Thank you, been after a nest box for ages, as the ones for sale are hard to clean, and not well made. Saw your video and had to make one. So happy with the results. I just changed slightly so eggs roll to the back as have a plastic shed as a coop. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video. After watching it about 20 times, I was able to build my hens a small version that works well. I'm just learning to use tools so I searched a long time for a nest box that explained the build. Your video is outstanding!
I have watched about 15 DIY roll away nesting boxes videos. Yours is the best hands down! So easy! I am starting this build in the next couple of weeks. A couple suggestions I have for you, is where the eggs come to rest at the bottom of the catch area, put pool noodles cut in half to cushion the eggs when they stop rolling. There should not be as much breakage then. Also, instead of artificial turf which I have found to be really expensive, I am thinking of using rubber all purpose matting or even rubber shelf liner. It's easy to clean, or even just throw out and replace when it gets dirty. I would love to see how you put a second story on this. For some reason I can't seem to visualize it. Awesome build, thank you so much for sharing!
I made one yesterday and like the idea added a roof on the top portion and used 2x4 's, it came out strong and sturdy, took me 2 - 3 hours to build itt cruz I had to improvise where u didn't give the measurements on some of your build. Added one foot partitions to it for and not really sure why u added the red curtains for privacy egg laying but if color matters to make it work, red it is. This is a pretty cool invention you came up with. Gonna make 3 more for my 50 chickens that I have coming in 4 months from the hatchery do to the high demand.. Thank you sir for posting this video and taking the time to share your awesome creativity and design. You motivate new egg producers....
Great nesting box. I've just build one and the results are amazing. I've spent more or less 25 euros using some scrap wood i had at the farm. Thanks for sharing.
I made an egg box just like yours except for my eggs will roll to the back instead of the front so I can collect them in the people side. I had got 10 new chickens and I had three laying eggs, all in the half of the deep litter. This morning I went out there and the fourth one that started laying was actually in the egg box and laid her first egg into the box and it rolled to the back. Thanks for the design it works real well.
That is a really nice build, JSUK, I used those rubber floor mats that snap together like puzzles, The eggs roll real nicely and a piece on the back so they don't hit & break, I'm thinking the hens will go under the box and peck the eggs open uo thru the screen wire,,, smart arse chickens!!! lol
Hello my name is Claudenio I am Brazilian city Fortaleza Ce Northeast of the country, I really like your work congratulations, these nests were very good 👊🖐️👏👍
I liked this video and subscribed and belled all. If you I may make a few suggestions, don't jerk the camera around so much, hesitate on each step for a few seconds, zoom out just a bit more. I tried to cheapskate my way through my chickens eggs, but, finally decided to buy a nest. Glad I found you first. I am going to build this your way. Looks good.
I built a nesting box, very similar to this, with the 1/2" hardware cloth for the bottom. My birds stopped laying in the box and began nesting on the ground. They wouldn't even go into the box with hardware cloth. I like the design so, this spring I'm going to line the hardware cloth with some outdoor carpet and see if they'll begin using it.
Make sure u have some sort of covers over the main holes into the box so its abit dark in there for them. If u check the second video on these boxes i made u can see what I mean iv used pieces of red tarp. That might help getting them to lay in there 👍
@@FieldtoFarm_UK Try putting straw in them first when your birds first come in. Then as time goes on reduce the amount you have until there is no straw at all in the box
Love the video thank you for sharing. I feel based upon your video I can make this myself. Any chance you could post a pix of the 2 boxes stacked? Also suggested size for about 40 hens?
Very informative when I first saw your video pop up I was puzzled why you were quoting the price in lbs. You look like you live next door to me in South Texas LOL.
Just hung mine. Overnight they had roosted on the egg collection lid and pooped all over it. I've got other places for them to roost as well. Any suggestions?
From previous experience using this style on a multi tier box at our old place they dont peck from underneath unless they can see broken egg dripping. I'd recommend just this single tier at waste height for you though. Then they cant reach to peck for sure and it's way easier to collect eggs and maintain
Hey man what is the height of the entrance? Im making one do you think chickens can fit in 6 inches height entrance? Inside they have 11 inches height beforr ceiling.
Young man, you need your girlfriend to hold the camera for you. I'm sure she will be still and gentle with it. The camera movements gave me headache. Good video though!

Glad to be of assistance, well done on making your own version too 👍👌

Thanks, if u set the angle right when install them u wont get any breaks 👍

I'm glad it's helped 👌👌😁
I recently heard someone say hens are attracted to red because they’re attracted to roosters with the reddest, tallest combs.
The best! Simple, easy, effective and cheap project! Thanks for sharing! Congrats!
No worries I'm doing a video on even cheaper and better ones soon

Thank you! I only have 12 but I think this will make the process of getting the eggs a lot easier for me.
Great project for any skill level. Instructions are perfect for easy adjusting to ones needs.

Thanks:-)
My dad made this said it works perfect thanks for the video
The best chicken nest box . I will do the same...thank you 👍
Finaly I found DIY I was looking for 🧐🧐 Cheers Man!
Brilliant design. Liked and subscribed! I'll be adapting the idea to use in a Justin Rhodes style chick-shaw.

Good advice about the Camara, I almost skipped the video because it gets me dizzy.., also it can be shorter..but good video.

Good video. Simple instructions.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, I'm curious about the amount of broken or Cracked eggs you have from eggs rolling into other eggs when multiple chickens use the same box??
This is really really cost savings. Thanks buddy ⚡
man you just solved the whole shit thanks God bless you.
Love the video thank you for sharing. I feel based upon your video I can make this myself. Any chance you could post a pix of the 2 boxes stacked? Also suggested size for about 40 hens?

Great video. Other than those “strips-a-lot” screws I call them. Robertson are the best.
I use torx or star head screws only now lol
How big was the Plyboard side pieces
You can add some shavings at the bottom to protect the eggs from breaking
Very informative when I first saw your video pop up I was puzzled why you were quoting the price in lbs. You look like you live next door to me in South Texas LOL.
Nice simple effective way. Thank you
Where do you get this wire? All I see is 2"x3" holes
I like it. Thanks so
Much for the knowledge
Mate that is a brilliant box the end boards what’s the height and width of them cheers 👍
So what mate do the chickens just hop in the top do they?
Yeye pretty much keep it dark inside the box area and they will go in there to lay
Thanks mate also what’s the right angle on the decline you reckon?
How many chickens can be accommodated in this box
Just hung mine. Overnight they had roosted on the egg collection lid and pooped all over it. I've got other places for them to roost as well. Any suggestions?
Thank you really good video
Does it matter whether the rollaway is at front or back? My current nesting boxes are mounted on the outside of the pen.
No either way should be fine, if you use any straw or bedding tho it may cause blockages
I see that if the angle is too steep eggs could break. Can u suggest an optimum slope?
Its about 10 to 12 degrees. Best way to find what u think is the best for ur eggs is just to roll one down and adjust the legs accordingly
Brilliant great to watch
how many chickens would one of there's nest boxes service? I have 100 chickens so I wanted to know how big I needed to make it?
Good job, thanks 😊
Dude you had an awesome accent 🤘🏻
Hey, thanks!
So the nest box doesn't need any bedding, the hens will just lay strait onto the mesh? Sorry for the noob question
It isn't necessary. Matter of fact all that straw and shredding helps to promote broody behavior.
no bedding needed just to be dark inside really
Is it better to have wood or mesh at the bottom?
Mesh, they stay cleaner 👌
@@FieldtoFarm_UK thanks much for the advice
Nice one m8
Thank you, thank you, thank you
Thanks mate
Do the chickens peck the underside of the roll away since it's wire and they can see the eggs from the ground or if on the underside of a second tier?

I'd recommend just this single tier at waste height for you though. Then they cant reach to peck for sure and it's way easier to collect eggs and maintain
Nest box 9.5/10 Accent 10/10
🤣👌 thanks
Thanks for the info
Thats a hell of a slope, dont eggs break when they hit eachother?
I'm crying watching this in 2021 when he says his CLS cost 2 quid haha
😂😂😂
Huh
Prices soared over coronavirus etc and now are much higher then when the video was recorded
Aren’t those plastic inserts supposed to be used without bedding in them?
Great job very helpfull thx f Karl f Austria
Thanks :-)
Hey man what is the height of the entrance? Im making one do you think chickens can fit in 6 inches height entrance? Inside they have 11 inches height beforr ceiling.
Its about 10 inches, along as they can fit through they will go through usually!
Thanks and well done.
Thank you too!
what is the size of the side board?
40cm deep 40ishcm high, my latest design iv made with 30cm high sides
Beautiful English accent
Best video.
Glad you think so!
Yes man
Beuty!
Good job sir, u give me a idea , how to make egg nest,
glad to be of service sir :-)
What's the necessary angle? 😳 I got the math skills but I'm missing the angle.
Do you let them have access to the nest boxs at night?
Ye the wire mesh allows the nest box to stay clean if they roost in there and mess the place
Nice design, I don't like the galvanised stuff either
Why.reasons
What is size L-W-H? thanks
the tray is 60cm by 240cm and the box is 40 x 40 x 240
Just can't deal with getting dizzy from watching the camera move all over the place.
Thank goodness, something in metric measurements at last. Where I live you can't even buy an imperial tape measure, everything is metric
Funny
I wanna ask you please
I appreciate this vid, but i get seasick watching, i keep leaning back trying to step back to watch what hes doing
what in the hell is a centimeter🇺🇸
