    Hey Jason, I had to come back and watch again. These Autotune settings, do these need to be "set" prior to data logging (riding the bike) or can they be adjusted after data logging but prior to importing the log files for Autotuning? I am confused because you can adjust these on the laptop without loading to the bike via ECU flash. So, do these Autotune settings need to be flashed to the bike prior to data logging? Or can you set the parameters after data logging but prior to Autotune and flashing the ECU? Thoughts??

    • @MantisRacing

      They can be set anytime. The settings are filters. The reading is captured regardless and logged. Import a file with the current settings and filters. Notice the count used at the bottom. Change the filter settings and the logs get reimported with the new settings and the count used changes.

    Basically, my 78, 89, 100 TPS are near money on Target AFR (+/- .3 of Target AFR 12.8). However, I am still seeing cells elsewhere on the TPS Map that are logged as low as 11.9 and as high as 14.7 from my Target of 13.3. I am trying to gauge which settings would be best to dial in these rogue cells. I been selecting ONLY the cells on my TPS Map that are outside of a +/- .3 parameter of Target AFR and Autotuning those cells only. It's just taking too long to dial in with a 10% Max Fuel and 10% Strength. Should I go back up to a 15% or 25% Strength for those individually selected cells?

      Do you feel the difference? Do you know if they have been TC influenced? Are they in a normal throttle area of the map? If I don't feel them I would apply the map and drive it for a while to get a very large data sample.

    Jason, I wrote to Woolich and pending their response; when you are setting your Autotune Filter Maximum % Change (fuel), I see you leave this at 10%. What if you have a few cells that are in need of a 12% change, can you reset the settings to 12% to capture those higher cells? Or do you suggest to use 10% and Autotune twice, or three times, if necessary using smaller fuel adjustments?

    • @MantisRacing
      @MantisRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i leave it at 10%. Eventually it will fall in.

      Mine pops slightly after leaning out the iap decel section of the map. I can hear it on track, but it isn't like the stock sound.

    Good tutorial. Here's a question for you: After you open Autotune, load up your data logs, view the Logged AFR, Data Count, Target AFR, % Map Change, and click Auto Tuned Map, what the heck are those numeric values representing on the map? For example, I see a numeric value of 947 in TPS 14 / RPM 1600, and when I click "Show Original Map" it changes to 916. For the life of me, I can not decipher what this numeric value represents. Do you?

    • @MantisRacing
      @MantisRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a number representing fueling. To the best of my knowledge it is just a computer unit used to calculate inj pulse width. Higher number is more fuel.

    Ok I don’t have experience tuning but definitely not new to motor stuff or mechanical stuff, with the auto tune will I be able to tune it myself or will I mess More up? I have a different bike then you also not sure if that matters

    • @MantisRacing
      @MantisRacing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bike should not matter. My settings are to keep the bike smoother and transition to full throttle fueling quicker. IF the AT is installed correctly and you are able to read the logs and know if they make sense then everything will be ok. Limiting the strength and the percent change allowed would prevent drastic changes from taking place. I don't know if this is the video, but in one I recognize a change in the middle of the table and know something wasn't right with the reading. I hope this helped some. If you have more questions I will try to answer them.

    Back again.... Can I ask; what is your interpretation of the IAP Map? How do you "read" it? Is it read left to right (60 - 0) or right to left (0 - 60)? I am trying to understand what IAP columns overlap the TPS. Is it the right side columns or the left side columns? I know on the TPS Map, the IAP Map crosses over approximately "10-15%" into the TPS Map. And if this is a true statement, then the IAP would crossover through TPS 0.6, 1.7, 2.8, 3.8, 5.1, 7.2, 9.4, 12, 14, and 16. So, again, what part of the IAP Map starts this crossover? Is it IAP 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, 1, 0 > 0.6 TPS, > 16 TPS etc.

      Iap is engine vacuum. Idle will be in the middle top of table.
      Wot will be in the far right or 80-100% tps.
      Engine brake will be in the far left
      Use the log feature and watch the iap map.
      Even though you might use tps map the iap will track.

    In addition, I see your Autotune Strength % is set at 25. Does this 25% "strength" effect the 10% fuel? Meaning, a cell that requires 10% fuel at 10% maximum % change would get 10%. But if the Autotune Strength % is 25, does that mean you get 25% of the 10% fuel requirement, which is 2.5%.

    • @MantisRacing
      @MantisRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know that answer. As I understand it strength acts like feedback on a control circuit. It prevents constant overshooting of target afr. by liiting the amount of change. The calculation you mention makes sense. I don't know if the change is before or after the percent change is calculated. Understand there is no feedback to the ECU calculated fuel. It will never be as precise as a car with O2 feedback control. This is an important concept to understand. The ecu just goes to a table and looks up a value based off programmed parameters. It has no idea of humidity, up hill, down hill, wind resistance, rider weight, friction, etc. Add all of these varying parameters up and the ecu will never be 100% accurate. It is always a best guess. The closer you are on a base map the better the bike runs.

      @@MantisRacing Jason, I figured the answer to my own question by playing around with the settings. The problem as I see is two-fold; an Autotune Filter Maximum % Change (Fuel) set at 10% eliminates any fuel changes for cells that require greater fuel above 10%. For example, initial tunes that may require 14.2 or 15.7% fuel will not be included in the settings since it is capped out at 10%. Opening up the Maximum % Change to 16% will include all cells up to the 15.7%. Now, the second part is this; a 100% Autotune Strength will allow for a 15.7% fuel change (+/-). But, an Autotune Strength of 50% will lower that fuel percentage to what Autotune calculates (approximately 7-9% only of the 15.7% requirement). I played with the settings for literally hours and noticed this. So, anyone who is starting out, I would suggest opening Maximum % Change for fuel to 25%, Autotune Strength to 100% and look at their maps. Take note of the highest % Fuel Change identified (say, 15.7%), then lower that 25% initial setting down to match the 15.7% highest cell. This will include all cells up to and including the cell requiring 15.7% fuel. The second time I Autotune, I would leave the 15.7% and scan the map for th ehighest fuel requirement. The fuel requirements should have drastically reduced with 100% Autotune Strength from the first Autotune. At this point, if the next highest fuel % change is say, 7.2%, then I would suggest the maximum Fuel % Change of 15.7% be reduced to 7.2% and still leave the Autotune Strength at 100%. Once these parameters get down to 3-5% Fuel requirements is when I would adjust the Autotune Strength down to 50%. The bottom line is, the user/tuner must pay attention to the cells. Identify the highest fuel requirements and set the Maximum % Change to match the highest cell, then work their way down with each Autotune thereafter. It's no wonder my fuel been taking forever to dial in at 10% Fuel and 10% Strength; I been getting 10% of my 10% fuel (and that would be 1-2% of fuel when I really needed 10%!!))
