Depends on attractive hot she is, if she's good enough looking a prenup might do the trick. There's nothing wrong with a trophy wife if you can afford one and there are social advantages to having an attractive wife that might even come in useful down the line. Just make sure the paperwork is air tight and you keep what you make in the relationship without taking on the debts she has incurred.

I needed this pep talk. I’m currently in this situation. Paralyzed by bills, anxiety at an all time high, however, I’ve made the decision to change my life. I’m only 40k in debt.

And the sad part is she may be a nice girlfriend and have good intentions. If you're with someone 4 years there has to be some good qualities to her. I just think she picked a degree of study that just won't cut the mustard. Debt is not only frustrating it stems from a lack of control, and can be embarrassing and shameful...male or female. Part of me feels bad for her as well as him, because it sounds like he really likes this woman, but she has to show some responsibility now to save the relationship. It's a very bad situation for him.

I just divorced my wife of 7 years for a similar situation. She would not work, and when she did it was odd/part time jobs. She was incredibly lazy and just sat at home all day eating and being depressed. Looks fade, trust me on that. What I was left with was an obese, depressed, and lazy wife who just wouldn’t snap out of it.
$500 spousal support was our agreement for one year. That money isn’t much, and I will tell you I have so much more money in my bank account with her out of the picture. Most importantly, I’m HAPPY for the first time in 8 years.

I've been where she is. My boyfriend of a few years did say these things to me and when I had to start over and get an entry level job, his support was wonderful. Took me a out 2 years to pay off my debt while taking over my financial responsibilities. We're still together and happy.

Thank you for adding some positivity to the comments. I don't agree with everyone saying he should leave, but I was this man who not only dated, but married someone in the same struggle as this woman. Unfortunately, my situation didn't have the happy ending. However, I hope your situation strengthened the bond between you and your boyfriend and that you have a long future together.
@@TheRedExpedition What happened in your situation, did you help pay off her debts and end up divorced? Sorry you went through whatever you did. Sometimes people go through hard times and need support from their significant other, but they need to be contributing and working toward a plan to get out of debt. There's always exceptions to the rule but this callers gf doesn't sound responsible.

As a boy mom, I feel it's my job to protect my boys from as much pain as possible ( boys or girls). If I were your mom, I would tell you that this relationship could cause aLOT of pain for you in the future. Financial and emotional.
It may be hard now to let her go, but it will be less painful in the long run than it would be to pay her to leave via a costly divorce. I wish the best for this young man.

McDonald's and Burger King have weekly open interviews. Wal-Mart and Target love hiring people with college degrees. She can be a Graphic Designer or even help her get into Design Engineering ( learning some type of CAD), if he is an engineer that shouldn't be hard. I went to college for design engineering and moved over to renewable engineering with a double major.
