love how you put us interacting with u on the vid buddy!! sweet vid keep em coming man, me my wife and dad r the ones in the smaller steely! i'll be sure to say hello again next time, tight lines boys
I used this setup for perch in the 80's only we didn't use plastic on the jig. Both hooks tipped with minnows. Never was told a name for it. It was just the way my dad taught me. We also had a couple of rods with spreaders. It's crazy how fishing techniques have changed in the area over the past 30 years. I remember when drift fishing with Erie Dearie's was the only way to fish for eyes on the lake during the summer, now trolling bandits is all the rage.
I have tried that in the past as well but never caught any on the top bait and I felt like it hampered the feel a bit, so I decided to just use the jig. I just used a Fin-S minnow on the top one. Did you get any on the top bait? Also, tell your buddy that the limit is 6 and that you are allowed to keep fishing when you have a limit…😀 He said that you were done after your 5th and that you would have to sit and watch…
Before the term dropshot hit the scene, we called it tight lining bc the sinker was tied on the bottom. We also used a 3-way swivel in some cases, and many would & still tie a pre-snelled hook to the main line.
I just tied up a double rig Sunday fishing from shore near the Ren cen. I had a 1oz jig on the bottom and a 1/2oz Zman gobius swim bait about 12 inches above. I landed 2 on the top bait.
I always wear a life jacket...because you never know when someone will go full throttle to miss hitting a harmless buoy and run into you. 😂 I do the basically the same rig when fishing for smallmouth...not really anything new, just a new name for it I guess. I tie a dropshot above my ned rig. I even caught two bass at one time at Harsens Island this year using it. Some call that the Drop Dead Ned. Great video.
11:38 I’m glad I,m not the only one that does this stuff. 😂. Good vid guys!!

I always keep a small portable battery booster on board. Luckily I’ve never had to use it but it’s helped fellow fishermen.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but we have been doing that since the late 1980's. You yung one's are rediscovering us old timer techniques.
What did you guys call it? No one happens to have a name for this setup, just claim they seen it done before.
@@harleyfolgadono bubble to burst.....catching fish is catching fish

Sorry to burst your bubble but I've been doing this since the 1930s and I told him he can call it the old Gregory
BTW, this is an all species rig 🎣

Awesome rig!! I usually use a wooly booger fly as the top hook.
