Thank you for posting this tutorial! I've watched hundreds of hair instructions on TH-cam & you are the most talented & informative demonstrator. I hope you post more videos.
I love the result - it’s beautiful, but I didn’t get a good sense of the foil placement. The camera didn’t show us clearly how you were parting and sectioning for the foils in the teardrop.
Thank you for sharing this! I'm going to try this out. It looks very easy and simple to do. Highlights are my weaknesses. I'm not quick enough so it's one of the services I dislike doing. However almost everyone wants highlights so it's something I'm pushing myself to get better at. This tutorial helped a lot!
Thanks so much for posting this awesome video. Good job. I noticed that so many hairdressers skip the back or the the whole bottom part of the head. I find it so much more natural when the back and even near the neck is foiled. My other picky thing is this: you really need someone super precise if you want to re do the same balayage in a few months. I never had a hairdresser looking to catch the same section to re highlight it the next time so I end up doing my own highlights all the time. I love having the same sections picked up. I know it’s picky but precision is my thing:0)
Thank you so much for sharing such wonderful time saving technique with high impact look. Just like to know what’s t ratio taken of lightener & developer ?
This is exactly what I’m going to do! Since I already have highlights , do I only highlight the regrowth or should I put the bleach on the already highlighted piece? My hair is damaged. So I don’t want it to get worse but I don’t want bonding
🥺I have dark black hair but also have grey on front and top crown and front sides only. What type of highlights do you recommend so my dark and grey hair so I may blend as it grows out and I won't have to do it as often to avoid damaging or drying out my hair????🤔
Great question! We recommend visiting a local Kenra Professional salon for more assistance with your specific service needs. A Kenra stylist in your local area will be able to provide you personalized recommendations best suited for you. To find a salon or retailer in your area that carries Kenra products, please visit www.kenraprofessional.com/salon-locator. We always recommend calling before your visit to make sure they have the services you are looking to purchase.
I love this video ❤️💛💚💙💜🌈but I wish you would have out the hair up after the result to show exactly what it would look like when you added colour to the front of the hair...😢😢😢
Girl, I need advice. I want to make those highlights but also to refresh my color and roots. In what order should I do it? Like, make highlights and then put on new color on everything, or seperate highlights from other hair and put color only on non highlighted parts then or do it in reverse? Or put firstly new color on the roots, then make highlights and then put color on everything than highlights? I will be grateful for any advice 🙏 ❤️
Hello! We recommend having a consultation with your stylist to ensure you get what you want. You can apply color to the roots and then do highlights after that in the same service, or you can do them in multiple services depending on what your needs are for the end result. We hope this helps!
What do you do when you’re going over a halo that was previously done and she has some uneven color in there a client I have has some old box dye in there but she definitely has a halo as well and she wants to keep the non-halo section black I really don’t know what to do I kind of feel overwhelmed
Hi there! Without seeing the hair, it's hard to help diagnose, but in theory, you should be able to section out the halo and ensure that everything outside of it remains dark while being able to work within the halo section to retouch accordingly. We hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
I have a client that pulls gold undertones, if I feather highlighter will it be yellow there after application?? Have a big issue with her hair holding gold! TY❣️
Hi Debi, thanks for the question! The result of feathering lightener can vary depending on the level of the hair you are highlighting. We recommend fully saturating the hair and lifting above the client's desired level, then tone down to their desired shade. This will help eliminate any unwanted warmth in the hair.
Good question! In that case, you can do very fine highlights or babylights in the bang/fringe area. This will give a sunkissed, natural-looking result. Depending on how bright the client would like the fringe area would determine the number of foils you would place in that section.
I can't tell. Are you working from the back or 1 side going across the top. I know that doesn't make sense, but I can't tell. I thought you started on the left in the back but then it seems it's just going up over her head? I'm typing all of this to try & explain what I"m seeing so you can fill me in best! LOL Sorry.
OK, I see now. It's late! The back wasn't at a point, it was rounded. That's where I got lost. No reply necessary. Love it. Have a client this will work perfectly on next week! She's mostly blonde, but wants the base & mid shaft area to be a strawberry blond. She's 85% level 9 right now. Would I be able to put that all over the outgrowth, do the blonding then carry it through the non blonde pieces or do it like you mentioned gray coverage.
The out come was not to my satisfaction . I like the placements of the foils . I looks brassy it could be lighting in her studio . I usually make my own toners and within 1 to 2 minutes it tones the hair . Any toner that sits more than 5 minutes breaks the Base color . Most of my clients keep thier natural color it is easier . Low maintence . I love to color this is where science , experience , chemistry , artistry , gather in the hair salon . I don't consider my my career as work is what I love and enjoy . I thank GOD all the time for the ability to do hair . My salon as been open twelve years .the bush and Obama presidency when the economy was devasted , and here we go again . To all hair stylist and colorist hang in there it's almost over . Make sure you are all well stock with products cause the people are going to come in like a flood . Best wishes and great success .
Hi Ninoska! For this application, Kelly used Simply Blonde Blue Powder Lightener with 20vol developer at a 1:2 ratio for the highlights. She then used equal parts of Kenra Color SV & VP Rapid Toner with 9vol activator at a 1:2 ratio for up to 5 minutes.
I hate to say this but in the time you took to film the video, you didnt get to finish what you started, because of too much talking. Its ok to explain things. Its ok to use a manequin. I would have liked to see the finished coloring on the manequin. Good video otherwise.
Hi Wendy! So sorry you didn't catch the final end result. It is actually displayed on the entire head in the first 15 seconds of the video. Hope this helps!
😠ARE YOU SERIOUS?! You strategically talked about the placement of foils, and how it will look a certain way when the client wears it parted or pulled back. So how at the end are you NOT going to show any of the foils that you just did? we just get to look at the front which doesn't show anything. I'm so pissed I was invested in using this technique. Not knowing what the outcome looks like, I'm not risking a new technique. Now that's 14 min of my life I'll never get back.
(My point of view) that is a mannequin and look like they have a level 4 or 5, and synthetic hair! no so many clients have that level of natural color. How you can say about use low product if you are working with a mannequin. I’m sorry I don’t now who or how you working on that line. I’m always talk w the truth I’m never cheap on product, the quality of results will be the process the technique and the way you gonna work and this is just not a good way to work. I’m sorry if I was you boos I back to you to get better education
Well, Wendy.....the good news is that you will never have to be in her chair. This is an educational video for professionals, so if you don't like the talking and explanations, why did you listen?
Y’all are legitimately amazing at teaching us what y’all know. So so cool. Work smarter! Not harder!
Thanks so much! 💕😊
I was just thinking the same exact thing!
Kenra has some great education 🙌
Very pretty, just wish I could of seen the foil sections alittle better
AGREEEEEED couldn't see anything she did or where she did it. Kenra needs a new camera person
couldn't see your technique as result v clear.hope you do it again as part of-2 and show us.

All of them are! It’s great! And amazing! I feel so blessed to have found them! They are so humble and good. Kindred spirits:-)
We appreciate you both for being part of our TH-cam family!

Thank you for the feedback, Patricia! We are always working on ways to make our content even better. We appreciate you!

Simply Blonde Blue Powder Lightener + 20Vol Developer mixed at a 1:2 ratio :)

We recommend applying only to the retouch area. This will help prevent possible overlap of the previously lightened areas.

Thank you for your feedback ☺️

Please do! Such a great technique ❤️
Nice end result! But the parting she did was very fast, that I could not fully understand, not very visual,
Very nice technique! How much I should charge for this partial highlights?
Vp and Sv rapid toners together are my favorite.
They are so good! ❤️
