    Thanks for your sharing! Comica VM40 COMBO has duo microphone with 32bit float, which will highly improve your workflow.😄

      Hi Comica! 1 question and 2 pieces of advice:
      - Does the internal recorder have dual analog to digital converters?
      - try getting the self noise down to a 15dbA in the next generation. It would be a much better tool
      - make the next generation so it has a replaceable battery, and it will immediately get huge respect from professionals. People hate the fact their mic will end up in trash in a few years after the battery dies. Mics are supposed to last for decades.

    I use a lav type wireless mic with my Pocket 3, but would also like to record the sound off my subject where I can’t possibly use another wireless lav - like animals or a plane or a train to accompany a long shot

    did you notice the 32bit audio not syncing up? I had mine recording for more than an hour and the sync is out with my z8, z9, z6iii footage. the audio is actually shorter than the footage. working with FCPX. it might not be VM40's problem but just throwing out there as I'm just frustrated and ask for others' experience

      @itmeremy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@farreach84 I'm not too sure, I haven't had that issue so far. Could potentially be a mismatch between the sample rate of the mic and the camera, but again, not too sure

      @@itmeremy I set up my projects correctly (48Khz) and according to the specifications from both Nikon and Comica this shouldn't be the problem so...I went to search on the internet and found some old post on Apple support community page that addresses the bug on FCPX after an update...so...I think I should just wait for the next update and see how things pan out. I don't use DaVinci or Premiere so there's no way for me to cross check and thought I might ask here and sounds like I got my answer.

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @farreach84 oh ok, fair enough, you could potentially revert back to an older version of FC. Or if you wanted to test it, you could download davinci for free just to check and then just uninstall it after if you'll never use it again

    Hello! I’ve heard that the 32-bit float recording feature of this microphone may not work as effectively as expected. Have you tested it yourself? If so, does the 32-bit float truly provide significantly greater flexibility for post-production? I’d appreciate your insight.

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @Filmmakers_N I've had no issues with it so far. Literally in this video I turned the mic all the way down and boosted it in post and it was still very clean, and I talked loudly into it and lowered it in post and it worked fine. So I'm not sure what issues you'd be referring to

      @Filmmakers_N I can't get a real answer anywhere, but I don't think this is a real 32bit float recorder. A real 32bit recorder needs to have dual A/D converters, but I have a feeling this doesn't. There are still benefits to having 32bits without dual coverters, but I don't think you can increase the gain without introducing a lot of hiss and it can clip before reaching the 32bit digital recording. For example, Rode Wireless Pro also does not have dual coverters if I'm not mistaken.
      BTW where did you hear about not being able to take full advantage of the 32bit?

  • @smallbizdigitalmedia

    Great video. Can it just record the 32 bit float internally without even bothering with the receiver etc as the feature that draws me most is that minimal mike only set up without cables or receivers

    • @itmeremy

      @smallbizdigitalmedia yes it can, you just hold the record button to start and stop recording. And you can copy the files straight off the mic

      Are you asking a humble YTuber, who runs a nice yet modest channel, to test gear worth between 4000 and 8000 USD or Euro for the package ?
      Send those requests to PMcK or MBrownlee. Rémy does his best, but he's no magician !
      Why not buying the gear yourself ?
      Or trying to ask manufacturers if they'd fancy handing over some of their stuff for you to test ! Let's see how this goes... I being curious about this. 😂👌

    The sound that is recorded directly on the mic has more low frequencies what i hear on my studio, couse on the phones i don't think people will hear that. These guys make good products which i didn't expect when i first bought from them. I have the Comica WS 60 combo (duo lav mic). It's been since the beggining of 2019 i bought it. I already had the RodeLink and still have them both, but i always use WS60 couse if i have to interview someone else i can use the Comica since it has both microphones that can be connected with the receiver. The downside of those mics is that both rodelink and comica can't save the record in the mic itself, so if you forgot to connect the jack to the camera you're done :D (that's not their fault). Anyway i never get the bag of the mic couse i think you already know the strugle to get stuff out and connect them :D i just put the receiver on the camera and the transmiter with the lav mic on my pocket the night before shooting :D you did a good cover on this mic!

    So just to confirm, the file that records directly into the mic seems to sound much better than the sound it sends into camera or is that because you EQ’d the onboard mic file?

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AdamSzarmack it generally does sound a little better because it doesn't have to go through the camera's processing, and it's 32bit rather than 24bit. I did no EQing on any of the audio in this video, I only adjusted overall volume

      @itmeremy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @steve_arcenio fair point. So far I almost always use the onboard recording and just use the wireless one to sync. It's a little bit more work in post but the 32 bit float really does make a difference

    • @steve_arcenio
      @steve_arcenio หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ yeah I like that part of the mic the 32 bit float. I own the Sennheiser 416 and MKE 600 for my documentary setup. Comica might benefit from corporate work, I like the fact that there will be no wires on the floor so people don’t trip 🤌🏼

    • @itmeremy

      @steve_arcenio absolutely, long cables can be quite annoying

    • @gillesmatheronpro
      @gillesmatheronpro หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rémy, you are spot on here !
      I see this double recording function very useful on set, just for that synchronisation possibility you mention.
      Because, even if something fails there is always a great quality 24 bits / 48 kHz track recorded internally by the camera.
      And montage softwares will have no troubles matching those exactly identical soundtracks with absolute precision. Many of them have problems because inboard microphones usually pick ambiant sound that lacks definition and volume, making it difficult to identify and match soundwaves.
      With a proximity microphone (the VM40 mic/transmitter itself) being so close to the sound source and the receiver on the camera getting that exact same sound (only encoding it with a lower bitrate), the "match sound waveforms" shall operate flawlessly.
      That is the other great idea the folks at Comica have made a reality... bravo !

    • @gillesmatheronpro
      @gillesmatheronpro หลายเดือนก่อน

      And operaters ( = we) use their time effectively ! Instead of coiling/uncoiling cables for hours... in a month, this is what we do for real even though we tend not to realize it. ☝️😔
      That is so precious, in an era where we are sometimes asked to either cut corners or lower prices.
