- THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST HIDDEN RICE TERRACE MOUNTAIN CAFES I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN THE PHILIPPINES!
Randomly walking up some rice terraces at the base of mountains in Valderrama Antique... I was really surprised to find a local cafe with an amazing menu and food! Seriously, this was freaking awesome! After enjoying the mountain views and cafe food... I planned a climb!
In this video, we conquer Mt. Igduao and really find out why Antique Province truly is from mountains to sea! It was amazing walking through rice terraces, forest, open plateaus, and along mountain ridges. Panay Island is beautiful in the Philippines.... and climbing here in Valderrama was simply amazing!

What made this even more magical? I had no clue the place existed... just saw a sign at 5pm while roaming on my scooter... and saw the ridges hoping I could climb.

Wow... I spent my childhood days in Tibiao, Antique and have passed by Valderrama then but I have never gone to where Kulas climb and viewed the hidden rice terraces of the place. Several mountains were mentioned by the guide who knows the place so well. I am familiar with Mt. Maja-as, the majestic mountain, that can be viewed from the Antique School of Fisheries in Tibao. Every morning when I wake up then, the majestic view of Mt. Maja-as never fails to amaze me. Whenever I go home from Tibao Central School to home, I walk facing the view of the majestic mountain. The school where my dad was the high school principal has a wide-open space that gives one a great view of the mountain and the river streams up there are visible. Those were the days, 50 years ago but are still vivid in my mind.
Kyle, that's a very nice adventure hiking up the tall mountains on your trail. I've heard Benito explained one of those mountains, Mt. Baloi. I remember my father, a veteran of WWll telling us stories a long time ago during the Japanese occupation. They were assigned there as advance party to meet the American GIs from Australia bringing guns, ammos, foods and other logistical needs for the liberation of the Philippines. He's now resting at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

It's almost impossible to not get such spectacular drone shots when you have such amazing beauty to work with, but the views are unsurpassed. Nice job! Benito is such a beast handling that climb and leading you to the peak - legend!!! And the food looked so incredible. I can't believe all the gourmet level food found in the most remote places around the PH. That cafe is 100% fire! Great food, great views, great building/architecture.

Hi Jesabe. Couldn't help replying to another subscriber of Kulas from Pandan, Antique. I was born in this place too tho I grew up in Taguig where I reside till now. Si Nanay is a Saracanlao from Botbot while si Tatay is from Callan. My yearly vacation made me cherish Antique so much. So proud of our province that in every visit I bring friends and officemates along so they can also savor the meeting of the mountains and the sea. All my guests say that Antique is truly beautiful and blessed. By the way, i can speak fluently the karay-a dialect, my lola's hardwork. She is a Barrientos from Sta. Fe, Pandan. I always follow your vlog ever since, I think for me this is the coolest discovery of vlog. I didn't know that place exist.
I remember a friend of mine who became a doctor he hails from Antique , son of a poor farmer yet he was smart and passion to finish medicine . He was a great inspiration and big help to the community. Dad to say he passed away years ago in New York City , he was about to leave for the UK for a scholarsjip grant for further studies. Each time I hear of Antique I am reminded of my friend and the hope of young people in our country. There's always hope ! Power on Kulas! Power on Philippines!

my father was a WWII vet and then served for 30 yrs in military, during the war he was with the guerilla movement in the Visayas and Antique was one of the islands where they hid, the places you mentioned were the same places he mentioned in his stories about his war life, he was a foot soldier so he really had to transfer from one place to another, this is the only time I see what these places look like, thru your video and I appreciate it so much...

That is an amazing place to decide to establish a restaurant. It looks extremely out of the way meaning you ready must want to go to that restaurant to eat but it definitely looks like it was worth it. That might even rate as a bucket list restaurant. Awesome sunset to have your tea too.

More to discover in my home province of Antique, Sir. Every town there have beautiful spots if you've time to visit each one of them. Especially the towns where mountain meets the sea. That is the towns of Bugasong, Laua-an, Barbaza, Tibiao, Culasi, Pandan, up to Caluya and Libertad.
