Salon Reality Color Correction Part 2

  • What's up everyone!
    Welcome to part 2 of this incredible salon reality color correction! There was a lot of emotion involved in this visit as we didn't reach her goal in the first six hour session. She had a lot of banding as you saw in the first. video: • Salon Reality Color Co... (here's the link if you haven't watched) and I made the decision to tone her as light as possible to set us up for our next session!
    Her cuticle was obviously blown wide open because we did a platinum card. This is to be expected no matter what products you use because when lightening the hair, the cuticle has to open up and it really depends on the hair history how quickly it closes down.. If the guest has virgin hair and a tight cuticle it will close down faster but with a lot of processing the cuticle takes longer. When I first went blonde myself, it took my hair almost 6 months to close down completely and I used every product, let my hair rest, did all of the things I was supposed to do, however my hair was just so processed it took forever to close down! In the last video, it is clear we needed another session - she had a lot of warmth and banding and she obviously was not going to be able to fall in love with that color. I would have booked a longer session or went over time but she didn't want to at that time.... its also about the clients budget, time constraints and mood. We settled to meet again in two weeks and when she walked in on the day of that appointment, she was NOT happy with me.
    In fact, she started our appointment by kind of threatening me that she better love her hair with the amt of money she has spent. I have a WHOLE podcast coming out that talks about what truly goes into color corrections and the stress and anxiety that stylists endure for a LUXURY service!! Its not our goal its the clients goal, yet sometimes the clients treat us like we are making them do this. I am working on a video for the industry to use as a resource for corrections to let their clients know what to expect before, during and after a color correction. My guest ended up being awesome, she was just in her feelings which is to be expected! She even told me to talk about what happened on my podcast after she profusely apologized for threatening me LOL. I was like "you are lucky i am a strong person cuz many stylists would not have been able to work under that level of stress."

    So glad you addressed her being cranky and complaining in the video. It’s really helpful to know that even superstar hairdressers that actually train others still have clients coming in winging thinking they know better and it’s not just us little guys. Love this

      @@ginaguess3922I would be cranky too if I spent all of this money the 1st time and it didn’t come out. Then to have to go back two weeks later and have more damage and pay again.
      This client doesn’t deserve to have their hair done though either. If she did this mess to herself she shouldn’t be allowed to change it. If some other stylist created this mess they should fix it.

    I had to come watch part 2! No matter how well we try to prepare a guest as to what to expect. We always run into a guest not fully understanding or not completely listening and being unhappy. If doing a color correction is not hard enough on us mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally it’s dealing with our guests expectations outbursts of Dissatisfaction. I love love love the raw real journey of this service! I am very jealous of all the up-and-coming new stylists, because they have you in their path of professional color corrections!

    I immediately felt so much frustration when you said she was irritated when she came back in 😂 you’re so incredible and I think only stylists understand how intricate and crazy corrections can be. It’s insane how light you got her in that first session!

    Thank you for the video! so glad to hear other stylists talk about their trials and tribulations and successes, with color corrections. I do find redken's cat treatment to be very helpful before the toning process it helps the color molecule cling to the cuticle.

    Phew 😅 hair is expensive and beauty is a pain ! You looked e exhausted 😴 by the end of 2 session! $1,125 (9 hrs maybe 10) with all that finishing. Plus she’d better purchased the entire joico series to keep up with her investment or your are not responsible for broken unkept hair 😆 you did your job and well done!

Oh and before I forget where do u get your capes from baby doll? mine just teared the other day!😰 hopefully it comes before the video, otherwise you’ll be protected in a normal cape, meanwhile I’ll be in my ripped one getting hair all over and itchy.     I really hate that people expectations are beyond reality and when you spend so long in the consultation describing the risks and that the process won’t look pretty every stage ,then get rude to you about the result I feel like just saying get out and don’t come back you are delusional
