I love this design, thank you so much for also sharing how you built it. I can do this myself. What I love the most is that I don't need the cage with it, I can have chickens roaming free and they come to the nest to lay an egg. I look forward to starting small
nice design. Since I am going to have a coop that is half person and half chicken, I am going to use your design, but change it up a bit. I am going to close off the side that you have where they go in, and open up the other side. then the egg collection will be in the ppl side of the coop. I can then put a bar for them to jump up on to go in and lay, or even a shelf. I will also put on the area I close off, able to open up also to see if there is a stuck egg or a chicken laying eggs.
Easy enough to build but if you turn the slop going the other way sloping out the coop you would not even have to going in the coop and no cleaning just a roosting bar o. The other side that can be push up to keep them out at night.

Thanks mate :-) polytunnels work real well for chicken houses. I haven't done a specific build vid for the roosts but if u have a look at how I made the cheap triangular greenhouse the structure is very similar it just has some diagonal braces and lots more 3x2's tieing to each triangle. 🤙🤙🤙
hello i like this permanent Chicken shelter, Do you have a video on making it or designs i can use was wondeiring whether you used Pvc pipes or steel tubes? i came across you while searching for nest box i deas and got much more and thank you.
I like the hardware cloth on the inside of the nesting box. I'm surprised the chickens don't want any straw or anything. Or did you remove some astro turf prior to doing the video? It looked really really clean. Do you power wash it periodically?
No wo we found they dont need the astro turf it just clogs up with turds. We occasionally use a boot brush on the inside wire and clean the lid with a sharp shovel but that's about it 👍
@@samuraioodon I believe he mentioned that it was a requirement, and the chicken poop is so acidic, that it would start corroding and rusting the standard metal one. Then you would have issues with your chickens.
The internal nest box area must total around 9 square metres for 1000 hens. Or you need 120 individual next boxes. The total area inside there house is 120 square metres floor space 👍

Picked up the PVC coated wire today. I'm going to build this so the eggs roll out the back so they can be collected from outside the coop.

Anything above chicken eye height is fine but if u leave 1m or so it reduces them laying under it instead of in it 🤣

Rats could go into the coop if you’d use this method

you need either 120 single chicken nest boxes or 8.4 sqm of nest space for ones like this. we have 9 nest boxes measuring 2.4m by 40cm for 1000
