This is a great example of how one's life can turn 180°. The guy had no debt, making a regular salary, and decided to get a house probably because he felt ashamed he didn't have one or "needed" one. People, please dont let your ego lead you to unwise decisions. Partners, be supportive. If it is going to take 3 more years of saving to move to a new house, so be it. Rather that than something goes wrong and now you are looking at 10 years of suffering just to get back to where you were.

Buying a house will never be affordable for average people anymore. With insane rates and the way prices are going up 20k a year, house prices will go up faster than anybody can save unless they make 180k+ a year

All they can say is no. Did you ever see that guy who has a rejection therapy TH-cam channel? He had a traumatic childhood experience and was afraid of rejection his whole life so he did 100 days challenge of asking people for ridiculous things hoping for a no. He videoed it all. He got so many people saying yes it was fascinating. He went viral when he asked a Kristy Kreme employee for donuts shaped like the Olympic rings and she did it. So I did the challenge. I asked for absurd things and didn’t get any no. It was ludicrous. I was hoping to cure my rejection complex but nobody said no. But it restored my faith in humanity.

This kind of happened to my husband. I was due with a baby. Hubby’s work was so toxic (like chairs being thrown across the board room toxic). He was desperate to get out. I did all I could to help him look for jobs (did all his job apps and edited resume for key word searches, helped him prep for interviews, cheered him on, etc) but I felt helpless.
But man, it was rough. It was so stressful. He couldn’t quit as sole bread winner and we needed the health insurance for baby’s birth. Thankfully he got a new job just before baby came. So he took a little break between jobs for her arrival and started at a new company, which was night and day different. Thankfully we didn’t have a house to sell or move to make. But I understand the stress a bad job can cause. I wouldn’t wish a toxic work environment on anyway. It’s horrible.

Because they make money on every loan they approve. Further they just got a fish to do all the work for a property that they knew they were going to repo and they sell the mortgage to another lender and walk away more money. I know it's weird and doesn't seem to make any sense. To put it plainly the mortgage companies are playing a dangerous game of "physics" while the borrowers are playing simple math. What happens is a high rate of repossession That destabilizes the entire economy. Happen in the 1920's, 1980's and most recently the 2000's. We're heading back to that place again! Listening to these folks makes me think I'm a financial genius. I just got to say when that happens we're in serious trouble folks.

I knew a woman who demanded our boss to let her take Friday off so she can take another job. (No pay rise) she was a horrible worker. All she did was complain. Complaining about the job, her colleagues, her husband, her parents, her children etc. any way in a fit of rage she resigned. She told her husband and her husband was like - we cannot afford it, and she begged in an entitled way to withdraw her resignation and my boss said ‘oh sorry I’ve sent the paperwork to HR’ any way she didn’t take it well and kept complaining to my bosses boss all the way up to the CEO. This was a low level job at a workplace of over a thousand workers and he had no idea who it was. She even tried to get the unions involved even though she wasn’t a member. The entitlement was staggering and embarrassing. Had she fell on her sword with humility maybe she may have got her job back or at least a reference but she just kept blowing up. The things she used to say about her husband and kids was so horrible. Even her own admission, he was a good father and hard worker and constantly trying to improve their financial situation but any slight and she deemed it abusive. Such as going on vacation and letting her go by herself shopping while he hung out with the kids. Sorry for the long post but it just reminded me of this with the stories in the post

They always had a roof over their heads, everyone was healthy. He died at 94yo after his PhD daughter hired an ambulance to take him back to his home state to see his ancestral land one last time.
