I found your channel through Cam Mitchell 🙌🏼 Also in regard to meeting people on the Gold Coast, it is challenging… There is a Gym called CHANGE (it was founded by Kane and Pia Muehlenbeck) and a lot of entrepreneurial people go there. They have a lot of events and yoga classes where people can connect and network.

    Dubai pros & cons
+easy to meet people & make friends
+business friendly, very fast paced & futuristic
    +amazing lounges, cafes, restaurants
+really good healthcare services, no months waiting lists etc. easy to get an appointment, no need for referrals if you want to see a specialist etc.
-apartments almost all of them have moist, mold issues and the AC is very bad for your health by the time you leave Dubai you’ll end up with lung issues
-air pollution, also bad for your health and causes long term damage
    -lack of nature
    -public transport should be better
-besides marina, not very walkable city
-poor food quality in all supermarkets and prices are high
    Australia pros &cons
    +weather
    +quality of food
    +people are friendly/laid-back
+apartments are modern & good quality
    -isolated
-if you’re European and have family in Europe timezone is tricky

I was born and grew up in Sydney, Australia. In my professional career I traveled widely and lived for extended periods in several countries. My business developed rapidly in the UK and I found that I had the opposite problem of time zones to you as I moved to the UK and had business and family/friends in Sydney. Every country I lived in had its advantages and disadvantages. Overall, I found in most countries that there was usually a way to make friends and do business and with the right attitude life could be good. Coming from Australia though you miss many intangibles when you are away. The clear skies, no crowding, a sense of fairness and ease of living. I think that its great that you are traveling with an open mind and enthusiasm. I enjoy your videos.

I'm Canadian. Lived in Dubai and Australia. I lived in Sydney, Goldcoast and Melbourne. Dubai is more international and all business. Australians are more clique-ish and insular typically. Both places are expensive in terms of cost of living, real estate is much cheaper in Dubai. Australia is much slower paced. Even Sydney and Melbourne is slower than what I'm used to in Toronto. The weather and nature is best in Australia hands down. But winters are super boring there. I loved Australia, mainly because of the weather. But it's just too far to travel to frequently. Personally, for quick getaways now, I travel to Miami, Vegas and Tulum, Mexico for nice weather when I need to escape the harsh winters. But still love going to Australia every 4,5 years.

Miami, Florida is much like Goldcoast.
I loved that absolutely honest and point by point comparison of : Dubai and Goldcoast.
Dubai is Loud. As in Extravagant in every sense of the Word.
Goldcoast is well, as you said, Natural and Easygoing.
Like you two, we made our first Goldcoast visit In August 2017, liked climate and pollution free ecology and immediately ventured to Book an Off-The-Plan Apartment at Broadbeach.
In August 2022, we are coming to Goldcoast to take possession of that Apartment that would be like our Investment In Australia but also be a Holiday home and may be future Overseas place to move to. 😀

100% agree with you about the prices of cars. I even sent my car over from the UK when I emigrated over here and made a massive profit on it. Australia certainly isn't cheap to live here anymore. I've noticed a massive difference in the 15 years I've been here.

  • @ymarmash
    @ymarmash 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Well... Dubai is good if you are consultant - you need to be okay living indoors most of your time. There are plenty of activities but they mostly need to be done at night. Most people I know also tend to go to the same 5-10 spots. Another aspect worth mentioning is that it feels temporary. Yes, you could make friends easily, but you lose them easily also because they tend to be there on a temporary basis. It's always a positive memory looking back because that's how humans are wired, but my hunch is that that allure of Dubai diminishes rather quickly and your second visit there won't be as interesting.
I've lived in a number of places around the world (including the UK, china, Germany, Jordan, Turkey, Lesotho, visited the UAE many times) and I'm currently in California, and I must say the Netherlands is the best thus far. I'd love to try Norway and Denmark at some point.
    Cheers

Living a high quality of life in Australia and travel to more exciting place.. It is more subtle compare to Europe, Dubai and such. Each places is different and you will adjust. But once you settle it is hard to beat. It is safe and if you are to have a family (children) Australia is one of the best country to be. So it depends on the stage in your life and what you are looking for. Go try them and find out. All the best : )

You'll be getting to 40C+ on the Gold Coast and Brisbane in Summer :). It's not much different to Dubai except the level of humidity maybe. Melbourne and Sydney get over 40C as well, as does Perth. High 30's C is the norm, but unlike the desert climates it doesn't always cool down in the evening and can be really hot and humid overnight.

Bit too early to compare at this stage as you guys only lived in Gold Coast which is a small city. Come down to Sydney, it will feel more like Dubai but without the extreme hot weather, it is an international city with a bigger population so has amazing endless restaurants to try, many activities, and networking. To chill out from the hectic fast pace life and traffic jams you have the world famous harbour and the beaches, and also the wildlife and the many national parks within the city and surrounds such as the world heritage listed Blue Mountains. Enjoy a day trip short drive north or south are the beautiful coastal cities of Newcastle, Central Coast and Wollongong. Sydney doesn't snow, but only a few hrs drive from Sydney is the Snowy Mountains and ski resorts with abundant snow, how crazy is that! Australia is such a big place with different contrasts, in the centre is Alice Springs and tourist spot Ayres rock which is very hot all year round and desert like Dubai, and up north we have smaller cities such as Cairns, one can dive in the famous Great Barrier Reef, the weather there is tropical warm all year around. And down south we have cities which gets snow in winter.

I think I can detect a subtle change in you two... You're starting to detox your skin, lungs, and bodies and you're learning to chill like the whales and dolphins in that sparkling, cleaner environment Down Under.
Why would you EVER want to leave that dream location?
As for meeting people, with your experience Matt, why don't you volunteer to do a shift as a lifesaver, get to share experiences with the locals, and do a vlog about it?

You completely missed the issue of taxes. Australia is essentially the most taxed country on earth. If you are a low income earner then Aus is far better, but if you have a high net worth it is far better to base yourself in Dubai and then visit Australia.

An interesting and thoughtful clip. Much depends on what you want out of life, and that changes over the years. Your current main attention seems to be the continued development of a thriving business. That's possible in many places, but to do it at an elite level is easier in places like the USA and Dubai as they are optimised for high level success.
Australia and New Zealand are not; they are more optimised for people in general to have a moderate, good and satisfying life. The example you give of being able to get good quality food at virtually any grocery store is part of that. If you plan to have a family at some stage, however, they might be better choices. After a family has grown up, the preferred options can change again.
The time difference issue is quite real, although that might change as your UK business grows and becomes less in need of close management and direction. If your business was oriented more to the Indo-Pacific, the reverse might be true; although I suspect that is not what you anticipate. Nevertheless, Oz and NZ are great places to visit regularly, and that might become their chief attraction for you.
This is a bit out of left field; but I'd be cautious about expecting the globalised world we've experienced for several decades to persist. There's a lot of signs of it breaking back into blocs and recreating an international scene more like the multi-polar world of the late 19th and early 20th century. That means business and particularly marketing may become more feasible in places which have their own large internal consumer base. The USA seems to be heading back to that, and might swing your choices more in that direction, or somewhere nearby like the Bahamas.

13:13 it better be Miami, Florida!! If not, then it's California, not a fan of their taxes there and to set up a business costs a lot more. Florida is perfect for non-citizen business set up, I've done that, things going great. I started watching you guys because of your Dubai company set up, because that is my next step.

  • @just_alexk
    @just_alexk ปีที่แล้ว

You’ll definitely be moving to LA if you move to USA. However, I’d recommend San Diego. I could definitely also see you moving to NYC/Chicago (because there’s all the big tall nice buildings like Dubai which you loved) but it looks like you love good weather.
Based on your comments (likes/dislikes), it’s a no-brainer that you’ll be moving to California (LA in particular 🙈).
If you end up moving to LA, be sure to check out all the coastal beach towns in Southern California. Hit up Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, San Clemente, Newport Beach, Long Beach…..all those hot spots in Orange County. Have a blast!
    Did I guess right?

Going back to Australia from Dubai is the closest we will get to time travel. We are too far behind in comparison to Dubai. So many move to the GC from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne but the the GC is a ghost town after 7pm. If you don’t drink or like dining out every night then there is absolutely nothing to do. Sorry but Australia has absolutely nothing on this place. A lot of us have moved to Dubai because it makes more sense.

Please suggest , I am 40 , I have good job offer from both Sydney and Dubai with similar salary equivalent to 48K dh. I am from India. I am really confused whether to choose money or Australia. What will be better for family , Is it worth ignoring money and move to Australia for PR which has higher tax and cost of living.

Following on: if i have to do a little Sherlock Holmes routine it would go like this:
You're a young British couple who are adventurous, open minded, into healthy living, super positive and reaching for the stars (in terms of increasing quality of living/wealth). Want to try and learn new things all the time. Not afraid to push their boundaries and their comfort-zone/familiarity to achieve their dream life. Willing to travel and do the work required - as is attested by the fact you have reached the Gold Coast, via Dubai, and Spain? You also tour Expensive properties on your main channel.
With all that said, i'm guessing California is where you're headed. British people are already in the Atlantic - so i'm guessing More Atlantic vibes in Florida might not be your primary desire. Also, you love the sun and sporty/healthy vegan lifestyle and Spanish language (oh - the age old British Love for all things Spanish) - so all that kinda points to California.
So perhaps 'Carmel - by -the - Sea' for its European style fairytale like houses and laid back environment and serene beauty. (🤫its a secret).
Or Santa Barbara - for being a lovely warm suburban town on the coast
Or San Diego - for being built up citiy on the coast and for closeness to Mexico border and perhaps more of Spanish influence, as well as some serious Gold Coast vibes)
Malibu - for its prime real estate and the wealth of its residents.
Also consider Baja California across the Mexican border for its natural beauty - and cheaper cost of living? More untouched and off the beaten track? Also the Spanish language environment. I think it has some Middle East vibes in some of its villas and walls and Weather.
But - as a final point, and to contradict myself somewhat, i'm sure Florida can offer you many of the same things mentioned above - especially if you go closer to the southern part (Miami - looks alot like Dubai and Gold-coast) nearer to Cuba for those Spanish Vibes.

Very surprised what you say about car prices, there is not duty or tax on imported cars in Australia, so I can't understand that, A basic vehicle in Australia, let's say a Kia Rio in 2023 will set you back in US$14,000 thats the 5 door hatch basic, in Dubai the same vehicle in US$16,000 so I am not sure who gave you the prices.
