So I was at this Worlds in Paris. You were able to see everything that you saw in the video. The way they did it was they had a very thin mesh screen infront of the performers and projected the images onto it. Thats how they were able to show all the in game animation on stage. If you look very close you can see gthe mesh screen. It was absolutely amazing being there.

@@Gandorhar My friends and I sat in the front so we were able to see the entire thing. I heard from others that you were able to watch it from the back as well but not from the left or right. When you are watching it from the back though you will see the animation/holograms but obviously all the performers are facing their backs to you.

    Context for Phoneix:
Rookie's Lissandra - 2015 World's in EU, IG finished last in their groups, defeated by FNC, AHQ, and C9(posters in the subway), one of the "easiest" groups back then. His beautiful Lissandra performance won their last game vs C9, but it was filled with desperate, regret, and shame. It was LPL's worst year ever and he received A LOT of hate comments together with every other LPL player. The "genius mid"- GodV from 1st seed LGD changed his ID then finally retired afterwards due to the never-ending storm of hate comments. It was Rookie's 1st season in the LPL and it was the start of his 3yr disappearance from the world stage - the lowest moment in his career.
2nd theory: 2018 World's quarterfinals, 3rd game vs KT Rolster, he failed to defend the base and IG lost the game by 2 autos on the Nexus.
Caps' Irelia - 2018 World's FNC lost to IG, he went 0-4 then 1-6 on one of his best champ Irelia, and FNC got completely destroyed in the next two games as well. We all knew how confident Caps had been in the tournament and he did flex on various midlaners before the final, so it was huge destruction for him.
Faker's Karma - 2017 World's SKT lost to SSG, in that ardent sensor meta, he picked Karma to fully support Bang. Being 0-2 but 4 drakes ahead in game 3, there was still hope for SKT. However, in the last fight, his misposition got caught by Ruler's Varus Flash+R and lost the game, and that is one of the direct reasons why he cried at the end. Now that he is back in the spotlight again, and he knows that there's only one enemy to him - the one watching behind the media crowd.
These are the monsters in their heads. They need to fight these bad memories to become the real King!

I couldn't remember Rookie's story but I watched the other two events happen live (Faker getting caught by Varus ult and Caps getting clapped on Irelia). It's funny you mentioned Faker because as an OG fan, 2015 World's was very memorable for me, although I didn't pay much attention to other groups. I remember LGD being the favorites in our group, basically the Chinese super team, everybody was talking about Imp and godV. I can remember Imp, pyl, godV and tbq because they all had less than 4 letter IGNs. Also, xPeke Quadrakill baby.

7:02 Chrissy Costanza is one of the voices you heard from the "PHOENIX" soundtrack/cinematic. She's in a band called "Against The Current" who was popular in youtube back in the early 2010s. They've also performed "Legends Never Die" back in Worlds 2017. This was not as hype as the rest but would still love to see your reaction to it. Worlds 2017 was the one of my favorites.

I was one of the fortunate ones to be at World 2019 and man was it an experience (Yes, we could see all of the holograms as well live). The opening ceremony blew both me and my mate away when we saw it. Hologram curtains?! Crazy.
I also got to appreciate Chrissy's performances and voice back in the day through covers of popular songs in 2014 and I was so stoked when I heard she was going to be singing "Legends Never Die" in 2017 and "Phoenix" in 2019. Back then, it was quite the change from relatively small crowded performances she and her band performed in to a literal stadium filled with people in 2017, but she stepped up her game massively during that time and set the stage in 2019 during the live performance. It was worth every single penny to be at that finals.
Also, I'm glad I found you guys through YT's recommended feed when you both started with the "Arcane fans react" series. Its been great seeing people fairly new to League be so invested in its universe. Its a gem that keeps on giving.

@@gerbie42 Yeah! Riot released a video called "10 months 10 minutes" that explains that entire concept of bringing animations to life by using specially made "curtains" that reflect light so you can pretty much project images onto it from any side. Because you could see the animations happen from both sides. Me and my mate had seats pretty far up top so we had a perfect "birds eye view" of the whole show

Gosh everytime I see this opening ceremony I get reminded of how hyped I was that the team I cheered for (G2 Esports) was in Worlds finals and that finally we could have brought the trophy in EU for the first time ever (if we don't count the really first season). The atmosphere was great and the fact that they were playing in Paris meant that the majority of people that were attending the final were cheering for G2. Sadly we lost because that was probably the best chance we'll ever have to win Worlds since asian teams started to widen the gap again :(

Phoenix is my favorite Riot's Song of all times...funny that it took me a little time to diggest it, but after I "Understood" the song, I just love it all the way...the lyrics are insane

I dont know if it was mentioned already, but its always a thing that the players are the "Summoners" of the champions and they are like "soul bound" or anything like that when they are in the fight, thats why for example theire eyes glow when the champ does smth or so. In almost every video with the real pro players u will see such transitions.
And they always bring champs and players together which the players are known for beeing very good on them or oftn picking them. Best exmaple is the "Rise video" where Faker is shown as Rise, since he was known as the very best player on him, thats why this video was kinda epic.

You both seem very interested in how they did this performance. Whether its on the channel or in your own time here is a short 22 documentary on how they made the performance how it was. Really think you'll appreciate and enjoy it from a technical aspect.

Long time Lurker..... first time commenter (I think). Love your envelopment of the LoL lore and knowledge of champs, they seem to have made an impression on you! I have been a long-time Stan of Soyeon's Kpop group (G)I-Dle, and would love to see you react to one of their videos. Since you're such a big Soyeon fan, I recommend 'Lion' but there are plenty of choices to dive into. Since she writes and co-produces most of their music, it is quite different than Riot Games Music, but still has a lot of flavor and Soyeon has PRESENCE.
As for your channel, you have positive vibes, glad you can enjoy your experiences together, it really gives positive energy to the YT community!

Chrissy Costanza also performed "Legends never die", the worlds anthem of 2017. She's a huge League fan and streamed the game for years so it was nice to see her getting to perform at worlds twice. Must have been a dream come true.

Its nice to see enjoyment in not only the music but the characters and their world. Seeing as you have enjoyed a couple of the skin line trailers for League of legends. I recommend one i felt does not get enough credit for reactions which is the Project skin trailers for League of legends. One of which features a skin for jinx. But its a ling road to try and watch all the music and video content league currently has, so with that said looking forward to seeing your futher reactions to their universe.

One thing to note, at least in the case of Pop/stars and Giants, the live performance was the actual premiere of the song (and the respective bands). The video was then uploaded afterward within a few minutes of the performance concluding.

Everyone there can actually see what we see viewing. There is a net draped around the stage underneath the screen that the holograms of both the characters and the artist are projected onto. Think I saw something similar for an Olympics ceremony once a long time ago but not this dope

So basically, the stage has a large floor to ceiling mesh around it (usually referred to as a "Holonet" or a "Hologram Gauze"), and video is projected onto it. The projectors are on the ceiling and projecting at a very tight angle so the projection doesn't appear on the performers (you can see the projection leak through onto the floor in some shots).

  • @gabelous5049
    @gabelous5049 2 ปีที่แล้ว

There's usually two ways to identify champions in these videos (when they don't use the full champion). Silhouettes are for when it is more obvious (Lissandra has a very unique one) and for the more humanoid-esque champions they use weapons. There's easily champions to which neither apply, especially since the champions used are usually the pro picks for the previous World's champions. And since the gameplay/balance devs work around professional play (a lot of players will nay-say that but it's the professionals who garner the revenue and budget for Worlds) the champions who appear from season to season will vary. Sometimes greatly since each season usually sees 4 - 6 new champions, and the pros are quick to pick them up if they are viable.

Fun fact. Full name for FPX, the team that actually won that finals, is Fun Plus PHOENIX! How cool is that. And a bit of cruelty from Riot production team: they played "Phoenix" in Worlds2021, when FPX, despite of being a favourite, couldn't make out of the group.

Chrissy Costanza is the lead for a band called Against the Current (ATC), and she/they are really pretty good.
They have a huge list of videos on TH-cam if you want to check them out.
Chrissy also made another splash in the Anime space when she did the vocals for a song featured in My Hero Academia, a series you ought to check out if you haven't already.
NOTE: The english dub version is, surprisingly, REALLY great, which makes it more accessible to the casual fan (like me).
