On the issue of tires being hard and stiff I spray WD40 on the tires and let it soak in. It softens the rubber and helps with traction. I enjoy your videos and use Holmes Hobby motors in most of my crawlers. Thanks John
BTW that’s a track day tip. Some tracks won’t let you do any tire dressings but they’re out there. I prefer liquid wrench and Simple Green for my tires though.
Redcat actually has an amazing warranty and customer support system. My gen 8 had a ton of issues that were basically user error but Redcat was willing to replace anything that I broke, axle parts, transmission parts, etc. they don’t ask many questions they just replace whatever part number you send them.
Google User I agree and since that Redcat has been repaired it was sold as soon as the parts were delivered. I didn’t even bother fixing it. I too own several different brands and have several custom competition rigs and not one of them have redcat products on them. It was a cool rig to start off my addiction because it taught me that things do break and that fixing them is a huge part of the hobby but luckily since I ditched the Gen 8 I haven’t had to “fix” so much and have time and money to upgrade. Maybe because the rig I had was so new and it broke within a month and that’s why they were willing to help me but I understand your frustration and have seen it all okay out on Facebook since I was a member of those groups and saw them literally deteriorate.
IT'S COMIN' RITE FOR US!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍 Was waiting to see Jimbo shooting at the 'dingo! 🤣🤣 Awesome vids on the Wendigo. Prob be my next kit. 👌 liking my gen 8 alot too. Cheers ✌
I just had one of my rod ends pull out myself on my Gatorkeeper last night . I call my rock racer Gatekeeper, Gatorkeeper , because it’s in a hurry to gator spin right on its lid without paying strict attention!! Time for weight down yonder.😝
Hi John I got replacement parts too from Redcat, I jumped over a dune and landed on a stump popped the glue on the tires too so I got aluminum beadlocks, I just use needle nose pliers on pivit balls arrrrr lol 😆 always entertaining and educational see ya next time 😎👍
Hey John, I've had a smile on my face for most of the video !! 👍 You are definetly funny ! I look forward to your videos, but they only happen once a month, but I know you "R" probably very busy. 😂 Nice to know there is some creative life forms out there. -Thanx a million X !!
The shock pliers I used are from Tekno, I wish I would have bought them years ago, and I cant wait to get one of those 4100 R motors for a build I'm starting soon
I have a shock pliers set from amazon just a cheapo but works great, also have learned that the axes are same width as ar60s so I swapped for incision wraith steering link, I personally don't like the steering link set in the steering link, i like it on the hub
Hey, so I watched your video and my hub nut is always coming loose you said blue loctite how bad will that bite me in the long run? And I did a 4pcs beadlock wheel change and beefier hub swap and I broke what I believe to be my front cv stud? I’m new to the rc world and was wondering if you could do a video short video on how to change this? Or access it?. I also am driving the wendigo! Thanks
Castle 3800kv slate /mamba x + j concepts firestorms. Lasts 30 seconds at a time on the passenger side, literally rips the wheels right off the truck. but got 2 aluminum hubs yesterday, maybe it won't instantly strip the hexes......monster truck seem to have a shorter lifespan than my crawlers...... Only 12 rigs/ 5 brushless bashers /crawlers/drag/ drift........i got a problem.
i put 8 fling king jr 2.6 tires with Krimson Dual Truck Wheels, sidewinder 4 esc and putnam 27t motor , 2s new wave batteries , raw 500 servo , integy piggyback shocks , Flysky G7P controller , Integy RC Model C29935SILVER Complete Front & Rear Axle Conversion Kit for Axial 1/10 Wraith . at the time i didnt no about you so i tossed the putnam motor in it . so now that you no what this build has what motor would you put in it ?
To be honest Mr Holmes I was kind of scared to look up "ball pliers" on the internet. Next thing you know my emails would be inundated with all kinds of crazy "tools"

Also, wd40 every rtr plastic arms on ANY rtr u get. Makes the plastic give, not break. (I've done that for 40+ years!)
Liquid wrench works good too. I also use Simple Green to make em sticky.
BTW that’s a track day tip. Some tracks won’t let you do any tire dressings but they’re out there. I prefer liquid wrench and Simple Green for my tires though.
Some shock shaft pliers have a spot for installing/removing pivot balls
Is that what that leather punch looking thing on it’s for? Ha, learn something new every week.
@@KTMcaptain it might be, if its in the middle, if its near the ends its a punch for venting tires
Darwin Bohnke it’s in the middle. No way I can get a tire in there for venting though. I thought that’s what it was for originally.
Lol! literally laughed out loud at your pirate joke!
I did too lol
Wooohhhooo Wynona is back!!!! Nice fixes brother. I have been thinking about getting one for awhile now.

I still use that same little t-wrench that came in my Tamiya Blackfoot kit when I was a kid in the 80's. Never goes out of style.
Indica or sativa?
You should never make someone choose between one or the other thats just cruel.....lol
Its good whatever it is.
The Twisted Hexes sounds like a great rock band!
Absolutely Hilarious!!! All of that for 2 minuets of glory before you lost your nut 🤘😂🤘

3/4 ugah dugah, got it 👍
The spinning hexes happens with the factory power on 3s! Definitely have to change the wheels.
And the tires come off the bead from the factory also
Wheel nuts on this rig always come loose all these problems have been on stock power with 3s
9:15 I swear you gotta be diiiii-rectly related to the late Bob Ross, cause that is the most Bob Ross phrase I've ever heard. LOL.

On the subject of loose nuts I had an old scx10 that always came loose so I put an extra nut on the axle stub. After that I never had another issue.
I would like to put the Wendigo body on the Gen8 II.. That would be pretty cool..
So if I get the wendigo kit the stripped steering links shouldn’t be a problem if installed correctly?
Shock pliers have a ball end tool built into them. I borrowed a set from a friend while doing my SCX10iii. After that I had to buy a set.
1/2 Ugga Dugga....🤣
ARRRRR!!! Sometimes you remind of a mix between Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers combined with an excellent sense of humor, lol
Dynamite also makes an e-clip tool too
Your wheel nut wrench. The rod end. A hex driver to slide into the ball. Tap the rod end on or off the pivot balls.
Tekno makes some shock shaft pliers that have a ball end tool built in its sweet
The pirate joke ha ha good one
my wife hates when i say "uga Duga" lmao great video John..
John hot racing and others make a shock shaft pliers with a ball end remover installer
Love your videos! Loose nuts, lol... You should watch my Wendigo squirrel tag video, that left front wheel nut... With blue locktite even... 😎

Do you tighten BOFA?
OMG,, I couldn't even watch the end. For I was laughing so hard,, at all those nuts,

Hey Ryan... This Underhill has an RC problem too! 14 crawlers, 3 -1/16 , 2 - nitro , 1/2 dozen another 10 scale trucks........... Oye! ~;+}>

I like the looks of the Wendigo but it's my most problematic RC....It always needs repaired or replacement parts....
On the wheel nut situation, I start with 2 rigs and go home when I've lost 5 nuts. Why do some rigs never have that problem?
Finally this dude fixes his winnona dingo... 🤣
My hex broke the wheel on my redcat gen8 the first time I took it out. I love the truck but redcat really needs to change the wheels they use.
I need a pair of Ball Poppers to get my Wynona Ryder up to speed *=*
Gotta love that end... Why do I have an extra nut in my hand. Lol

To be honest Mr Holmes I was kind of scared to look up "ball pliers" on the internet. Next thing you know my emails would be inundated with all kinds of crazy "tools"
Manufacturing torque spec -- 3/4 Ugga dugga. LOL!
My opinion on redcat is that their vehicles have a few quirks and then they’re ok
Shoulda put a ball pliers hashtag in the description... Just saying
Shock and Pivot ball tool made by Tekno
May make life easier🤔

Too,
HOW in the world does a famous motor building, technical, rc dude NOT have "ball link pliers"?!?;?;
probably the one tool I don't have!
I have some ,but they were not at the hobby house. Wasn't expecting to lose a nut!
@@HolmesHobbies
I so hate when I lose, or blow a nut?!
Best be careful with those nuts bud😂
Dont feel bad it took me 30yrs of rc before I bought either tool
Need more uggadugga
