- In this video, I share my go-to sectioning for highlights as well as my best tips for addressing spotty hair color and bands.
This client came to me with very grown-out highlights and previous damage. While she took care of her hair before coming to me, she still had fragile hair to color.

Saying color correction, as opposed to full/partial foils, … is a massive difference in price. Color correction is $245-$300, and foils are $120-$155. Some salons will charge color for correction, which is absolutely wrong if hair just hasn’t been done for a long time. Not when you come in because your at home hair project bombed.
I don’t know if you saw the before, but this is a color correction if there is banding that had to be fixed, for example if a person is a bleached platinum blond and has gone passed the 1 inch mark of regrowth and it has gone to let’s say 2 inches or more they become a color correction because of how much regrowth has been left out without getting it touched up. In that instance when the hair is further away from the scalp it takes longer to process and the 1 inch that is closer to the scalp processes faster causing banding which is then a color correction because you have to correct the tone that it came out to be that person is not just a blond retouch anymore they are in fact a color correction, off track but in this video she has loads of banding in various areas. Parts of her hair were and level 8 parts were a level 9 Which needs correcting, weather it be with color weather it be with bleach weather it be with foils she corrected the previous color and gave her a. Ore even grow out and a more even tone throughout.
It depends. some regrowths can become color corrections

Because I’m watching hair videos I’m going to share a horrifying moment in Sally Beauty today. I was there for some last minute foils because everyplace else was closed due to a storm in my area.
There was a woman there looking for a color to add lowlights to her hair at home because she felt like her blonde was too solid. She was a level 8-9 blonde. She specifically said she didn’t want to go too dark and the girl there who obviously had no idea about any of their color lines talked her into getting a level 5 color. I actually heard her say “a level 6 is really just dark blonde, I don’t think you would even see it in your hair”.
I admit to letting my introvert tendencies let me not step in but I keep picturing this woman rinsing the permanent level 5 color she got out and realizing what a mistake she made asking the Sally’s employee for color advice.

Love the results just have a small doubt. How to avoid darkening the highlights with the 7N/7A? Is that baseline color permanent and used with vol 20 and the Demi with 10 vol? Lastly, would you say to saturate the root more to avoid the hot brassy color? Thx

I usually address this with more saturation for lightener application, or by blending with a toner at the warm line with a darker level like 6NUA. Hope this helps!
I have this issue as well. There’s always that bright gold/brass right at the line near the root. Have tried different things with doll heads, my own head, my sister, but nothing works other than toning down 🥺.
@@MirellaManelli thank you! I tried everything it’s less now than before but it’s still there so I have to blend it with toner :)
@@lilatolouian it’s frustrating, isn’t it? I moved back to Thailand where most people are level 2 it’s so hard to work with. What I tend to do now that helps is using a thicker consistency and even if I feather it I make sure to lay a lot of product. When my lightener is thinner I see more orange. So overall it’s still there but less than before. Please let me know if any technique works for you xx

I don't actually do anyone else's hair (mainly just my own or my sis and doll heads), but I do have that REALLY difficult level 2-3 stubborn hair, and I DO LOVE using a 1- 1.5 ratio, but every time I try to add more product on that line, I either just still get that rusty gold, or, even worse, when my foils swell and bleed!!BLEEDS ARE THE WORST!!! Especially on dark hair!! Totally sucks, the only time I didn't have this issue was when I was using permanent color to lift my base before highlights, but of course, it always lifted to a super warm color, so those warm roots blended right in lol.

That turned out gorgeous! Question about the crown. Do you just go from one side? Not back & forth? And you said small pie shape? Is that correct? With the larger side at the right side?
Yes! The crown is pie shaped sections. depending how the hair falls you can choose the wider side on the left or right.

When you do the micro slices on the top triangle are you leaving hair between the foils or no?
Yes there is little hair between each foil. She had so much breakage there, that I wanted to minimize the amount of lightening but still get coverage. .

Do you use Olaplex or some kind of bondor when you’re just using the blue powder bleach since it doesn’t have a bond in it?? Especially for that much damage I’m curious what you use. I’ve been on K18 love it
Generally no. I do love Olaplex and K18. Both great brands. However, I felt confident in this application because she had enough root. If she didn't then I would opt for beyond bond which has the built in bond builder.
Looking back at this I would think she is a great candidate for K18 after the crystal gel treatment.

I used the dedicated developer which comes in 20Vol.
by folding the paper, the already bleached hair slaps onto the bleach...very bad
