There should be a local transit map. Most people simply ask around for which bus goes where. The local ones don't go to cenotes, they're more for in the cities, but what you could do is take a colectivo or bus to a nearby town that does have cenotes and pay a tuk tuk driver to take you to different ones for the day. Hey amigo! If I'm not mistaken, the city buses run from the hotel zone to the downtown all night long, but they're just less frequent. In any case, I'd say that the safest way to move around is Uber (the buses are fine in general, but Uber takes you off the street quicker). As a rule of thumb, I'd avoid Cancun taxis if I could, as they have an unfortunate tendency to scam tourists. As with any Mexican city, avoid walking alone by night as much as you can.
@ramblingandroving Thank you for clarifying that Ubers are okay to use. I was under the impression that Uber use was frowned upon and risky because of the beef between taxis and Uber drivers
great tips! I am going to Cancun next week , but I heard parque de las palapas is under renovation is it still visitable? or is there any alternate spot to check out to see night market scene with street food and souvenirs?

Your question is gold 😂 I would say take it slow. It's not so much the risk of actual food poisoning (that can even happen in high end restaurants) it's that the bacteria in food is different, so give your body time to adapt, depending on how long you're there for.
