Hey everyone!
In this video, I share with you the process of an every day client who wants to go from dark to light. Starting with the consultation and asking for "no orange" the journey begins!
I show you all how to do a rooted platinum card to blend gray only using my blend strategy "tease". I explain in the video how tease can be used a few different ways to blend and add dimension!
This transformation was pretty fun but a little stressful seeing as how her hair did not want to lift past yellow/orange in the first session. You have to make some tough calls during a color correction and many of those calls are a defining moment for the guest relationship. During the consultation I had to explain various ways that we must go WITH what the hair wants instead of against it when it comes to toning and prepping for the next session, otherwise when we meet again we will likely have to add an additional 2 hours of application time, extra couple of hundred dollar plus the not needed stress on the hair.
We made a lot of decisions during this service that were the RIGHT call and that would set us up to win for her next appointment...in a few weeks! We will show you what happens next, but for now please enjoy this amazing tutorial packed with 18+ color correction tips that I teach my students.

I have been following you for a long time. I have even been part of your mastermind group. I also have been behind the chair for a really long time, I’m considered a “seasoned stylist”. I did a color correction the other day. It was grey blending one. It was scheduled to last a minimum of 4 hours. Took me 6½ hours. 2 hours of those were spent foiling a full head of really fine hair. But I was glad I did it in 2 hours. It used to take me at least 3 hours.

I literally gasped at the end. I'm having a color correction done today and this gives me hope that I can get from brown box dye to blonde!

@@drkmgic Not even close, it was a complete disaster. The stylist left bleach in my hair for 8 hours. I knew that wasn't right and I spoke up, but she kept telling me it was "special bleach" that wouldn't cause damage but my hair came out in clumps in the sink. My hair was mid-back when she started and I walked out with an orange pixie cut. I had to wear wigs for 6 months. Then she had the gall to try and charge me $650 for melting my hair off. I would have sued If the salon had made me pay. It was the only time I've ever cried over my hair and I'm never setting foot in another salon ever again.

Amazing! I’m 10 years into hair and just now really really finding myself! Crazy right? How long do you let the foils sit? I am always so scared and rinse too soon! I have never played with using such low developers either....maybe that’s my problem. And do you use heat?

I just wonder why you didnt do a color remover and Malibu color disruptor and CPR before jumping into using lightener?
She had already tried Color removers and a few other remedies we wanted to get the most impact so I just went for it:)
What did you end up doing with the already lightened pieces that had the blue direct dye on them? Did you just run some bleach through them to lift out the blue after you already had put the foils in?
No strand test? 😆 just went for it and told her brighter till the next session. Cool when they agreed. And paid for!
strand tests are cool but either way we are going for it and checking as we go... i wouldnt change my approach its 5/10 volume and the heat of the foils laying on top of one another will change the outcome so instead of going with a stronger developer the day of I decided to go slow and steady
