I liked 11 out of the 100 but I did really enjoy this video it was an interesting look into the music of that time. I hope you do more videos covering the rest of the 80's and beyond. It's a really good format that covers a lot of material in such a short time. I was born in 82 so I'm sue I'll be familiar with mid to later 80's stuff. My love of 80's music has been obviously lifelong and still listening to in 2024 💖
I didn't know The Pretenders recorded "Private Life." I had only heard Grace Jones' version- also from 1980. I thought it was interesting you included two Off Broadway songs on your list but neither was "Stay In Time"- their #51 hit on the Billboard charts in the spring of 1980. I thought that would have been a better choice. I do appreciate you taking the time for the upload. I'm a big 80's music fan and always enjoy new discoveries.
Thanks for your nice comment! The main reason I didn't pick "Stay In Time" is the fact that the album it was on was released in 1979 and their follow up album "Quick Turns" was released in 1980. So therefore I thought it was better to include songs from that one. Once again Thanks for such a nice comment, I really appreciate it!
@@musicfreak3905 Thanks for the clarification on Stay In Time. I didn't know the album was from '79. Looking forward to some more rare finds from the 80's!
@@80sEric Glad to hear as i'm planning on making a similar video for each of the years from the 80s. I'm gonna be posting 1981 this sunday or tomorrow (Monday) :)
Remember (and love) many of these - Sweet Sensation, In the Forest, (I Like) What You're Doing To Me, I Hear Music In the Streets, All My Love, Second Time Around, Fantastic Voyage. Love it!!
Here's some of the forgotten bands. Journey, Santana, Triumph, Pretenders, Foghat, The Knack, J. Buffet, Firefall, Ambrosia, Humble Pie, and Barry Goudreau (of Boston.) About 35 good songs. Thanks for the video.
I consider myself an 80's music aficionado, yet I knew (or remembered) only 2 of these songs/versions , even though I am a fairly big fan of bands like Journey, Triumph, and Eddie Money.
Some great choices, though I have to question whether some of these are really underrated or forgotten. "The Horizontal Bop" is a great song, but if I had to pick a song from that album to call underrated, I'd probably say "Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight". "Tattooed Love Boys" and "Volcano" got some more recent recognition thanks to the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, and both remained favorites among fans of each band. In their place. For an alternative criminally forgotten song from 1980, I'd push for Diesel's "Sausalito Summernight", which doesn't get anywhere near the love it should.
Unusual to have a 100 songs list where i don't think I'd heard of a single one (even though there were a few groups i know quite well!) Seemed to be a good percentage of absolute rubbish though!
underrated ?! the ratings are sufficient. These are certainly no Super Hits. And on the other hand : Even trash from this period is better than the very best of today !
I don't know about any of you listeners. But I just wasted 13 minutes and 27 seconds listening to this rubbish that I will not get back. But to those who love this style of music Funk on forever.
@@musicfreak3905It probably has to include Bradford's tragic heroine Susan Fassbender and her "Twilight Café". (And her guitarist Kay only just died in September).😢
Okay, I have heard only two of the songs played in this entire list. Ambrosia’s You’re The Only Woman & Shalamar’s Second Time Around. They are the only two songs that can even come close to being considered underrated.🙄

Private Life was a track on the Pretenders first album. Grace Jones version is way better.
Twins singing 'Who put the magic in your fingers?' LOL

Ambrosia's "You're the Only Woman" is a classic.

It's amazing............. DOZENS of songs I have NEVER heard of.
I can see why they were NOT hits.
Thanks for this compilation :) discoverd some nice songs i didn't know!..Maybe you get more hits when u include the songs in the description?
Just wanted to let you know that a songs list have been written in the description

Largely forgotten for a reason. A few good 'uns. Hard to believe when you see Theresa and David of Dollar that they hated each other's guts.
Thanks, I remember a few of those.
Please use another font or font colour next time. Some of the artists/titles were hard to read.
Yes I agree it was a pretty bad choice to use yellow on the font! I will definitely use a different font/colour next time!
Disco doing it's best to hang on...
Of these 100, I'm familiar with three of them. But then again, in 1980 I was 8 years old and spent many days outside with friends and farm animals.

Cool songs, los of eurodisco specially from holland, germany i though were american songs in the 80s
Of those artists, some I remember: Patrice rushed Shalimar Leon haywood dynasty as well as lakeside, in fact I have albums from those last two

İ like too much the Disco-Girl trio A La Carte. Thier disco songs was very good, but they was very underrated at the time.
Girlschool were a good band . Their first 2 albums were great . If you like motorhead you'll like girlschool.
Please can you do the 100 forgotten and underrated songs from 1981?
Yes I am gonna do 1981 as well!

@@robertwilloughby8050 Very sad story :(
I'll be sure to include that song!

There’s a band called LAX 😂. Does that mean if you leave the band you become Ex-Lax?

A lot of R&B Disco ie Funk. Brilliant. Otherwise a lot of chessy songs
Cheesy music
Some very good bands, but picked the worst off their album.
80% of the songs in this video are pure cheesy garbage. it is understandable why they are forgotten
I didn’t forget these songs because I never heard them in the first place. All pretty awful
There is a very good reason why these were forgotten. Every last one of them sucked.
You're a moron.
Man, I am SO with you.
I'm not going to call anyone a moron, but neither of you liked any of the songs? Okay, but I question your taste in music. Try to be nice.
@@johnshaner747 Sorry, no hard feelings.
Not true…agree to disagree.
There's quite a liberal usage of "underrated" regarding this list since 75% of these songs are rubbish to begin with...
Well it's subjective at the end of the day.
