what was in the other quart? can you mix varieties of veggies when canning? I am definitely not able to exhaust 70 minutes, after expending the steam for ten minutes at the cost of propane for two tiny quarts. what veggies would compliment each other in canning at pressure? Let's say, for a Spring garden harvest, since spinach is early.
+mrshammerhankus We don't think it would be an issue to can different types of vegetables, while we don't have specifically any videos over that we encourage you to check out other canning videos we have posted. Thanks for watching! th-cam.com/users/OKGardeningClassicssearch?query=Canning
My jars leaked I think. No cracks. Just once cooled the jar is only half full of liquid. First time using my pressure canner. Suggestions for why this happened?
You remove the lid so that if the jar doesn’t seal properly or if you have a “fake seal” (ie it seals but then unseals later), you’ll know as air would be able to get into the jar. That way, mold can grow and you can tell that it didn’t properly seal.
Because it no longer keeps that vibrant green color after canning. I rather dehydrate it in my Excalibur and the vacuum seal it in mason jars with the Foodsaver jar sealer adapter.
I was going to ask if there was a way to can it without a pressure cooker but did some research and found out it can't, what worries me is how can you tell if it went bad, from what I've found botulism doesn't give out an odor and can't be seen, is there a way to detect it? I understand that when following proper procedure chances are very small, probably next to none, but had to ask.
The jar will also begin to grow mold so you’ll be able to tell that way. But if you check out the CDC website, botulism is more common in store brought food vs home canning and the chances of dying is very small.
Thank you for this video. It was very understandable & thorough. I enjoy the channel.

Need captions for hearing impaired please
I was wondering why you remove the band on the jar? Is there a reason for that or can you leave the band lid on?

@@Growinginchristjesus Ok I get it. Thank you.
Also, leaving the band on can lead to rust
