Your beautiful voice makes this mic sound much better here than on other reviews. But based on what I hear, I wouldn't use the low cut or the high frequency boost as they make it sound thin, tinny. I like that it comes with the wind muff, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a very good one, based on other reviews. What's your experience with it? Also I would have liked to hear you speaking into this mic from a bit further away, and possibly outside, which would be more of a real world test. Do you have any input on how it performs in those circumstances?
S/N=75dB SPL(A-weighted,as per IEC651) Maximum SPL=130dB SPL(@ 1% THD) Dynamic Range=111dB SPL(A-weighted,as per IEC651) Equivalent Noise=19dB SPL(A-weighted,as per IEC651)
1. Try is on the DJI pocket 3? 2. Does the 32 bit float need to be on the mic and the transmitter? Thinking of using a dji mic2 (has 32 bit float) with a Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone, which does not have the 32 bit float.
Thanks for this review 👍👍👍 which one is better for filming short movies this one or the zoom m3 ? I heard the comica does not have stereo and the zoom m3 have stereo recording.
Apologies in advance if this has been answered. My question is, can you record internally in the mic WHILST outputting to your camera via 3.5m connection. My use case is wedding, and I plan on mounting the mic on top of my a7IV (on a gimbal no less). If I can record the way I described, my editor will have more latitude when choosing which track to use for the final edit.
Indeed. At first glance the Comica is only a good buy for those who really need the wireless function, as the Zoom M3 gives you the option of stereo, while being radically cheaper ($199). But a side by side audio comparison would settle the matter methinks.
Very good review! I am an audio recording newbie... Question: Am I able to record with this VM40 32bit Float audio directly into my Nikon Z8? Or do I have to go through microphone internal Float recording and separately importing it into Davinci Resolve? Thank you very much for answering! 🙂
the direct recording sounded best - the mic is a bit thin on lower registers. I work with some folks with strong sibilance in their speech , me included- sounds like there'd be some overtime on the de-essing bay. It does seem like a very intriguing product. Would be cool if there was a pencil condenser that worked the same...
@@ComicaAudio Wow, what an innovative and well-executed all-around solution! This mic seems to have it all. It seems almost greedy to ask, but does it support timecode too?
It would be a perfect set up if it let you switch between a lapel microphone transmitter and the shotgun on one of the tracks. But maybe that will happen soon.
This is way too complicated. It’s like wanting a simple click on, click off flashlight but getting one that needs all these combinations-hold 2 seconds, hold 3 seconds, press once, press twice, press in every direction. They really botched this-it should’ve stayed simple and intuitive. At the end of the day people shouldn't have to learn formulas to have things work properly. The best selling stuff sell well because they have less things to understand and they're intuitive. I"d argue this isn't intuitive and people won't bother trying to learn these functions when another unit has simple and easy to use practicality.
The Gerald Undone of audio reviews! Love this review mate. So thorough. Hope your eyes are still good and deterioration is slowing.
Please do a comparison test with Zoom M3 and maybe other microphones!
sounds pretty nice for corporate/events
yes!
Great mic all around. I like how thorough your review is as well

Seconded!
Fantastic review as always!
This will be a welcomed addition to my Zoom M3.
Please do a comparison test with Zoom M3
Omg... and i thought i didn't need another mic...😂 great content my friend! Also...where can I find the two transmitter version?
looks like a very good microphone, thx for the video Wayne ;-)

Hi! It can use wireless mode with DJI pocket 3🥰 And the mic has 32 bit float😯
@@ComicaAudio what is the max spl of the mic ?
@@veritas932 130dB SPL(@ 1% THD)😃

Hi!Our VM40 Combo has stereo. You can try it!😇

Hello!😀You can output audio to the camera through the 3.5mm interface and use the microphone for internal recording at the same time
I literally had the VM30 on order when the VM40 came out. Glad I was able to cancel it. btw, I guess you are accepting review units from brands now?
Please do a side by side comparison with the Zoom M3 MicTrak (in mono mode)

Thank you , It would be better if they even produce XLR shotgun microphones
Hi!You can pay attention to our new products, we will produce microphones with XLR interface in the future😀
@@ComicaAudio Sure Thank you
Is the safety track feature available in the single mic version when using the wireless mode?
Only when using wired mode

HI! 32 bit Float only supports internal recording, you need to export the file😀
@@ComicaAudio Thank you very much for the fast answer! It was really helpful!

Incredible. Is it possible for the receiver to receive more than one mic?
YES!!!😮One receiver can receive two mic!

@@arhon888 It is not supported yet, you can pay attention to our future products🥰
How could you set this up for a boom operator and be able to monitor it?
You can use the wireless mode
Man I thought they’re going to sweep the market with this one! And all for that price? Disrupters!! 😬😬
The price of VM40 is $249,the price of VM40 Combo(Dual Channel)is $399
I cannot access the files recorded on it.
It connects as an audio microphone, not as storage
You can long press the two buttons of the microphone to enter copy mode, and then connect the microphone to the computer to access it.😇
How thought is the output gain dial? I returned my vm30 cause the dial was so soft and had lot of troubles with this
The gain adjustment knob is very easy to use🥰
Does it have Auto-Power on when the camera is turned on?
Yes!😄
It would be a perfect set up if it let you switch between a lapel microphone transmitter and the shotgun on one of the tracks. But maybe that will happen soon.
Good idea! 😀
Can you connect the vm30 mic to the vm40 receiver?
No, They are paired during production🙂
Does it have timecode? for Internal recorded files?
This function is not available yet😄
