Ergotech makes the best single monitor mounts. The WideScreen Gaming Forum editions of the Ergotech stands are the best multi-monitor stands. Great comprehensive review too.
I've owned a Freedom Arm HD for more than a year. It's great. I'm running it out of speck at a 35 inch ultra-wide, but it hasn't had issues at all. I'm within the weight limit, but I'd never try portrait mode out of speck on the diagonal, like this, because rotational weight is a thing and the panel would probably swivel face-down. But in landscape, that's not been a problem. Five stars. I'd likely say that even if it cost 200$, and I'm by no means rich.
if i purchase this, and want to put another monitor later. is their an option to just buy the 2nd arm and attach it to the base without having to buy another whole set
HardwareCanucks Shame it's only reasonably priced in the states... $165 is the cheapest from a canadian retailer. If I could get it for $80 like it is on amazon.com I'd order 2 immediately.
Just got this arm today and sending it back. All is accurate in this review, but it has no tilt adjustment. I need to customize the tilt and this monitor has no option for that adjustment. I'm bummed because i wanted to keep this one. My monitor sits on a custom shelf that's above eye level. It is a great product if you have a standard workstation for gaming and productivity. If your using it for a cross between home theater and gaming not at a desk , Look else where. Also make sure to check the weight of your monitor. you can get the standard one that supports up to 17.8 lbs or the hd model that supports between 20 and 30 lbs. If your monitor falls between 17.8 and 20 lbs it might not maintain its position if you go with the hd version from what i read. Great quality. Bummmmed i have to send it back.
Timothy John Aguilar Thanks for the great response! If you have any questions you can always contact us via our contact support on our site: www.ergotechgroup.com
Thanks for the review. How much force does it take to adjust the height of the monitor (mainly lifting it up) ? Are you just pushing gently with a couple of fingers while the spring does the work or lifting the actual weight of the monitor? I hurt my back so it needs to be very very light for me to use it.
looking at how much the base moves when he's bending it down or moving it scares me. Although, I'm sure adding wood underneath and maybe even on top would keep it extremely supportive depending how thin your desk is. I just got it off walmart for $62.
Shoot I think it could get the Damn Innovative award as well. Very impressive and will probably get once I have a desk that supports it. (My desk is fixed to the wall...)
@Hardware Canuck- thanks for the review. how were you able to adjust the high moving it up and down. if i move the monitor down it goes back up. tightening spring didn't help.
I just bought mine and the "small metal piece" from 3:25 is "missing". I mean, it wasn't mentioned in the manual, contents list or anywhere else, so I'm just guessing mine is a newer model and it doesn't need one. What do you think, HardwareCanucks ? Cheers and thanks for this video and many others, which made me by so many tech products.
Hey guys, nice review! Could you tell me, what is the minimum horizontal (not vertical) under-desk clearance you need for the clamp to go be fully pressed against the edge?
About 3 and a half inches, without getting the calipers out. I presume this is to make it through a backplate of some kind on your desk? Make sure there's still a way to get your hand in to turn the knob for the clamp mechanism :)
What is the best arm from your opinion these days ? I've been looking into buying one for my 27'' BENQ. Any recommendations except this one? Or maybe something better than this, or this is still the best ?
About 174 USD here in India right now. Can you please suggest any alternatives around the 100 USD price range. Maybe they are cheaper here. BTW the review was damGud!
I bought two for an iMac and used one and it is a good investment BUT my problem is I have a VESA screen for the other and need to source a mount to replace the iMac mount. Please advise where can I source this mount? thanks
Ok question, at 4:04 to 4:06 when you showed it going a full 90 degrees. It looks like that is each way to the side, but what about up and down? Can the monitor go fully flat facing up or down? I'm specifically wanting to know if it will face directly downwards.
If I want to use this with a dual monitor setup would I have to buy two of them? Or could I buy one and then buy just an arm without the part that connects to the desk? And if so where, keep in mind I live in Canada.
Hi, I was wondering if the mount comes with a way to adapt the DELL ST series monitors, as the VERSA mount system they have is different. I would so much so love to purchase these Ergotech arms!
=\ the back of my desk has a 2x4 brace so the area I have to clamp a vesa arm to is 6 inches. Unless the clamp was deep enough to go around this & just clamp to the inside of only the desk top itself which is about 2 inches thick.
I have a shallow desk and want to maximize the distance between the screen and my eyes. I'm only interested in a stand cause I hope it will allow me to push my monitor as far back as possible, even if that means the arm projecting past the edge of the desk toward the wall.. meaning I'm happy to pull the desk away from the wall it that means the monitor can float as far back as possible. Can this device help in this regard?
I just mounted mine around two weeks ago, first in the middle of the table, then to the side. It really depends on what area you want it to be operational in. For me, I found the arm to be more adjustable when mounted a bit to the side, so its a bit stretched all the time, but its a personal preference.
Mounted mine last night. The center of the pole is about 4 inches offset to the right. It really doesn't matter too much where you mount it, because with the right adjustment of height and distance the arm can get the monitor to the center.
I have a doubt. The height adjustment depends on the monitor's weight? Because I have the freedom arm with a BenQ XL2411Z and I can't make it go down...when I push it, it goes down and it goes up again when I stop pushing.
Any one here have a good suggestion for a replacement stand for the Qnix 27inch. It's got 100mm VESA and all I need it to do is stay in place while being more stable than cheap stand that comes mounted on the display, and be as cheap as possible.
I have a 5/16" thick tempered glass desk. I did the calculations and the surface is made to hold over 300lbs. My only concern is the torque that the bass would have on the desktop. Do you think it would be fine? Being that it's tempered glass? I did a little test myself and put a 25lbs weight upright on the edge of my desk and it held. My monitor weights 14.8lbs alone.
+Lo Studios Not sure why a desk mount has anything to do with keeping tempered glass cleaner or dirty. regardless I got a monitor arm for the glass desk, just sandwiched two pieces of plexiglass between the desktops to help disperse the weight of the system
Lo Studios ahhh ok I see what you mean. But no with the mounting technique I used it does not at all look like the tempered glass is going to break. I have a 14lbs monitor + 11lbs monitor arm on the desk fully extended out and the desk seems to be giving on signs of potentially breaking. The PlexiGlass solution I used works really well
It has very good design concepts and very beautifully well built, I must say. The price tag is a VERY toxic however, and consumers should not shell out hundreds of dollars for a few pieces of metal.
What happened if you have your desk all the way up against the wall? Can I still use the swivel? Btw will this monitor works with lg 34 inch monitor? It fits the suggested weight limit but is not 27 inch but 34 instead. Thanks.
Well, you won't be able to put the monitor or the arm through where your wall is, solid objects have this whole 'collision' thing. Anywhere that the wall isn't, though, the swivel will work fine. Unless, of course, you use a larger than recommended size monitor. In which case, it might not quite make it to 90 degrees on the axes where it advertises you can turn that face 90 degrees, since the extra width/height of the monitor might bump into parts of the stand that are less than 17 inches away from the mounting point. And if it is under the advertised weight limit, no problems should arise there.
Fantastic review. Product aside, your filming is great, you take your time, and really explain it! I will definitely come back for more reviews.
This bad boy is OUTRAGEOUSLY AWESOME.....THANK YOU HardwareCanucks!
I was like..I really hope HardwareCanucks does Monitor arm reviews....I'm never disappointed. You guys rock.
If anyone was wondering the background music is "Dejans - Missing You"

That arm has a nice biceps, so strong!
man your reviews and the production of them are fantastic
I hope Ergotech give you a small reward for the increase in sales they're about to get from this video review.
if i purchase this, and want to put another monitor later. is their an option to just buy the 2nd arm and attach it to the base without having to buy another whole set
Up to this day it is still one of the best arms to get. Getting it for my 34inch ultra wide curved monitor.
Plz inform us if it is good for 34" too
Thanks for the video, I'm getting a new monitor Saturday and this looks like a good solution for me.
Me: I wish I bough that monitor arm
*sees Price*
Runs back to cheapo $60 dual monitor stand
These actually sell for around $99 on amazon.
HardwareCanucks
Shame it's only reasonably priced in the states... $165 is the cheapest from a canadian retailer.
If I could get it for $80 like it is on amazon.com I'd order 2 immediately.
Very true...
HardwareCanucks $$$$
Check out the price on massdrop for the freedom arm right now.
If only they had a model that supported 2 monitors. Please Ergotech, I beg you!
You have to purchase another freedom arm and stack it on the pole, 2 is supported but might as well purchase one with 2 already compatible.
On the bottom right... www.ergotechgroup.com/freedom-arm-pc.html
davesplatz Darn it, gotta do research before I comment. Thank you kind sir!
Ergotech Group can you stick 3 without it looking like shit?

Wow, didn’t know this channel was this old.
Highly recommend the HD version of this arm for ultra wide monitors. Highly Recommended.Used for Dell U3415W.
Excellent review, ordering now. Thanks.
$64.99 on Massdrop right now! Thanks for the review!
I own Ergotron LX mount for my Dell 27" and holy hell, this one looks a lot better, this is so amazing! :P Probably buy one! ^^
Likewise!
I think the only benefit to the LX is that it's dual articulated, but at the cost of being less flexible and very stiff.
Thanks for the very comprehensive review. Well done.
Dimitri's voice soothes me

Kiimosabe not creepy at all (!)
Seriously excellent review! I'm sold!!
I have the Ergotech LX arm. It is simply the best.
I need two. Great Review!
You will love them. You can keep them on their own separate clamps or even stack them on one pole.
Wow! That's a nice feature. Way to Ergotech! My whole office could benefit from the Freedom Arm. Thank you for such an awesome product!

Good review, but I would recommend moving the product around a bit more...like actually showing how it functions on the desk...
Impressive. Will be looking at something like this, thx for the suggestion.
I know you said 2 monitors is no problem how about using it for 3 24" monitors?
DAMN GOOD! That is nice. Will you do more VESA mount reviews?
Thanks for the review. How much force does it take to adjust the height of the monitor (mainly lifting it up) ? Are you just pushing gently with a couple of fingers while the spring does the work or lifting the actual weight of the monitor? I hurt my back so it needs to be very very light for me to use it.
Great review guys.
Cool but what if you want to mount if on the back of your desk and have it extend toward? Are you able to drill it in to the desk or even a wall?
looking at how much the base moves when he's bending it down or moving it scares me. Although, I'm sure adding wood underneath and maybe even on top would keep it extremely supportive depending how thin your desk is. I just got it off walmart for $62.
this product looks amazing :o love the reviews :)
Not available in my country >.<
Shipping cost from USA to my country 150$(184$ inc. tax) *a7a*
the HD model up to 30 lbs is now $124.63 with free Prime shipping
Bought one. Love it. The end. Hard to get in Australia at a comparable price to the US though.
selawa111 eBay in the end. Just checked, the seller I bought it through (limitedgoods) only has the iMac ones for sale now...
Shoot I think it could get the Damn Innovative award as well. Very impressive and will probably get once I have a desk that supports it. (My desk is fixed to the wall...)
Tristan Hyams Yeah I have one of the X-stars and the stand holds it up for now. Not really worth the investment for a monitor stand right now to me.
Nostalgic Dimitry.
Really liked your pro-cons part of videos.
Any reasons you stopped doing that?
Terrible for sponsors
Still can't Believe you can't make a mount for my 13 inch Wacom Cintiq
impressive product, great review. Thanks
@Hardware Canuck- thanks for the review. how were you able to adjust the high moving it up and down. if i move the monitor down it goes back up. tightening spring didn't help.
this looks like an excellent option for vertical monitors
I just bought mine and the "small metal piece" from 3:25 is "missing". ***** please do a review of the Kingston hyperx cloud. It looks like a really good headset for only $100

Just bought this!!
If pick the Ergotron MX DESK . Works for the 34" ultrawide too
such a great review, thankyou
What is the best arm from your opinion these days ?
I've been looking into buying one for my 27'' BENQ.

will there be a review for the silverstone monitor arms?
Ok question, at 4:04 to 4:06 when you showed it going a full 90 degrees. It looks like that is each way to the side, but what about up and down? Can the monitor go fully flat facing up or down? I'm specifically wanting to know if it will face directly downwards.

Would love to see a review on a suitable arm for 30" monitors. (Like this Ergotron 45-360-026)
Holy hell i'm buying this.
Great review! :)
Is there a better alternative? Video is 3 years old so thought i'd ask.
Looks like something out of Portal.
I ordered one (the HD). I really hope it'll work well with my 32" monitor. it's an Asus PA329Q that weighs about 27.5 lbs.
any luck?
Yes. it works beautifully. I love it.
Been looking for a monitor arm
I WANT IT
Google it
Could i use this super cool stand for every monitor?
The hole in my desk is a little less 4 inches... Would this work my desk? Using the grommet method?
Hi, I was wondering if the mount comes with a way to adapt the DELL ST series monitors, as the VERSA mount system they have is different. I would so much so love to purchase these Ergotech arms!

Can I put 2 freedom arm on a single pole ?
And put 2 monitors (24") on each others ?
I'm wondering the same.
The video said you could (at the 1:50 mark).
+gary inco damned thx!
Nice! but, will this work fine with a drawing "Cintiq alike" monitor?
(I mean if it stays quiet fine in positon while drawing on it)
I have a shallow desk and want to maximize the distance between the screen and my eyes.
I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but this kind of stuff makes me feel like we're living in the future.
So, this is only in the US right? also , would the PG348Q fit in this arm?
When mounting the arm, do you want the base directly in the center of your desk, or is there some offset to the arm once you have a monitor attached?
I just mounted mine around two weeks ago, first in the middle of the table, then to the side. It really depends on what area you want it to be operational in. For me, I found the arm to be more adjustable when mounted a bit to the side, so its a bit stretched all the time, but its a personal preference.

Just loosen the spring. I know you commented ages ago, but still.

Can you guys do a review of the wall mounted variant of this mount? Is it functionally any different?
SpenserFL It would be the exact same arm with a different mount. Functionality is identical.
+HardwareCanucks oh that's awesome awesome, thanks!
I would choose a wallmount or a stand that does not clamp on your desk bcs Tenpered glass is a total B*tch to clean.
+Lo Studios Not sure why a desk mount has anything to do with keeping tempered glass cleaner or dirty. regardless I got a monitor arm for the glass desk, just sandwiched two pieces of plexiglass between the desktops to help disperse the weight of the system
A Pinecone? sorry i was not clear enough: meant that i would choose a wallmount bcs the glass may break and that would be a bitch to clean up
Lo Studios ahhh ok I see what you mean. But no with the mounting technique I used it does not at all look like the tempered glass is going to break. I have a 14lbs monitor + 11lbs monitor arm on the desk fully extended out and the desk seems to be giving on signs of potentially breaking. The PlexiGlass solution I used works really well
how did you get it to stay low? I can't get mine to go low enough for a comfortable viewing angle.
This vs. Jarvis arm vs. Amazon Basics? They're all the same to my mind.
Would you recommend i buy 3 for a triple display set up ?
I have these Ergotech arms for weeks and still the tension on the springs are too stiff, can't move it up or down.
It has very good design concepts and very beautifully well built, I must say. The price tag is a VERY toxic however, and consumers should not shell out hundreds of dollars for a few pieces of metal.
Long Nguyen it's only $100. You realize how much these things usually are right?
The basic ones are 30 to 100.
The more advanced ones are 100 to 200.
The designer brand ones are 200+.
I bought a 9" 1080p monitor so I can look at my cpu, gpu, mini map and other little things while gaming. Do you think I could use a mount on it?
Google it
And why would u get a freaking 9" monitor. Thats dumb
+Matthew Isaacs yeah it was pretty stupid. It was a pretty cheap 2nd monitor but I just ended up using another 24"
but does it work upside down? would like to know
where do you purchase this item? I could not find it anywhere in Canada?
SO COOL I WANT IT
I have an odd question but can this entire unit be mounted upside down i.e. if clamped onto a bookshelf
Google it
can you PLEASE explain the "low mode".......cant move the arm up and down :) , pls help
Can't adjust the height of the arm moving it , up or dowm and leave it at my taste...pls help :(
Will it support a Predator X34 in terms of weight? No, I obviously won't go vertical/portrait mode with a curved 21:9 display...
I'm currently looking for the same answer
find our how much your monitor weighs, then compare it to the specs... if it's not enough check out the HD (heavy duty) version...
find our how much your monitor weighs, then compare it to the specs... if it's not enough check out the HD (heavy duty) version...
Why do monitor stands cost so much, i just want a mount for my asus monitor
it's way too short - the silver pole needs to be 30 cm for a normal desk to support a range of heights, unless you're short of course )
Will this be fine to use on a glass table?
now will this have a clamp adapter to work with a cintiq?
Can this monitor arm support 34inch ultrawide?
Can it hold a 21:9 ultra wide
what about when you plug power, usb and display port cables? you literally show without considering it.
