A dagger is one of many weapon types in Elden RIng! I ranked all of the 16 daggers in the game from worst to best. This was done on the fly and with more thought some things could change. Tell me in the comment section the ones you would change!

I feel like this ranking system is deeply flawed. Ranking them without factoring in ash of war changes is a mistake. As someone already mentioned the Erdsteel dagger can benefit massively from changes that boost faith scaling.
Also apparently not factoring in crit? Misericorde has the best crit multiplier in the game and can out damage weapons many times is weight on riposte which is kind of why you would run it in the first place.
Not to mention daggers like Cinquedea which is ranked below the Crystal dagger and Ivory sickle even though Cinquedea buffs beast spells and can be useful on beast builds where both crystal and ivory are like, objectively terrible but somehow ranked above both Cin AND misericorde despite the fact they can't be infused, leaving them locked to the limited utility of quickstep, have split damage which makes them scale worse into endgame AND scale off int which has so many better options for int scaling dex weapons that you will never look at these two. Not to mention they have base 100 crit damage which means they don't even do the thing daggers are best at, landing crits.

This just shows how amazing this game is! Taking all into consideration is nearly impossible. The ashes of war is a big part of the weapon spec tho. Hope he covers it in another video.

@@freddew7113 To be fair, it isn't so much that you have to take every ash of war into consideration. It's more about "Can you switch it or not, and if not: is the base skill worthwhile." The Black Knife for example can't have it's skill changed but its base skill is really good. The Ivory Sickle can't have it's skill changed so compared to a normal dagger that also starts with quickstep its has fewer options at a baseline which means it will be worse in more situations.
An Ivory sickle may do more base damage than a normal dagger but it can only fit into one type of build and in that build you would never want to waste your weapon slot on the Ivory sickle, making it terrible. Meanwhile a normal dagger can be magic infused to match the int scaling and magic damage of the Sickle, but also would bring increased crit damage which means you can make a normal dagger do exactly what the ivory sickle does but better, or infuse that normal dagger with frost to make it magic scaling but with a status buildup which makes it dramatically better than the sickle while still magic scaling.
I harp on this because Ivory sickle might be the worst weapon in the game so seeing it ranked as 4th best among daggers means the ranking system has really broken down somewhere along the way.

@@magnumx635 except Black knife have holy damage, so kind of shitty element. Ash doesn't scale that much in higher ng cycles. To full effect need both dex and faith. And to top it all of... is literally useless against final boss. So good luck trying 🤣

@@sirith9157 The ash of war does % health damage and max hp debuff, while the projectile itself doesn't scale well the debuff does continue to have utility even into higher new game cycles. I also don't necessarily recommend anyone main Black knife as a weapon but as a sidearm it is fairly light and it's stat requirements can easy be met by builds that put points into faith for buffs, which is a big bonus. And yeah sure, useless on the final boss but every weapon has fights it is better or worse on. Having one boss out of 165 it can't be used against is hardly disqualifying. I would still gladly choose it over the ivory sickle in 99.99% of the game.

@@magnumx635 daggers are great for INT builds.m. I personally use a frost Miséricorde in the left hand and the Crystal Kris in the right. Miséricorde offers great crit damage as you pointed out and the frost status, while it isn’t the best stacks well with INT and can be helpful with some bosses and beefier enemies and the Kris allows you to fight at range and close the distance without ever using spells. I watched this video to see if I was missing out on something but I’m pretty sure these are my best options for INT build. The nice thing about them for an INT build is you don’t have to spec in STR or DEX which allows for more INT, VIG, END and MIND.
Daggers are more for fun and challenge rather than huge damage dishing weapons

Erdsteel Dagger is Top 5, im using it with Flame Art on my pyromancy build and it's surprisingly good, great for a pure faith build that also wants to use a little melee

Nah, wakizashi should be lower because you can't power stance it with other daggers.
So you shouldn't consider it a dagger, you should consider it a katana with shit range.
Even if you start as Samurai, you can go get a second uchigatana when you start the game, and then you can sell that wakizashi for runes to spend on arrows.

I personally loved rocking misercorde on a high dex faith build with vykes weapon buff thing. If you know how to appropriately use the parry weapon art this build is massive amounts of fun and gets pretty neat crit to boot.

To either get more bleed or take advantage of crit.

I use reduvia main hand with poison moth misencorde on left hand. Bleed+scarlet rot might be better tho

@@oakano_2723 I honestly am running a scarlet rot,bleed,and poision build. I use blood stained dagger with poison for bleed and poision proc then in my off hand I use scorpions stinger for scarlet rot. It works rather nicely!

If you are even half decent at parrying Misericorde is hard to beat, I’ve never once used a spirit ash because parrying and crits are far to powerful.
Not to mention getting the parry off on a player is stupid satisfying.

Sadly not everything can be parried. - But for Misericorde, just use Flame of the Redmanes since it deals massive poise damage.

I use black knife as my main hand and bloodstained knife + hoarfrost stomp on my offhand giving it plus 100+ frost build up and 38 blood loss build up at +20

I've seen a dual erdsteel daggers build, flame art main hand and frost as off hand, with all the fire buffs available and with all the frost procs, this build basically mimics a bleed build but with fire and ice. I'm working on a build with them now (
But I'm running "blood misericorde" with blood Ash of war and reduvia rn with arc/dex bleed build until I get the other build ready)
this bleed build is available basically as soon as you start the game .

Depends on what stats you wanna use.
Dex-Faith? Dual erdsteel with a Black Knife as a 2nd option right hand purely for the ash of war as support.
Dex-Arcane? Reduvia main hand, Great Knife with Poison affinity offhand. - And get the Kindred of Rot and Lord of Blood Exultation talismans.
Dex-Int? Glintstone Kris main hand, Crystal Knife offhand.
Misericorde goes best with Flame of the Redmanes ash of war and a buckler or any offhand that can parry.
Pure dex? Scorpid Stinger offhand, and swap the right hand between Great Knife for bleed and Misericorde for parries.
My next build is gonna be a dagger-only pure dexterity character with no sorceries or incantations, and that's gonna run FotR Misericorde / Scorpid Stinger main hand, and Great Knife / Buckler offhand.

Magma blade is a curved sword. If you want a fire dagger you have to use an ash of war or whetstone to make it fire. I suggest Erdsteel or Miséricorde

Don't sleep on the erdsteel dagger. Many combinations can make this B tier easy. Plus it's one of the few you can enchant that has a secondary damage type outside of bleed
