    One thing you forgot and a huge complaint of mine for CarPlay. When you get a phone call while driving and using maps, on CarPlay it takes over the entire screen which is annoying and forces you to to interact with the screen to get back to the maps. AA does this sooo much better.

      Absolutely, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both beneficial to drivers who want to connect their smartphone to the touchscreen of the automotive head unit of their car to access phone calls, text messaging, maps (GPS), music, news, podcasts, and the old-fashioned radio.
      Just try to be a safe and responsible driver and not obsess over them too much for it would be dangerous as it doesn’t mitigate distracted driving. The safest possible way to use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is to park your car before you intend to drive, especially with Apple or Google Maps.

      @hypernewlapse android auto does I. Fact full the entire screen now on most newer models. In fact it was always full screen on Mazda. I know cause I have one. Most manufacturers have updated their systems to work well with AA. Regarding the music album that Is annoying that you can't get rid of the split screen I find it dumb they think we constantly need maps in the bubble. We'll see but I've used both AA and Carplay and I find AA to be more intentional regarding being a driver focused system. Carplay is nice though but AA makes better use of the screen.

    I will say that when I say, when I had my Google pixel within android auto in my car, between the actual connection and using Google assistant to send messages, I always had issues. I won't get all of my messages. I will have to reconnect and disconnect my phone 4 to 5 times each time I get in the car etc. etc. I got so exhausting and frustrating and tiring to use android auto. My 13 promax with CarPlay in my car, so seamless and intuitive. Yes, each company copies off each other, but the actual connection to my car system for displaying information, and Sierra, getting all of my messages 100%, can't complain whatsoever with CarPlay!

Using Waze, I could only use my phone to type location (oppose to CarPlay, I can use both the feature through the car and my phone), android auto wouldn’t let me stream the audio via TH-cam video (again, CarPlay allows me to), I couldn’t really control the android auto through my steering wheel buttons.

    The comparison of Apple Maps to google maps: Apple Maps can easily give you the wrong address unless you are specific as to where versus google maps already knowing where you want to go. But after that Apple Maps is more detailed when giving you turn by turn directions compared to google maps.

    The features are nice, but they worthless if they don't come with privacy and security, and both of them plus the car's data-oriented systems have been reported to have serious concerns in those areas. For example, sucking data from your phone to the car's system, storing history on the car, and transmitting the data back to Google, Apple and the car manufacturer for virtually any use, including correlating the data with all of the data they gather through your activity on all devices. Worse, a mechanic could pull your data from the car and give it to their burglar buddy who woukd be able to see your GPS history to plan a robbery when you are not around.
    Such things make these systems unusable, and even desirable to know how to completely deactivate them, and how to wipe all data before taking the car in for service.
    Also, these systems - just like phones - will need security updates to address vulnerabilities. In a phone it is a common practice for Google, Apple and the phone manufacturer to stop bothering with security updates after 5 years of a new model coming out. But cars you might keep for 10-20 years an in rare occasions even up to 50 years or more, even after a model is discontinued. This will eventually becomeman extremely serious concern.
    SUGGESTION: Make a review from the perspective of privacy and security, covering which is better and how to protect ourselves from data leakage, breaches, hacking, etc.

    There is one big advantage for Apple CarPlay though, and that's Apple Maps. Verbal announcements for upcoming stop signs, street lights, red light or speed cameras, and "pass this light and on the next one turn right" spoken content are all missing on Google Maps. Not to mention Apple Maps' amazing 3D block mode.

      @@steadycompsltd.Honestly I prefer that my GPS speak as little as possible while I'm listening to music so its not a big con for me anyway. Unless its a speed trap, traffic, or an unexpected object in the road (which are supported) then dont bother me before my exit. If you wanted it ig its nice to have tho.

    Show that Android auto on RAM uconnect 5 and the 12" screens of 2022-2024- only gives half screen size. Now allele carplay gives full screen google maps and full screen waze maps nav. Some idiot at RAM included the junk tomtom nav, that isn't even a child's graphic. Equal to pong. Again, while Apple can get a full screen nav, Android gives only half screen. Android - junk.

    You didn't test music quality, while I am an Android guy, AA music quality is absolutely horrible. If I don't need maps I now disconnect AA to have good music quality over bluetooth

      Probably depends on your head unit and the bandwidth it accepts over the AA connection. On my Genesis I don't hear any difference...and I'm pretty picky. Often has to do with settings to control your audio volume levels in the settings on the infotainment system

    • @ibanez1769
      @ibanez1769 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Red Hagar tried multiple head units, stock and aftermarket, whether wireless or USB always sounds the same with AA running, tried messing with every singlw setting bass completely disappears, treble and mid go up, even tried different EQs. Sounds great on BT without AA running but as soon as it overrides everything and goes right back to shit. Apple Car play doesn't do it, it sounds the way its supposed to, but Im and Android guy. I found out a bunch of others online that have the same problem.

    iPhone is superior! Apple Maps ( in Canada at least ) is also much better. Apple Maps does traffic much faster and better. Google maps shows red constantly in places that there is little to no traffic currently there. Waze is not bad, but would be my third choice.
