Black Box Dye Hair Color Correction - FULL CORRECTION FROM BLACK TO BROWN HAIR

  • In this full tutorial, I'm sharing the deets on how to remove black box dye for a hair color correction. This hair tutorial is full of color correction tips including my go to box dye remover and how to do a strand test! Learn how to take black box hair dye and turn it into brunette to blonde.
    Do you know WHY you should strand test? Strand tests tell you the full story before diving in head first and in the end save you time when doing hair color corrections.
    .
    Here is the breakdown 👇🏼
    .
    After doing the strand test I went in with a traditional indirect dye color remover. Stinky but so worth a shot since my model had LOTS OF BLACK HAIR DYE 💀 .
    This gave me a great canvas to start with so I could go in with my final arsenal💪🏼
    I used all Matrix for this one🌸
    Babylights and microslices with Lightmaster 20vol into 30vol
    Lifted to level 9 at top and orange levels 7/8 on mids and ends (black hair dye would not budge)
    Final shade Color Sync 7N/7A into 7A on dry hair 20 min.

      I have thick hair like that, it Takes FOREVER TO DRY, so i have to use a hair dryer (sorry if it's wrong, not native English), you need a lot of conditioner and a fucking lot of hair dye. Also i cut it in layers to make it lighter

      California Doll girl don’t be. I am Armenian. We rent to have so much hair. It’s so miserable. First of all it’s coarse, wavy, puffy and so much. Every time I go to a salon the hairdressers won’t stop saying omg you have so much hair, like I am not aware, either my shower tub 😂 I can never style my hair. It’s a lot of work. Trust me

    I have hair very similar to hers & it’s SO hard to work with. I recently went from 10 years of black box dye to a light ash brown & it was HARD! I’m still needing to bleach more because I’m still too orange. This video was really cool to watch I hardly ever see my hair type on these videos 😊

    This is beautiful. I get anxiety goin into any salon. So what do you think about olaplex when doin all the coloring. Do you use it at all? Do you think it helps any when coloring ? I take very good care of my hair but my grey growth is very stubborn. Color does not last long in my hair. Very disappointing. Either be box or professional.

    Hi Mirella great video. I have a lady who is a level 3 and wants to be a 6 with highlights. She says she's been using a semi permanent box color but it looks quite permanent to me. I'm thinking of stripping the color than alternating color and highlights. She is 80 % grey at the roots. I'm not sure because of her grey if I should use demi or permanent color. What do you think?

    • @MirellaManelli

      Sorry this took me so long to respond. Each scenario is different but I change by service. Each color remover is $100 and up. Babylights $200-$400+, Color melt $120+, and a haircut.
      This service was over $1000 due to product usage and the amount of time it took. Base your price based on your experience level too. I hope this information helps.

    Since you brought the level 9 down to 7 to even it out will it lift evenly next time you lighten her or will her mids end up lighter again?

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lotus Beauty yes, it will lighten because demi is designed to gradually fade. This is why I would recommend for this client to tone her hair every 6/8 weeks. As it grows out, we will continue to lighten the new growth.

    wow you’re so good at hair😍i’ve come across this video as i’ve had a hair disaster!! my hair is naturally a light brown and i wanted a chance so i dyed it with a demi permanent dark brown and it went jet black! i was unhappy with how harsh the colour looked as it didn’t suit me so i then i used a dye remover on it (that was for semi and semi permanent dye) and now it’s a dark brown colour with lots of red tones in it and i really want my light brown hair back and regret dying it haha! it’s been about 3 months since and the colour hasn’t really gone any lighter as i thought it would.. i’ve been to my hairdressers and they say they can’t do anything about it... so i was just wondering if you have any idea on what’s going on with my hair or if it’s possible to get the dye out?❤️i love your channel btw x

    This is vary similar to my situation I’ve not put any black box dye on my hair since March which is 8 months, I’m a brunette naturally which for me is medium brown/ dark brown and tried using vitamin C tablets and head and shoulders clarifying shampoo which has helped but I’ve got this horrible red which goes orange which I need to cut and grow out as I intend on getting pink highlights and my natural hair would have to be bleached to at least a level 9 or 10. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    I always hear stylists saying if you’re gonna dye your hair black don’t use box dye. So I used the ion permanent color from Sally’s but isn’t it still gonna be just as hard to get out as regular black box dye?

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      black hair dye in general is hard to remove. Honestly, each brand can have its challenges removing. However, box dye is more harsh on the hair since its formulated to hopefully work on everyone! 😱 Just think about that. Box dye should work on EVERY color of hair. SO you would have to use aggressive product. Plus, when doing your hair at home you are sure to have overlap and that's one factor into why people get banding and color correction is needed.

    Hi im a beginner in the styling business. Im a student and learning about color correction. Yesterday my gf, came to the school and she had darker ends and natural level 5/6 roots. Her ends were boxed died black but washed out. The teacher told me to do balayage in and take chunkier sections all over . Then to lift her hair to a light brown and tone with Wella color touch 2/3 of 6/0 and 1/3 7/1. Well, it turned out to have more red undertone and warmth while her natural color is a cooler light brown. In the daylight i can see the difference. I don't think shes happy with it. What do you recommend I do to tone down the warmth and make it more cooler tone?

    So I have black box dye and I saw how awful it looks when the dye is removed 🥺. With time like after washes after you gave her that beautiful color. Will her hair turn blonde and orange again eventually after a lot of washes? Or no once it’s dyed a dark brown it doesn’t go to red/orange and blonde. ( I tried to make sense ) I’m dying my hair soon, what do you recommend so my hair stays looking nice once it’s dyed after black box dye? I’m doing chocolate brown I believe...

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All hair has to go through that inbetween phase of orange tones. The only way to correct that is with a toner. As time goes by, she will get lighter and the hair is no longer orange. If the warmth bothers you, you can always apply toners more frequently to control the warmth.

      I still would follow the same process since the color remover does not affect natural hair. The end result is up to you, however hairpainting is not going to give you the same lift a foil is.

    How do I get rid of pink roots?
    Was virgin hair they did highlights then after a year she got her sister to use a dye box color purple. Two months later she wanted her hair blonde. I did some highlights but the roots are hot pink!! How do I get rude of it. I'm trying the baking soda and dawn detergent with purple shampoo and 10devp.

    Omg what a process u did, looks so good ! Just a questian, why did u even put ash in her rootformula, isnt that gonna fade green? I think i should have put a 7n/7g on the roots 😃

    • @MirellaManelli
      @MirellaManelli  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, the color won't fade to green because "N" has red, gold, and blue. There is enough warmth added with the N to prevent it from fading green.

Any idea what I should even ask for to get the result she got at the end of this particular video when I go to the salon? Or should I just show a picture lol. Thanks for making this video, it gave me hope that my colour can be corrected after years of box dye abuse. 😅

    • @MirellaManelli

      It all comes down to what the test strand shows. I would show a picture so they know what the desired ends goal is. The service would be a color correction. Do some research and go to someone who specializes in it so they do it properly and safely.
