadvantage of never fighting with a villain as strong as him. Remember that general Zod never appeared in this universe and Darkside doesn't count because he was defeated by all the justice league in his first attack, so this makes superman a little unexperienced in that aspect.

When you think about it, Doomsday is in fact the perfect villain for Superman. While Superman has literally unlimited power, Doomsday has been able to outmatch every thing it has encountered just like Superman. Then there is the fact that Doomsday has such a regeneration factor that he keeps coming back and every time he does, he is immune to how he previously died

The way they introduced Doomsday into the comics was just so masterful. They built it up, having the end of a string of Superman comics showing a fist punching against a wall. Until eventually, it escapes, and Doomsday is unleashed into the world. Like, that's how you build up a true threat. It was great.

This fight was perfect. So entertaining and a lot of emotion. It was so intense and I loved it. I even took a moment to appreciate and take in this fight.
I've always found it refreshing that there are beings, creatures and other races that have the capacity to match Kryptonians with force.

I absolutely love Superman, everyone says hes generic but he's not. He's the father of all Superheroes, hes the shining symbol of hope everyone knows him to be. He doesn't just protect people because it's his responsiblity, he does it because he cares for people and loves them, he cares for everything, aliens, criminals, animals, he just has to fight evil to protect the innocent.
The footsteps you hear from Doomsday at 0:52 sends a tingle down my spine everytime I hear them.
This fight might actually be the best Superman action sequence in any medium. Perfect tone of dread with a hint of inspiration from Superman, fantastic choreography, and great music. I know people probably prefer the Zod fight in Man of Steel but the level of destruction was too enormous. Superman actually takes the time to save people in the middle of this fight

The Superman the world needed, the Doomsday the fans deserved. Hope Future DC movies can adapt the comic books as well as the animated movies have for New 52.
The civilians on the bridge really up the tension. You see the fight from their point and how freaking wild it is and Superman has more to do than just fight a monster, it's so good. That's the kind of stuff that was missing from Man of Steel and BvS.
I like the fact that in the comics there was different members of the Justice League involved with Doomsday. Booster Gold was the one that gave Doomsday his name. The members of the Justice League had their own problems, like Nightfall for Batman and Aquaman losing his arm. It would have been great if they would have done it this way, so that we could have gotten those stories as animated movies. I hope we can at least get a Superman animated movie where he fights the Kryptonian IA.

In the 90s, with heroes like Shazam, MM, Flash, Supergirl, Captain Atom, Dr. Fate and even firestorm, that rival Superman's power, it doesn't make sense for Doomsday to be able to beat every single one of them and for somehow Superman to be the only one standing and can take him down. It really doesn't. One of the reasons why this movie relies too much on plot instead of it flowing naturally. Flash really couldn't have lost the fight to begin with, and tripping him should be fucking impossible, but again, Plot. Zack brought Doomsday in the second film to get the shitty plotline over with without having to nerf the other heroes to make Superman look good
