Unknown fact about swarm of flies:
it can stun Malenia every tick of damage, so it’s pretty much useless against everything except the hardest boss in the game where it shreds her health bar and leaves her vulnerable to attacks.
I thought that was patched out.

Work great in pvp, you force the opponent to roll or he takes good blood buildup, and with the delay of the flies you can time an other attack to roll catch
And at 00:23 seconds in, this list gets immense credibility by a) establishing this list is specifically applying PvE not accounting for PvP and b) showing what stats were used for the data on this list.
And that, fellow Tarnished, is how you make a solid tierlist and gather good data.

ALL his tierlists are MASSIVELY skewed by his own bias and the popularity of the thing being ranked, he actually just does not even know what hes talking about 90% of the time. Whenever hes ranking something (weapon/spell) he does not actually use it for any amount of that would allow him to compare it with others or develop any kind of experience with that weapon/spell. He most likely just uses that weapon/spell for like 15 minutes or so in mohg palace then decides to rank it based on arbitrary reasons. Im not saying this as if youwy is not guilty of this either, its just that youwy usually tries to use a bit of logic to when he ranks things. (He still gets some things wrong though)

The main thing i like about swarm of flies is that if you immedietly cast it right after a critical attack they will almost always face tank the full spell allowing you to immedietly proc bleed after the critical attack

One of the things about Bloodflame blade you forgot to mention is that the bleed buildup continues on an enemy while the fire is ticking. This is one of the most important aspects of the enchantment. If you want to see it in action, take a Nagakiba with Repeating Thrust and Keen affinity (I had 20 points in Arcane for this). Put bloodflame blade on it. Go the the Subterannean depths and use the Ash of War on one of the Omen dudes. If every hit lands, he won't bleed immediately but a second or 2 later he will proc blood loss because the bleed continued to build while the fire was damaging him. This is exceptionally handy as bleed begins to slowly tick down on bosses if you don't keep hitting them with a bleed weapon. That 2 seconds can be the time you need to dodge an attack and counter.

I remembered wanted to make a faith bleed build when the game just came out, I found out about them all over the days with videos and so on. Sadly they were all kinda ehh except for the weapon buff and swarm of files.
You can proc Law of causality by using night maiden mist. That doesn’t make it any better but it’s kind of funny.

In terms of Black Flame Blade, I was just doing a bit of testing in the Underground Roadside with a +25 Nagakiba against the Omens. I tested out a 80 Dex Keen build with BFB, 80 Arc Occult build and 60/45 Dex/Arc Blood build. Consistently the 80 Arc Occult build out damaged the other 2. Single hits between the Dex and Arc builds were fairly close with the Dex build doing slightly more damage but with the quicker Blood Loss buildup from the Arc build the Omens would die a lot quicker and in fewer hits. Especially when paired with Spinning Slash, the Arc build out performed the Dex/BFB build.
I mean 22 Dex on arcane build when u have dual scavengers isnt really needed Yeah?

ive found a single use for law of causality and its in my ranged builds whenever i am going into an area where i know there are ambush dogs/rats/imps etc, often they manage to surround and stun lock you to death (i am a pretty newish player) so this delayed shockwave helps get them off and gives me space to figure out a way to fight them
i still kinda miss pyromancies being a separate magic type

2:41 i feel like elden stars is a bit too low cause while it does suck at doing damage i found that it's main use is doing poise damage and the fact that you can launch it then follow it into battle, for example i found that this spell dominated mohg cause of how much it melted his poise
Maybe it's just me but I really like black flame ritual.
The effect may seem lacking against single enemy due to the FP cost but it helps me get out of many multi enemy situations because they will almost always run into it. It has fast animation, deals decent percentage damage and stuns enemies for some good seconds, meanwhile I can either heal, charge up something else, or just let the spell finish the job for me.
I personally prefer black flame fireball over Lightning spear as it's just so efficient at dealing damage, especially lategame. It's also worth noting that the godslayer's seal has the best scaling in the game until you get like 60+ faith

i just beat malenia for my first time last night after about 50 tries, so seeing her tossed in the air by aspect of the crucible horns was immensely satisfying for me lol
There are 2 other weapons besides Sword of Night and Flame that scale off of Int/Fth
Fire/Holy infused Clayman's Harpoon
Magic infused Erdsteel Dagger
And kind of in a roundabout sense, Tree spear (Really op when buffed with Scholar's Armament with Azul's Staff)

is a solid tier list the only thing I don't agree with is swarm of flies in D yes after the nerf it does 0 damage but it chases enemies over a long distance and in combination with a weapon or other enchantment it causes bleeding very easily and because i chases enemies you can just move away and cast it a few times and it will have safe damage, it is not used as the main source of damage but on the other hand it complements an arcane build very well
For 80/80 str/faith which seal is the best? Clawmark or erdtree? I don't care about specific buffs some seals give. I just want one

Now obviously love the video, rankings like these are always fun to hear what the argument is for or against them but seriously some of you need to chill on the whole Rusty hate. Like this isn’t a competition or a dunk on Rusty for his list. Youwy just wanted to make the list, and even if it was in spite or because of Rusty’s list, at least it’s not in malice. Seriously we’re all on the same community and do these videos for different reasons. Some of us like to entertain our audiences with numbers, some of us with hot takes to actually bait people to comment, which obviously works. That aside though still very good video Youwy, I wasn’t sure if I would agree with these but this is actually pretty accurate to how I view the Incants
Surprised about Death Lightning. I found it pretty good and it carried me against Godfrey in a pure Lightning Damage run. It casts faster than ADLS, has a 360° radius so you don't have to worry about lackluster tracking like with Frozen Lightning and the damage massively outperforms Lightning Spear.
Damn I had no idea that Theo's Magma does such insane damage. Killing Radagon with it in 2 hits is hilarious

The only proper use case for vykes dragonbolt isnt riding med-heavy rolls, but light-med rolls, that way the buff feels like it does more than "letting you play normally with a bit of extra armor on for a bit", i mean it only will add some distance to your roll, but at least that's an advantage and not just normal gameplay (i say normal because most players will go for that med roll)
And imo the way to reset frost is near the end of the debuff, with a nuke
Surge Flame is good if you have a frost weapon in your main hand. As it easily applies fire damage to help reset frost build up which allows you to build it up again quicker.
He explains why thats not even a good thing. The reason resetting frostbite is bad is because the next 3 times you proc it, it only takes more and more buildup. You are better off just taking advantage of the 20% bonus dmg you do to the boss for 20 seconds than resetting it to do 10% of their health every now and then

i dont like the argument of the lesser dragon breaths>named ones bc fp cost: 17% is an absolutely massive damage increase for incantations that do so much damage. With such slow attacks you need them to hit as hard as possible It is more than worth 25% more FP
Another positive for lesser breaths is its usable on RL1 runs i guess. Also if all you want is proc status, less fp cost is always welcome, i dont think named dragon spells proc faster
I WISH... 'Dragon Claw' was cheaper but did less damage. I want a 'Catch Flame' for pure dragon incants. Even with the FP cost buff its still expensive. While it hits like a truck there isn't enough of a difference between it and Dragon Maw for it to have the specs it has.
Started ER on Christmas. Accidentally found out how OP Dragonmaw was on my 1st playthrough. Finished Foreskin Duo first try. I'm still trembling from it. This is unfair. Turned my dex/faith build into faith/arcane.

In his 'best weapon of each letter of the alphabet' video (or whatever it was called), the pike narrowly lost to the pickaxe, which got A tier. So I'd assume pike is also A tier, or high B at the very least.
flame surge, the surge oh flame of ds3, was top 3 pvp spells. that is likely this one is nerfed to be slower
Lords Heal is amazing for co op- if you don’t know what your getting summoned in for it gives a lot of help in a lot of areas

Surge o flame is basically 1 fp for every flame partical it shoots.
You’re wrong about blackflame ritual. It’s not meant to be a main. You need to know that alone it’s as bad as you say, but it’s more of a complementary spell and a great one that you shouldn’t miss.
By itself it won’t do better than other incantations and in fact costs a lot of fp, it’s difficult to land due to hitboxes, doesn’t last too long and is shadowed by scouring blackflame against most main bosses.
However I’ve found out some things. It becomes a great option to apply the percentile and raw damage to enemies like avatars, tree spirits, ancestor spirits, grafted scions, lions, lobsters, crabs, fingercreepers (in all three variants) and runebears due to their size, vulnerability to fire and amount of pressure they do to you. Most of them move a lot but that is compensated by size and you figuring out the best casting spots.
But you need to have radagon icon and endure aow if you want a better experience. I got the elite runebear in consecrated snowfield killed easily by casting this while having a dagger with endure, and the three ulcerated tree spirits consecutively. Burn o flame does a lot of damage but leaves you open and you aren’t guaranteed to cast the spell properly in many situations. Tree and draconic sentinels and nights cavalry also are vulnerable despite their fire resistance and mobility due to their size. Radagon wolves are an odd case. There are instances when it’s good but it’s just better to cast other spells because they move too much, or cast an uncharged version.
Normal mounted enemies are destroyed by this. If you need to kill mounted albinaurics this allows you to get them stunned and you can attack them with ease. You don’t know how much satisfaction that brings after so many times I struggled and died cheesed by a magic bow and wolf.
Duo and multiple enemy fights become easier because most targets block each other when moving and blackflame ritual will deal damage and has some decent stagger, and when this doesn’t work it still becomes guaranteed damage like against crucible duo and the two commanders. I don’t think you would use scouring flame as a main in the crucible fight because they close distance fast enough to not let you cast it, but against the two phantom banished knights it’s better combined with ritual.
Normal sized enemies are a different story. All soldiers, dogs, ancestral followers, and beastmen are destroyed by it, but scouring flame does waaay better in that regard, except against basilisk where you’ll prefer ritual bf. Black knife assassins and cemetery shades move a lot but they do that to jump back at you, so this spell stuns them. If you’re annoyed by alecto then this is your spell.
Against omen, leonine misbegotten, knights in general and kindred of rot it’s only a means to stagger them. They can get an attack so don’t get confident with it. You can counter this by casting scouring bf after ritual, one of the best combo spells I’ve found in pve.
From this you need to know that this is a situational spell as you’ve seen. It’s rare to see instances where damage is its perk. You also need to vary between charged and uncharged versions depending on the moment’s needs. You’ll figure out how each situation is managed by yourself. And most importantly it only becomes solid in ALL the examples I mentioned when it’s combined with something else, whether it’s an a or s tier spell or a weapon. In my case I use guardian swordspear with bf tornado to combo, but you can use a sacred affinity gs with sacred blade, or blasphemous blade. I also hated this spell when I first used but after a lot of testing I know it’s a great complementary spell that deserves better.

Depends on how you build with it. You could have high defense and poise and use close ranged spells.
No the entire point of being a caster is to have access to a wide range of tools and damage types without having to carry a whole bunch of weapons.
I still carry a a sword as a backup, the Miséricorde for either Golden Vow or Assassin's Gambit and a bow to give in to that sneak archer urge whenever I have a good vantage point. @@elrandohorse

I understand why insescapable frenzy is so low on the list, but it's so goddamn fun to bully Gideon and the Mimic Tears with it.
I don't think Elden Stars was truly designed to be a damaging move in the traditional sense. The health damage it does is minimal but the poise damage it can do is really great. Been using it with my current build which focuses on poise damage and if I can get it off at the start of a boss fight, mix it with some of the other poise-damaging moves I have and the bosses are usually on their knees pretty quickly and ready for a riposte.

Are the dragon communion spells worth using on a faith build or do you need to be using arcane?
they work great on pure faith
They work great on pure faith, but if you want to get the most out them prolly go with an arcane build using the dragon communion seal. But if you just want a quick and effective way to apply rot ,frostbite or just blast a distracted enemy with magma then yeah they are amazing for that.
theodorix uses only 10 arcane and the rest is faith so that would be worth using ,and placidusax ruin uses only faith so i would say if you want to use them for big immediate damage or you want to apply status effects like rot or frostbite stick to those. For example most of them scale better on arcane and a pure faith would hold them back. I personally had faith and 15 into arcane just to use the dragon incants but they didn't do that much damage,even with buffing and dragon communion seal in left and max godslayer seal in right for big scaling in faith, they use a lot of mana and there are better pure faith options ,which led me to use only shit that apply status effects like rot and for main damage used black flame , frenzy, fire and theodorix magma in the beginning,and in the end game ancient dragons incants and giant incants (i used a bit placidusax ruin but it's really slow,situational and mana hungry,and it gets blown out of the water by ancient dragon's lightning strike,burn o' flame and giants flame take thee, it's good on slow enemies but even then you better fully charge an ADLS or burn o' flame)

I suck at this game but I used Giantsflame take thee to bully Melania and defeat all the Night’s Cavalry. It’s also my go to when i panic. I think it should be a little higher.
I'd agree, maybe bump it just above Discus of Light. I get why it's not as good as Flame Fall Upon Them in most boss situations, but that knock back cc gives it some amazing utility in running through areas. Pest Threads as well deserves a little more credit for being your best physical damage incantation option that doesn't require arcane investment aside from Crucible Horns, which itself isn't always ideal since it can be risky to throw out. Plus, while availability wasn't brought up too much in this video, it is worth noting that it's your big enemy melter for most of the game since you only get access to Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike in the last required legacy dungeon right before the end game starts.
Burn o flame just anihilates malenia way better than giantsflame. just make her back up into a corner and enjoy the free runes.
Law of Causality is just heart-breaking... The only use I ever found for it was baiting players in while I used Holy Ground (whilst under the effect of Last Rites), and it would catch them while they tried to punish me... But sadly it does 200-300 damage no matter what.
They should have had it work similarly to either Tears of Denial from DS3 (saves you at 1hp) but adding the explosion to protect you from being combo'd/punished, or Second Chance from DeS (which works like Tears of Denial, but after reaching 1hp it restores half of your HP) while also giving the explosion... Hell, they could have it activate from being in combat for x amount of time. The fact it needs 5 hits within quick succession is stupid.

Giant Flame Take Thee should be at S tier, in the top 5, maybe in top 3. It is good charged and uncharged, do decent stance damage and it is the one that does most damage without having to get close to the enemy and charge for 3 hours like Ancient Lightning Strike

Very well structured and consistent, gives me lots of inspiration to go and test some of these I may have underestimated... btw a tip for those like me that are not native english speakers; if you struggle to keep up with what youwy says, you might try slowing the video down to 0.75 at settings in bottom right corner of video. Makes him sound less cartoonish too, no offence :)
I doubt I will nitpick any of your opinions because those are opinions but saying swarm of flies is bad for bleed procs is a matter of build because with 60 arcane and a +10 dragon communion seal I was getting most things to bleed in one cast and if it was something with high robustness I might have to get to 4 casts if they are getting out of the clouds too quickly. I'm thinking you may have to revisit that for yourself, not for making a "correction" but so you don't have to miss out on having a solid ranged bleed option for people. Although, the thing I'm pointing out is from NG not NG+ and that might actually make the difference so I suppose I'll have to get my bleed build to NG+ so I can know the difference.
something that Honed Bolt has over other lightning incantations is that it won't miss even while clearly going through the target like all other lightning incantations, even ADLS, INFURIATINGLY does so. Seriously, it pisses me off so much to cast the spell and the lightning bolts just missing because the enemy was 1cm off where the bolt has exactly to hit. When they hit they're amazing, but a lot of times they just won't, and it even doesn't matter sometimes if the enemy is big, they will still miss, and even so it kinda sucks to me that most of the times they will just be good on big enemies. These spells are way too inconsistent for me to rely on them too much, but they're still good.
