Do you think this is good enough to replace my Sennheiser MKH416?

This is one of the best detailed and straight to the point review of a mic I've seen on TH-cam. Great work. You've earned a subscriber.

Great review! We recently got the VM40 and really like it. The only drawback we've noticed is the plasticky feel of the receiver.

Wow, that's alotta bang for the buck!!! I've always been kind of indifferent towards Shotgun Mics (vs Wireless Lavs) but this one has definitely gotten my attention!!! Heavily considering.

TBH, this improves my workflow and I'm now thinking of selling my Sen 416. I'm getting tired of having to recharge AA batteries on my zoom h6 and then having to take out the SD card and all that including cabling. With the WM40 I just plug in and that's all. Its like a new wind has blown over me.

@@YourFilmmaker Great in-depth review as usual my brother. Big fan of your reviews. And to add to your point, yes, it looks like the Comica has all the tools to enhance workflow speed. Built in Audio Storage, rechargeable, technically it could act as a Wireless Lav in a way as well. Although the value is clearly evident I'm just not entirely sure if I'd use this more often than my Hollyland Mk2's. What do you think? I'm not full time as of yet but inching closer towards that path.

@@-441- the M2s from Hollyland are awesome I must say. But with 32-bit float there's no holding back. I tested the VM40s on high and very close to my mouth and I was still able to recover. This isn't possible with the M2a from Hollyland although they are super great mics. Once your audio is clipped that's it.

@@YourFilmmaker Agreed, great point. My thing is, I'm slowing moving towards using gear regularly but still, not enough use cases to justify additional purchases that risk collecting dust. The MK2's were just a way for me to cheat/hack any scenario where I'd need to run & gun (my main atm).

    I guess it's 2.4gHz wireless?

      @@jakobgeorgaudio yes it is 2.4GHz

What's a great video! Comica VM40 supports 32bit float recording, so users can use on-board recording to record audio no matter how far you are from the camera.😄
