This song will forever remind me of the summer my brothers girlfriend was going away to college. She told him she wanted to take a break from him, so she could have fun. As she was driving away he handed her this song on tape, and told her he’d be waiting for her. 30 years later and their married with 3 kids, who are now in college.

Masterful songwriter, singer, piano and guitar. Saw him a few years ago and his voice has only gotten better.
Richard Marx wrote this song on tour for his first wife Cynthia, who was his gf then... so it was very sincere. It became his biggest hit.
And he never meant for it to be recorded. He didn't want to at first.
She was in road house. I love Richard. Seen him in Shreveport. I know a lot about that dude 👍

1st time I heard this song i recorded it and played it over and over until I memorized the entire song all night so I could sing it to a girl I liked in school . Back in my youth I could sing pretty good . When I saw her in school in the next morning in the hall way I just went up to her and started singing . Every one started laughing at me which I didn't care . But when I was done I got that kiss on the cheek that made me walk on cloud 9 all day long I was a new man !

Loved his first 3 albums. I loved alot of the non-singles more than those released as singles.
He had 7 top 5 hits in the late 80s(3 #1's) and 7 top 20 songs in the 90s,

I saw him live in 1990. He was the warm-up act for Tina Turner. I never ever heard a bass-sound live that strong as in the beginning of this song. The whole arena was vibrating 😀
Endless Summer Nights was my favourite. His Ex Cynthia Rhodes was also a very talented Actor/Singer/Dance starring in movies such as Flashdance (Jennifer Beal), Dirty Dancing (Patrick Swayze), Staying Alive (John Travolta), Sci-Fi thriller Runaway along side Tom Selleck (Magnum PI) and Gene Simmons (from the band KISS) and appearing in Toto's music video "Rosanna". Don't Mean Nothing, Now and Forever, Endless Summer Nights, and the list goes on. You should jump down the rabbit hole of his music. Fun Fact: He was a jingle writer for commercials before he was known, and his wife at the time was the blonde pregnant dancer in Dirty Dancing.
Hold On To The Nights is another great song. He's a great songwriter.

Just watched Don’t Mean Nothing so had to check out the rest of your Richard Marx’s videos! He also wrote songs for other artists like Celine Dion, Kenny Rogers, Daughtry, Barbara Streisand, Chicago, Vince Gill, Micheal Bolton, and these are a few of who he wrote for he also help co write Luther Vandross 2004 Grammy win for Dance With My Father! A great singer and prolific song writer. Richard Marx lives in the Chicago area and has written many, many great hits for himself and others. He is such a musical talent.
So many memories. This song came out when I was going through a breakup. He moved back to Indiana to be closer to his son but I wasn't going to uproot my kids to follow him. Fast forward, I started dating again and this guy wants me to listen to a song he's been learning on piano. He starts playing Right Here Waiting. I almost died.
