- Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is a liver disorder that occurs in pregnant women. Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy usually becomes apparent in the third trimester of pregnancy.

My wife has same problem in eight month and she was diagnosed with urso and her bile acid level came down from 131 to 36 within 3 weeks then doctor advised us to do induced labour but we are not ready for this and we waited for natural delivery and got success .. Baby born after 9 months safe and healthy .... Those who were suffering from same problem please note that if your bile acid level is more than 100 you need to worry otherwise not and keep checking fetal movement and fetal heart beat in 72 hours ... Dont worry fetal distress rate in this condition is only 10 percent and still birth rate is less than 1 percent ... Don't consume oil and fast drink plenty of coconut water empty stomach .. And pray to God ... Don't induce labour as it will definately a c section delivery directly go to c section if required

Hello, I would need some more history to guide you better. However, looks like a problem of cervical incompetence in her case. Consider putting a prophylactic cervical stitch in next pregnancy.

Hi, Yes sometimes Cholestasis of pregnancy can occur early. It is known to cause complications like preterm laboir, fetal distress, IUGR etc. I would recommend visiting your obstetrician in person for evaluation and management. Take care

Hi, Total bile acid value of 51 suggests obstetric cholestasis. I would recomend to visit your obstetrician for treatment and regarding mode of delivery like whether Normal or C section depends upon the baby consition, pregnancy comorbidities. Your Obstetrician will take a call depending upon babies growth and your progress .
