      Look for something like an executive package on air lift suspension, I know on ecs tuning for my mini cooper, it’s 5k but the air ride has sensors that auto level the car so when you hit a bump it will adjust accordingly and smooth it out significantly, that’s what your after is an air ride that has auto leveling

    Intresting.
    Personally i wonder why not all race cars runs air suspension if it's faster on the track.
    I run coilovers on all my cars and they are not extremely bumpy. I would say that if they are extremely bumpy they are not set up correctly.

      Most people don't know how to setup suspension or don't take the time to do it properly you can't make measurements until the car is settled on flat ground which can be involved depending on the car and how it was raised and lowered

    I am seriously considering purchasing a quality air bag suspension kit for my 2017 Mini Cooper f56 hardtop. My only hesitation is that in some areas, we have really rough roads with many potholes, and I'm currently having a very rough ride over them. This is despite having a set of quality, brand-name coilovers on my car. My question is, would the air suspension hold up to the very rough roads for a daily driver?

I want air suspension for my suv, but I want to make it in most simple way, I dont want compressor, wires and some hoses there, is possible to have air bags that can be filled/compresed with air only from outside compresor in similar way like tires for example? Just add hose and add/reduce air/ adjust ride height few times a week for my needs. Thanks for answer.

  • @M3PQuicksilver

    Opinions don’t matter when it comes to suspension facts do. Air ride is not meant for sports cars at all. Specially if you are going to track your car. Spring response compared to air bags are not the same. Springs respond to compression much faster compared to a air bags. You will never see any race car run on air bags. Bags are meant for cruisers, low rides or someone that wants to have the adjustability of the ride hight. As far as pricing goes actually Coilovers can be more expensive depending on what company you choose to go with. Also depends on the materials used to create a Coilover. Like JRZs, Penske or Motons can cost over $15,000- $30,000 depending on the level of motor sport. Even some street setups can run over $10,000 for a proper set. If you run air bags on a proper sports car, you are running the suspension setup and handling or the car.

    • @M3PQuicksilver
      @M3PQuicksilver ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@f3irty278 Their is no manufacturer that has ever ran air bags on street driven sports cars. Cars like Lincoln, Lexus and other manufacturers run air bags on SUV or family sedans. Air Bags do not have the capability to respond or react to bumps like a spring loaded suspension does. That was my point and I am talking about street and race cars. People running air bags on there cars I don’t care about that, but to make comparisons and state opinions in regards coilovers and air bags that are not true and I have been in motorsports, built cars for over 20 years so I do know a lot regarding suspension.

    Only issue I have was I wish I bought the smaller 1/4" air lines instead of the 3/8" just because airing up feels a bit jarring at first, its not as smooth or fluent as it should be. But that's just a minor complaint

    Great video. I had coilovers on my last car.. I loved the handling I got from it and spent at least 4 days in the garage a month changing the height for one reason or another so I kind of vowed to go air on my next car. I really do not want my car on the ground I just want a modest drop.. I also don't care about the quickness of rising and lowering and was wondering can these air suspensions be installed without multiple compressors and large tanks? I basically wanted to replicate the mercedes airmatic system... which I think is just aribags with a tiny pump under the hood (correct me if im wrong).

      Thanks my plan is just to replicate the oem Mercedes oem airmatic… possibly even placing the pump in the engine bay. Do I even need a tank or can the bags just hold the air the whole time unless I make minor adjustments? What is the major gain of all the pumps and large tanks is it only for speed purposes of releasing and refilling air?

      ItsKev777 like he said they are great if you get good ones but it diminishes your driving experience if they are set too low.
      Any person who has driven low knows the cons. Pulling in drive ways or clearing speed bumps at angles. Damaging your underbody or front lip. Scraping your exhaust.
      Some shrug that kind of thing off but why subject yourself to driving like that when there are alternatives? Like another commentor said, go with airlift suspension if you're daily driving and want to still enjoy the occasional spirited driving.
      You drive low on familiar streets, ride stock height on trips, lift higher than stock to clear any steep incline and slam lower than any static vehicle out there when stationary.
