    Can we just pretend season 8 never happened and the White Walkers are still marching south to seize all of Westeros rather than being defeated at the very first hurdle.

    if they can't do live action, we need atleast animated version of S7-S13 (Total seasons needed according to GRRM) and give proper ending to such a great story. I don't even re-watch GOT anymore due to that shitty S8

      Agree but imho it had problems going back to when they decided that white walkers were originally just some dudes that the children of the forest poked with some dragon glass. What a let down. Sometimes it is best to leave some lore as a mystery than giving it an unsatisfying origin story.

    In the show, white walkers are essentially just more robust wights; they seem to be entirely under the control of The Night King, and they're bound to him. As the Night King dies, they die as well. However, in the books, white walkers seem to have a culture and their own language, and on more than one occasion, they make an effort to communicate with people instead of straight-up attacking them.
    When we encounter an Other for the first time in the first book's prologue, Waymer Royce makes the first strike; the Other blocks it and speaks to him. Waymar interprets that as 'mocking' and keeps attacking it. Then, white walker strikes back.

    The White Walkers/Others were better in the books as the primordial/ethereal race that preceded every race including the children and giants, and also weren’t a stupid hive mind that could be easily defeated. They weren’t telepathically and physically linked to each other nor their wight servants, they were creatures who’s first members rose from the icy grounds of the land of always winter as embodiments of magic, and they resurrected dead corpses using necromancy instead of the warging excuse from the show. They were portrayed in the tv series as mindless undead robots and zombies instead of the more sophisticated race they were as in the books as in the books they were capable of allowing themselves to communicate and be intelligent to negotiate and also had their own culture religion language and civilization. They required humans to reproduce as their were basically unborn and thus didn’t have the biological systems to reproduce and needed humans to make half living half undead offspring as well as using babies to magically turn into pure white Walker others as well thus why the Night’s King married a princess/sorceress from their kind. Also the tv show didn’t bring up nor introduce the ice spiders and also other phenomena beyond the wall such as the genie trolls that gave people monkey’s paw type wishes. So much wasn’t explored in the tv show.

    • @Sstucash
      @Sstucash 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are making a lot of assumptions and have written your own ideas as if they are from the books. Ice spiders are not confirmed to real, no guarantee that the babies are turned into Others (crasters wives seem to hold this view but it not confirmed), we have no idea on the origin of the Others or whether they predate the children of the forest. As for the "genie trolls" I assume you are talking about snarks and grumpkins, once again no confirmation they exist. Where in the books does it say that wights are the result of necromancy as opposded to powerful warging skills?

    • @Brunhaam
      @Brunhaam 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I assumed GRRM had a purpose for them beyond the shows scope. I assume something along the lines of raising the amount of total undead he can have at once. So if one of the general walkers die the night king himself loses power.

      In that scene, there was only one White Walker present. The rest were "Wights," aka reanimated dead people.
      When Jon killed the sole White Walker, some but not all of the Wights died, so we're led to believe they were reanimated by, and under the control of that White Walker.

    One thing that never made any sense was in season 2 or 3, when Jon, Sam and the others were patrolling beyond the wall and the 3 horn blasts went off, and the others ran back to the wall to get away, and Sam stayed behind because of fear and not being able to run. It shows the white walker basically stroll up beside him while he was hiding behind the rock and look at him, clearly see him and do nothing. They were maybe half a km or less from the wall, and it showed the army of the undead with a few white walkers clearly going to the wall to attack. Cut to the next episode and Sam is fine, no undead are attacking the wall and they aren't anywhere near the wall.
    That scene made absolutely no sense.

      According to the official lore on Fire immunity - Just as with the White Walkers under his control, the Night King was immune to fire due to the extreme cold he radiated. During the Wight hunt, he was seen walking through a wall of dragon fire unharmed, his mere presence causing it to flicker and go out. He was also completely unharmed by direct dragon fire, as he showed no signs of damage or weakness after being completely engulfed in Drogon's flames during the Battle of Winterfell.
      DRAGON Glass (SEASON 6) - The Night King sends his army of Wights to attack the tunnels, ... one of the other White Walkers is killed by a dragonglass-tipped spear thrown by Meera.
      So Answer, is yes To Fire, no to dragon glass, ironically the glass that brought them into existence is the same that could remove them from existence

      @@mcaleer007 I know all of this about the white walkers, even the Night Kin's immunity to fire as well as dragon fire
      Dragon glass works on white walkers because they weren't created by dragon glass, they were created by the Night King himself, who was created, in part, using dragon glass
      That's why I believe that he, and he alone, is immune to dragon glass weapons

    I personally dont like that haelena or daemon according to leaks is seeing visions of 100 years ahead of their time.. or that the show is trying to correct dnd game of thrones failures i mean the white walkers is seperate from fire and blood they dont come until after winter... the only thing ice and fire is jace agreement with the north. Why are they tieing the war or dance of dragons with the winds of winter or feast for crows which they refer more to the others... in the books there were no dreamers in this war... it was just dragons everything else is show creation even the riverlands.. and the poeple in kingslanding who are calling rhaenyra cruel at this time is too early in my opinion they dont hate... they love her more than aegon and aemond and they have sympathy for haelena which creates love for her but they dont hate the realms delight people came to fight and die for the dragon queen the riverlands came to fight and die for the realms delight and viserys little girl... it wasnt just oaths but because they remember her in her youth when she would visit the riverlands remember she is the most beautiful in seven kingdoms according to the books... and daemon no matter if he is about 50 in this war he remains the most dangerous man in westeros are they minimizing these characters.. they just made daemon completely irratic he is impatient wreckless his plans doesnt work or have true affect his threats arent real daemon isnt feared... i mean rhaenyra is weaker now yes she was vulnerable in the books but even then she not a weakling or undecisive though i mean even the green faction starting this war havent got impact... the story that fire and blood tell me eventhough it has so many events is better to me it holds more impact the actions the character does holds more impact i just feel like the dragons is the show not the characters even the war itself is not impactful because it starts over aegons name which it did when she first named her son after aegon the conqueror and her second son aemond after jahearys son who had a claim to the throne as well i mean it holds more impact because they started it for multiple reasons because if rhaenyra sit the throne daemon would rule and otto would be the first to kill and he would want to kill the deceitful snakes criston cole said if rhaenyra rules her bastards would as well that the red keep wouldnt be safe from daemon and rhaenyra alicent says a son comes before a daughter so they drove this war and made a blood oath so they would die together and never falter from usurping the throne from rhaenyra no matter what even if she was the best queen as alixent says she would make a fine queen... i just dont like these changes and i understand that there would be some but not on this scale.. this is my opinion... but i hope it gets better from here i have faith

    If you wanted to continue the trash that D&D made you could say the Night King was not the Night King but a Night Prince thus the crown and power. The real Night King is sitting on his thrown plotting his next move then the trash could continue. Going from the season 2 finale of HotD and the shelving of the Jon Snow series I would say they are doing a desperately needed course correction to align with the Horn of Winter. That would also explain why they left out all of the D&D content from HotD.
