    It's not always about volume..it's also about velocity of the air.

      Considering that the banks system is $100 more expensive and doesn’t even show as much effort towards the product

    If you cut that plastic behind the grill, don't you end up with water getting into your filter box? I was also told if you take your truck off road to not switch the OEM air filter, has anyone else been told this?

      Most aftermarket filters have rubber tips so any moisture will bounce off and not get sucked in. A sleeve helps as well…

    Geeeeeeeeez, I literally just installed the banks system on my 06 6.0 f350 Powerstroke, now i feel like shit. lol. Took me about 40 mins or so. I should have listened to the service agent at Xtreme Diesel, he told me to go with the S&B unit, but didn't mention details on why, I went with Banks because of their engineering experience. I also have the MBRP 3.5'' turbo down pipe to a 4'' with a muffler, SCT X3 Can tunes and custom stuff. Hope the banks unit does what its intended to do, at that point i'm happy. When i look through my grille I am able to see the front of the banks oval filter, this is due to us removing that fiber glass piece to achieve the ram air intake dynamic. We had this piece removed with the stock air filter unit as well. Most importantly I haven't noticed any major differences in performance but the whistle is noticeable louder. I run tunes, so that's where you get your major performance gains from so the air filter systems gains aren't as noticeable in my opinion, im at 482bhp 700 plus torque. Sorry for the long story. Thank you for taking time out to post videos, I watch them all the time, nice and simple very informative. Good stuff 6.0 Doctor.

    • @timsmothers8740
      @timsmothers8740 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went with a BD Diesel Intercooler because it was on sale, mishimoto not much different but has the better warranty if you plan on crashing and taking out the Cac and I, went with sinister Diesel pipes and boots clamps and also the intake elbow and with the BD Intercooler they include the cold side pipe to get rid of the plastic stock one and also the boots and clamps. Hope that helps if you haven't already upgraded. Also I, did go with the mishimoto radiator, but bullet proof Diesel sells a comparable one for less.

    Nice video Josh! How is the S&B air box or factory box get air if the front is blocked off by the grille? Also, I noticed that the truck with the banks air box is missing the cooling fan inner shroud. Is the inner shroud even needed? I ask because my truck came with no inner shroud when I purchased it last week. Thanks

    I know it's hard to diagnose over a keyboard, but I have a 06 f250 194k miles.... The truck is completely stock expect, egr delete, 5inch exhaust, small 60hp tune, running cat elc coolant. Truck still has stock head bolts, my Delta's sometimes will reach 25 plus when towing. Ect 198-200,eot will be 220 plus on a hot day. Right now the Degas bottle isn't puking but has before.. I do have a black oily film in my Degas bottle(looks like soot kinda) and I know my oil cooler needs to be replaced because my Delta's are higher then normal...im really hoping it's not my heads and just a clogged oil cooler. My question to u will a clogged oil cooler cause pressure in the coolant system even once the egr has been deleted?I couldn't really find a answer on the forms... Also I plan on doing the heads myself. Do u recommend replacing the lifters and push rods? I know it's more work but I don't mind pulling the engine and spending the extra time to replace them.. How common is lifter failure after studs?

    • @powerstrokecustomsllc1942
      @powerstrokecustomsllc1942  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aldo Bustamante I would replace oil cooler. Yes oil cooler will make it puck coolant. And I would replace heads and replace push rods. Lifter failure is more common on bullet proof jobs that take .010 off heads and done use updated pushrods.

    • @bustamantealdo
      @bustamantealdo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@powerstrokecustomsllc1942 thanks for the info 😀 do you recommend just replacing the oil cooler first see how it does as far as the oily film and pressure in my Degas system? Or is it a waste and go ahead and tear heads off?

    • @powerstrokecustomsllc1942
      @powerstrokecustomsllc1942  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aldo Bustamante it’s never a waste to do the job right the first time and be done with it. If I have a 6.0 that potentially has blown head gaskets and oil cooler, I’m putting new heads on with studs and oil cooler. And coolant filter kit on top.

This could potentially destroy a turbo, I do a lot of forest road driving and i suspect this is the reason my stock turbo may be failing. I AM NOT HAPPY with my Banks intake at all. And it cost me almost 380 bucks!
