If you’re a 23 year old with little to no connections, don’t expect to get paid any commissions any time soon. That’s why most commercial brokerages pay out at least a small salary for junior staff and then shift to commission-heavy structure once you’re more senior and can hold your own. Pt make average starting off 70k so I wouldn’t say that’s bad and that’s with a masters or DPT. I feel like that’s good as a start off but to go back to school for nursing you would have to go through Med school and even then you won’t make a desired wage right away have you thought that through?

Sounds like they are trying to get married, get degrees, get jobs & pay the loans all at once, while living with parents and I can see it being an overwhelming task, especially at that age. These stories make me so grateful for my wife. I married her when she was 20 (I was 24). When we were dating she worked and went to school, had saved up 10K all on her own (and zero debt). 1 yr later we got married, and after another year we had a child. Now she stays home with our baby boy while I take care of the finances. There is hope out there, men!

@Johnny Five If everyone took that approach, almost no one would be getting married and/or seriously dating. Also, taking that analytical approach makes it seem that you’re applying for a job and not trying to be in a romantic relationship with someone. Also, most people aren’t going to be comfortable sharing intricate and confident details about their lives on the first few dates. That’s ridiculous. Again, you’re not applying for a job and there’s no need to put your whole resume at the beginning of a relationship.

Finances are a big part of any serious relationship. And marriage is just as much of a business transaction as it is romantic. I’m not sure about a third date but the more transparent people are the better equipped each is to make a decision to pursue further.

@Johnny Five That I almost universally agree with. I say almost because age is also an important determining factor. I have seen high school couples be together in a relationship for years and when they graduated, they were still together but they weren't talking about getting married or having a more serious aspect to it, especially not at that age. Other than that, I agree that honesty and having everything at the table is the best way to go about it, when it is appropriate.
