We just got some of these! and they all just want to lay on the shelf in their coop we even put a little bit of hay in it like their old nest boxes and taped the flaps up ? Any tips on how to get them to use the nest box?

Temporarily lower the nest box to floor level, put straw or wood shaving in the nest box. Again this would be temporarily 2-3 weeks. That should take care of your issue. Thanks!

Hello! The eggs sit on a nest pad that helps insulate them. Also, our team gathers our eggs before they have a chance to freeze. Hope this helps (:
How much would that set up cost. I'd like to start a operation like that
Depends on how much you want to spend but each one of those portable larger chicken trailers is around 5 to 6 grand. Each Nesting box is on average 200$ and the tarping/ custom trailer hitch for either a tractor or truck to pull is typically another 200$. Each trailer weighs about 3,000lbs so you'll need something that can tow it comfortably.
All in all just one trailer is around 7 to 10 grand, not including the vehicle to pull it.
I would suggest building your own. It would most likely be cheaper. I built my own and I paid about 4500$ for each of my trailers. The key is buying large stock at the right time when it is cheaper and easier to handle.

What time do you get up to open up the nester?
My solar lights come on at 6am. So I like to get the nest boxes open no later than 6:30am. Sometimes I will open the nest boxes after the hens have gone to bed. Then I can sleep in a little. ;)

Why shut the girls out of boxed at night? Do they lay better in the day?
Because they would sleep inside the nests and get them all dirty with poo. Hens don't lay eggs at night.
