Another great video, Alex. One area I REALLY disagree with you, however, is your desire to see the 15 inch screen get added to all F150 upper trims at refresh. I have a 2021 Lariat 502a Powerboost and I find the current 12 inch wide-screen set up with physical controls below to be outstanding. I do not want to see them give up those hard buttons in favor of a slightly larger screen, as in the upper trims of the Lightning.
I have to say the ZR2 is a Tremor competitor, not a Raptor level truck at all. Here is why; 1-Standard width truck. No added stability. 2- It has 33" tires which are standard width. 3-Not a special High Output motor. 4-It has 18" wheels. Off roaders prefer 17's. 5-No Baja Mode or special off road race settings. 6-Does not have extended length A-arms for extreme travel front suspension. 7-Doesn't have a special frame or truly bespoke panels. So it is essentially like a Rebel or a TRD-Pro with a front E-locker. I think you may find that the since the Tremors front Torsen works in 4HI and it is equipped with Trail Turn Assist it will literally run circles around the ZR2 on tight trails.
I agree, it's pretty obvious looking at it that the ZR2 isn't trying to be what a Raptor/TRX is. I actually think GM's real Raptor/TRX competitor is the Hummer EV, it's got a more bonkers price tag but also boasts more bonkers performance, and it definitely feels like they tried to push that platform and packaging to the absolute extreme which is what I feel like Ford and Rams engineers did on the Raptor/TRX models respectively.
I put in an order for a bronco raptor but I will say my dad's 2017 F150 raptor is one of my favorite vehicles of all time. Hoping the Bronco can meet up to my high expectations.
Your F150 vs Bronco assessment is correct except for those who need greater towing capacity 8200 vs 4500. So for many of us (me) the 4500 limit is way too low... in fact I almost didn't buy my 2018 F150 Raptor due to its low towing capability (been dealing with it, but certainly not ideal). So yeah, if not for towing capabilities I would for sure by the Bronco Raptor for its pure FUN factor (as you pointed out).
the 37" tires don't just raise increase ground clearance. The physics of a larger diameter tire make climbing obstacles easier vs. a smaller diameter tire, so a Raptor with 37's will have an easier time covering any obstacle than a 35" tire. The larger diameter makes contact with the obstacle sooner and spreads the effort required to climb the obstacle over a longer distance. Also the larger diameter tire has a larger contact patch than a smaller diameter tire, the practical result of this is larger tires don't need as aggressive tread patterns as smaller tires for the same traction. Realistically you could put more fuel efficient tires on a Raptor with 37" wheels can have the same mount of traction as a truck with 35's. FYI: throttle house was able to average 21 mpg in regular driving with a Raptor with 37's.
I rather take a taxi. I was surprised to see so many American car brands (Buick, Dodge, Chevrolet, Ford and GMC) was all above industrial average according to JD Powder dependability list. Hopefully the R has the 6.8L supercharged V8 that they were prototyping and not a supercharged 5.2 like the gt500. No doubt the raptor is awesome but after seeing the demonstration of the pro power I would imagine people who use power tools for a living would not want to wait for a saw to spin up that long before using it. I think it would be okay for an average person who would only use it a few times a year.
Raptor is a Truck that can tow stuff, great on road (dry or slippery) , good carrying capacity and top notch off road. Trust me, I just got one.. On a different note, I just found out that the navigation that came on the 21 Raptor is only active for 3 years., however wireless CarPlay works very well and I rarely use the one that came with the car..
I pay for for the GPS in the truck it works better. Example, on a trip I was using both; the GPS on my truck suddenly had me exit off I-95 while headed south, take a state road for perhaps 10 miles and get back on. When I got back on I pulled on just ahead of a slow moving wide trailer that was blocking both lanes doing about 40 mph. Google maps did not even register the slow down. I have found this to be case in other situations, I use the option to use navigation from the truck vs. CarPlay on long trips.

I don’t think anything will stop the massive sales of large vehicles and crossovers. Of course, that’s what happened during the recession, but I can’t imagine that happening today for some reason.
There really is only one major thing wrong with a Raptor. You can’t really get them. Ford can’t build them fast enough and dealers that get them want $10-50K over sticker. May those dealers be sent to the 7th level of hell for their shenanigans.
They're probably sending them down here to Texas. I see them all day. I want one, but realistically that shit is too big for the driveway and it won't fit in our garage. It's also just too ridiculous (to me) to daily.
Great but the Lightning shows how superior it is in every category, expect offloading Such as acceleration or electrical outlet capacity for example. So, how about a Lightning/Raptor with an REx? For boys who want a better toy?
Hmmm 13 mpg at $6.50 a gal x 36 gal= $234 but you have a range of 432 miles. If gas was $3.25 a gal like on Jan 20, 2021 it would have cost you $117 to fill up. Very interesting... Nice truck.
There just comes a point to where why need all that hp and torque if its just a daily driver. If your going to be racing you should be at a race track. Why not get a truck with 1000 horses. It really is stupid.
Can you measure the car play screen size? I’ve got a theory ford made it intentionally crap so it’s not bigger than on the 15 inch screen. The rice burner isn’t a deal breaker but the downgraded CarPlay is
@@joelk9182 it's not the size that bothers me, it's the wasted space around it. Car play looks best in full screen regardless of size. Just trying to figure out why Ford would make it look that bad on purpose
Alex, you like having unique criteria when evaluating vehicles - trunk comfort index, mother-in-law seating, gallon of milk in the compartment between the front seats, a 10" tablet in the glove box. How about adding a new one - a front-end loader bucket of gravel in the bed? That's my criteria for a truck - can it take a full payload of gravel from a front-end loader? It's a dynamic visual process that should look good on video. My 1977 F-250 could take a 1 and 1/2 tons without a problem. Alternately, you could try what my truck also carried - 60 sheets of 4'x8' half-inch sheet rock. That's what a pickup truck is for - to pickup things and carry them.
Everything! Gladiator is a 1/4 ton convertible on an overcooked spaghetti frame over low capacity cheap Dana axles with short travel suspension, little ground clearance and Chuck wagon steering, pushed by a minivan motor.

@@twany442 Whatever helps you sleep at night, but if they weren't losing massive share of the market, they wouldn't be rushing to make a Raptor R
@@InvestBetter.
If they were that damn worried, then they would have released it first.
You fanboys just can't take it. Who's had the number one selling vehicle for 42 years and the number one selling truck for 46 years and counting? Not Ram. Talk to me then. Bye Girl!
@@twany442 If they had the engine to mess with a TRX, they would've, fan girl
@@InvestBetter. You got about 6-8 months of enjoyment left as a Slowpar fan boi until the Raptor R drops so definitely enjoy the little time you've left. We know you're still butthurt about the GT500 so go ahead & let it all out while you can.
I'd buy one if I could get it at MSRP 😀
Good luck with that. I saw a 2018 with 21,000 miles on it for $70,000. 10k more than a friend of mine bought his for new.
There are dealers out there who will order one for you @ MSRP. I received my 2022 Raptor VIN a couple of weeks ago and the build date is scheduled soon…….and my dealer sold it to me for MSRP. Good luck if you decide to get one.
With gas prices hitting new and new records every day, I don't see this selling well.
They will sell every one they build.
I don’t think anything will stop the massive sales of large vehicles and crossovers. Of course, that’s what happened during the recession, but I can’t imagine that happening today for some reason.
Nah There are plenty of voters that brought us high gas prices with hedge fund money and jets to get to Switzerland when the SHTF.
@@inomad I highly doubt that
Gas price will reduce yearly mileage and as a result resale price for those huge engine trucks!
They should include an OBD scan tool in the display. Now that, would be useful.
Master mechanic here. I don't, in fact, want the shitty 5.4 that's in the new Raptor. I'll take the 2012 model with the 6.2 ANY day.
Wow I want one
Why does Ford bother having a center console shifter?
Buy a first-gen raptor to do real offroad. I've done such hardcore mods that even guys with new raptors drool.
I prefer Bronco Raptor.
There really is only one major thing wrong with a Raptor. You can’t really get them. Ford can’t build them fast enough and dealers that get them want $10-50K over sticker. May those dealers be sent to the 7th level of hell for their shenanigans.
Down to the 7th, down......
They're probably sending them down here to Texas. I see them all day. I want one, but realistically that shit is too big for the driveway and it won't fit in our garage. It's also just too ridiculous (to me) to daily.
Wow could do so much modifications customized trailer
Great but the Lightning shows how superior it is in every category, expect offloading Such as acceleration or electrical outlet capacity for example.
So, how about a Lightning/Raptor with an REx? For boys who want a better toy?
No
Hmmm 13 mpg at $6.50 a gal x 36 gal= $234 but you have a range of 432 miles. If gas was $3.25 a gal like on Jan 20, 2021 it would have cost you $117 to fill up. Very interesting... Nice truck.
great "if my aunt had balls" analogy....
This. I'll pass.
sorry of confusing you
my TRX got 8.5 mpg lol
$2.25/gallon on Jan 20,2021...
There just comes a point to where why need all that hp and torque if its just a daily driver. If your going to be racing you should be at a race track. Why not get a truck with 1000 horses. It really is stupid.
With gas at $5 a gallon. By 2025 it WILL be $7 a gallon. I'll have to pass on this truck.
This is about the MPG's you're going to do with a full size offroad truck if you need one.
What’s the Colour code?? Thanks 😊
Reliable!?
The Truck We All Secretly Know $25k on top of MSRP🤫🤫🤫
Can you measure the car play screen size? I’ve got a theory ford made it intentionally crap so it’s not bigger than on the 15 inch screen. The rice burner isn’t a deal breaker but the downgraded CarPlay is
As an owner I'll tell you that it's as big as you'll want an infotainment to be. I wouldn't want a bigger screen especially if they do vertical!
@@joelk9182 it's not the size that bothers me, it's the wasted space around it. Car play looks best in full screen regardless of size. Just trying to figure out why Ford would make it look that bad on purpose
I prefer my raptor screen vs what i have on my lightning ev screen
With gas going up to $6. I can only sit here and dream of owning this car.
What a disappointment to do not have a blue cruse on this :( is it true? Why? (12:51)
I’ll get one when they add powerboost. Same power numbers for gen 3 is a mistake. V8 is gonna be over 100k.
Wanted until gas prices went through the roof! Almost $5 gas in most of the country, I'm thinking tesla now!
Martin Sylvester Huggins???
ridiculous truck, and I want one badly
I love your channel. I HATE pickup trucks (as personal vehicles).
With these gas prices? What are you nuts? ….
Why not compare it to the Gladiator? What am I missing?
Gladiator is mid sized.
Everything! Gladiator is a 1/4 ton convertible on an overcooked spaghetti frame over low capacity cheap Dana axles with short travel suspension, little ground clearance and Chuck wagon steering, pushed by a minivan motor.
The Gladiator is in the same class as a Tacoma or other midsize truck
Much better👍 Alex on autos not his not so Alex guy🤬
No!!! i dont secretly want a raptor, already have something better 😂
