Just put together the Wendigo kit last night (rolling chassis no body yet). I took it out side to test run the chassis. 3S 25C 1100MAh pack. No kidding, within 30 seconds (might have been less) the plastic steering tie rod end where the servo meets the steering tie rod broke at the plastic hoop where the metal ball joint goes through. Just sheered under SERVO STEERING POWER. We're not talking a Reef's Triple 7 or some other crazy power servo here either! Icronicly I am using a Hexfly (redcat brand) 25KG servo (which i believe is the same "amazon" 25KG servos, just rebranded!).
Within 30 seconds or less of running it I'm going have to pull that part and use the 1 remaining replament that comes on the parts tree! I contacted Redcat and they were happy to have me fill out the warranty form to get a replacment, which is good customer service, but the guy seemed "shocked" like he hasn't heard of this before. Yeah right! I asked about aluminum replacements. They don't have any, but in his words "we have different hopups on order".
This is no different then my Redcat Gen8 Scout II. Everytime I've ever taken that crawler out I've had to replace a part. No joke. And I'm not hard on my stuff. This is an expensive enough hobby. I don't need to bash my vehicles. That damn Gen8 is nearly 100% aluminum at this point! I have dozens of crawlers from nearly all other brands, including "non-name brands" like MST, GMADE and RST along with all of the top brands like Traxxas, Axial, Tamiya, Losi. None of my other vehicles have I had to replace something that wasn't direclty as a result of me pushing it outside of it's intended design and usage and even then, very rarely. Redcat on the other hand, I can't even test out a rolling chassis for 30 seconds without something breaking!
Their stuff was better was it was just rebranded chinese stuff!
You can't buy a Redcat without first knowing that what you think you "saved" because it was WAY cheaper than competitive models will be MORE than made up for by purchasing replacment parts and "hopups" to prevent future breakage!
    Get it together REDCAT!

I have a Redcat Blackout XTE with flat no dished wheels and that thing fell over if you looked at it . Put some Volcano dished wheels on it and it made a world of difference .

Hello, I really like how you have set up your Wendingo.
Can you tell me what light bar you put across the top, and what rims and tires you put on it?

Great improvements on performance you have changed the handling so much with relatively straight forward tweaks ,can't wait for the wendigo to reach the UK.

Sorry J. I got your comment. I'm not sure it will show up for Triple X. =) I can't remember what gear but, because of the larger mass. It gives the pinion more teeth to run on. Takes the Quick bite out of it.

Those end links didn't strip out, they snap back on! That truck uses ball screws (unless it isn't like every other RC vehicle on the market), and those end links snap back onto the ball screws!
