Appreciate it thanks! Yeah it does give an idea of what the timeless hits are and what younger generations still go back to, no surprise Queen were so heavily featured i guess. The next specific one of these will be the 1980s. Cheers
@@Media_Ranker Thanks for replying! Honestly Queen deserves it, even if I'm not one of their number 1 fans I'll admit the band changed the game something major. See ya in the next video!
Thank you. 1. Makes sense that there's so many more Rock songs represented than in Billboard's Top 200 singles of the 20th century. a. Many Rock songs were not released as physical singles. b. Before 2000, Rock stations always did better than Pop stations. c. Rock lovers bought the album, not the single.
Cheers Ray, yeah i also think new generations are keeping some of those big bands very successful in this regard, especially Queen! Almost seems like they are still getting even bigger somehow
@Media_Ranker Rage Against the Machine has the #98 position. The highest one of their songs that hit the Top 100 was only #69 for one week, not for the year, let alone the century. Streaming allows some to find great music. Still, in 2024, many don't even have clean water. 🥲

That is actually pretty true lol, i think it regularly gets voted the greatest song ever too. Not for me, as great as it is and Queen are though! Cheers
I think it will be surpassed eventually since there are other songs on this list that gain more stream faster each day than Bohemian Rhapsody including a couple other Queen songs interestingly enough
Definitely the biggest surprise with how many huge songs she has, i wouldnt be surprised if she has the most songs with over 100 million streams or something like that though. Cheers
Iris is such a good song, and Goo Goo Dolls are the most underrated band almost ever. They have covered almost every genre of rock/pop, the main two in the band have been there from the very start, nearly 40 years later and still going stronger than ever. Phenomenal.
Thanks! Yeah sadly in terms of singles sales (especially anything that claims to be global) there really isnt any reliably accurate stats from the previous century. Or at least not with public access, so streams are a good way to go.
Yeah as i was making it i kept thinking if i should go to further and further down, this was originally going to be a top 100. I could maybe do a part 2 and do 400-200 but then i would need to do that soon in case the numbers start overtaking songs on this video at the time of recording the stats. Cheers

Yeah i did think that, cause actually Bon Scott was born in England too, but they are both down as just Australian bands. Not dual nationality bands like the others that are British/American or British/Australian. Cheers
@@Media_Ranker What about America, they were formed in London and while all the members were of American descent, all were raised in England, one even born there. And when A Horse with no Name was released, the band were still based in England.
@@n1thmusic229 Yeah i guess they could be considered both, usually it will have american-british or british-american though and it doesnt for them, as individuals or the band itself. Maybe they just consider themselves American overall? Cheers
Faith in humanity restored! I'm happy to see how most of these are good songs. A few mediocre ones here and there, but mostly good. Furthermore, good to see that there's not that many pop and hip hop songs that were popular briefly. Mostly classics within rock and other genres. As a Swede, I was surprised to see no Roxette or Europe though. I totally expected The Final Countdown to be top 20.
Thanks for watching! From what i remember It Must Have Been Love was very close actually and The Final Countdown just a bit further behind, they were both over 600m streams i think.
honestly pop music, hip hop & gangster rap pre 2005 was brilliant like theres been very few good artists in those genres lately but back then basically all of them were
@@justbread4570 Can't add much to that. I'm not familiar with those genres. I've heard pop of course and some hip hop. But just the famous songs. I would say though I'm under the impression that pop used to be better. Like in the 80s and 90s especially.
@@DanSmeed i firmly believe 80s & 90s pop was rly good it kinda died around 2010 its very generic now unfortunately, and we dont rly have big controversial names anymore, much like most music now too safe, too manufactured
@@justbread4570 Hasn't pop always been manufactured to a large extent though? Like artists not writing their own songs and everything being styled by record company employees. Everyone isn't like that. But if you compare to other genres there's certainly a greater number of musicians within for example rock and metal who write their own songs and so on.
"Every Breath You Take" by The Police was the #1 hit of '83 and from birth to after I turned 18 I lived in 83 County (Garfield County). 1983 was the Centennial of my hometown (Burwell, Nebraska) in 83 county (platted in 1883 - interestingly there is an old west tv series called 1883 that was released recently).
Actually yeah thats true i think its just when we refer to him its always him solo (i mean in conversation not as it is here) but in the end you are right for that i should have had both flags. Cheers
All time 200 would likely be made up of a lot of songs from 2010-present day, thats why ive spread it out with 20th Century, 2000s and then i will being 2010-2024. But after that i might do top 400 of all time or something. Cheers
This list is missing Ahora Te Puedes Marchar by Luis Miguel. It's from the 80's and should be just below T.N.T. by AC/DC if these numbers are from 5 July 2024.
Yeah theres no german accent at all in his singing voice is there lol. Check out my 80 Huge songs people didnt know were by Brits video, some may surprise you there too. Cheers
Estamos de acuerdo que las canciones de Michael Jackson merecen de estar mas arriba del top, merecen mas reproducciones Pd: grandes canciones en lo general del top
Unless I missed them, there are a quite a few songs missing on that list that I thought would be on it. There were also a few artists that were either missing completely from that list, or they had fewer songs on thst list than I thought there would be e.g. The Beatles, Eminem, Madonna etc.
In terms of you know their spotify numbers and they should be, or just big songs you would expect? Yeah Madonna was the most surprising, not having one song but she did have some around the half a billion range, so close! Yeah i would have thought The Beatles would have had more too and Eminem was right at the end of the 90s when he started, check out my 2000s version of this, he is heavily featured. Cheers
@@Media_Ranker Oh well. I thought Eminem had at least another album pre 2000. "My name is" is one of his bigger tunes though. Obviously not popular enough to make the list.
@@jaysmith2858 Yeah his very first album didnt do much but The Slim Shady LP had My Name Is on it and that was released in 1999, it was very close i think. Somewhere around 600m streams from what i remember. Cheers
Lol yeah it is interesting that some of the really massive songs overall dont have the streaming numbers to match, or at least relatively speaking as you are saying. Streaming is definitely its own thing when it comes to this i guess. Cheers
You put BeeGees as half Australian because they lived in Australia for a bit, but you put Bryan Adans as Canadian yet he lived in UK for a large part of his life
Bee Gees are listed as both nationalities, and based on comments on over videos they are a lot of people who still consider them completely Australian believe it or not lol. But Bryan Adams is only listed as Canadian...so many of these big artists could have more than one it turns out! lol cheers
This list is simply amazing. How it takes into account all genres and just shows something that feels right in some way. Are these really the numbers in order of most streamed?

What a surprise, Queen and Bohemia Rapsody got it, I wish I was as sure as winning the lottery
only thing wrong was i had queen at 8 (well TBH queen 8 +1 with bowie)
shocked that jacko only had 4
nice to see AC/DC and CCR well reped (no proud mary?)
A+ video!
LOVE IT! What awesome songs, I remember all of them!
Thanks, yeah all iconic songs, i was happy they covered multiple genres too!

This list says it all, Queen on No. 1, No. 5., No. 9 etc. The greatest band of all time, period.
Queen has nothing on Ween
no...
Beatles. The first group that started filling stadiums. And the biggest ones were filled
I wouldn't say it's the best band, but definitely a good one
theyre good but the beatles are leagues better

3:11 The Bodyguard 👎👎👎👎
Thanks for doing this! We all have those big songs we hate for whatever reason lol. Cheers

Michael Jackson ❤
…that again was great editing, mad respect! I only have 1 song on my iTunes Library on my phone and it has over 2K songs on it. That’s why I have not gone down the way of streaming
Appreciate it thanks! Yeah fair enough that makes sense
Thanks for compiling this. My ultimate fave is of course the number one band 😁
Thanks for watching. It was only ever going to be that really wasnt it!
ok bohemian rhapsody is #1 on everything tbh
That is actually pretty true lol, i think it regularly gets voted the greatest song ever too. Not for me, as great as it is and Queen are though! Cheers
I think it will be surpassed eventually since there are other songs on this list that gain more stream faster each day than Bohemian Rhapsody including a couple other Queen songs interestingly enough
Great compilation. 👏I can't believe Madonna isn't on there. She ruled the charts in the 1980s.
Definitely the biggest surprise with how many huge songs she has, i wouldnt be surprised if she has the most songs with over 100 million streams or something like that though. Cheers
Exactly. Not even "Like a Virgin", "La Isla Bonita", "Vogue" or "Like a Prayer", which are super popular to this day
I Love it when you call me Big Poppa...Damn, so refreshing to hear something different after all of the classic rock songs
Yeah that was a nice change up actually i thought that too, i love all these songs but its good they werent all one genre/type. Cheers
One Banger after another 🔥
Yeah, every song becomes even nicer when you hear it.
This is called wine music.
Iris is such a good song, and Goo Goo Dolls are the most underrated band almost ever. They have covered almost every genre of rock/pop, the main two in the band have been there from the very start, nearly 40 years later and still going stronger than ever. Phenomenal.
8:04 i didn't expect to get rickrolled
Turns out people choose to listen to it a fair amount too lol it is a fun pop song in the end! Thanks for watching
I am indian but i love Roxette, Avril Lavigne, scorpion, bon jovi, metallic, the Cranberries ❤
I love seeing Wham! and George Michael preforming so well
Thank you so much for this video. Finally a good video on this topic that has accurate statistics.
Thanks! Yeah sadly in terms of singles sales (especially anything that claims to be global) there really isnt any reliably accurate stats from the previous century. Or at least not with public access, so streams are a good way to go.
Great video. No surprise for no1, but top 10 was interesting. Truly, not one bad song in the 200.
Thanks. Yeah this was a better mix than i expected before looking up the list too actually!
great video!!! nirvana's lithium barely missed the list by 10M
Yeah as i was making it i kept thinking if i should go to further and further down, this was originally going to be a top 100. I could maybe do a part 2 and do 400-200 but then i would need to do that soon in case the numbers start overtaking songs on this video at the time of recording the stats. Cheers
@@Media_Ranker cheers! i could tell a lot of work was put into this, and its a fun format. would love to see it return soon :)
I really love most of them. Really really .thanks ❤
Thanks for watching
Great video! Made me remember many classics!😊
Thanks for watching, so many timeless ones here isnt there!
Recently discovered your channel and I’m glad I did. Keep putting out these awesome videos 😎
Cheers Spencer! Lots of videos to come, next one will be every UK chart number 1 of the 1970s. Thanks for watching

It definitely won't i think the longevity and legacy has already been proven hasn't it. Cheers
Early access to 'Top 200 Most Streamed Songs Of The 1990s' on my Patreon now! - www.patreon.com/MediaRanker
- Spotify streaming numbers as of 5th July 2024
- Dates are the songs original release dates, all songs released before the end of 1999.
- Total songs per nation will come to over 200 overall, just because of the ones that have dual nationalities - Foreigner, Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac
Wouldn't AC/DC and Men At Work also count for the UK. The lead singers from both Australia bands were born in the UK
Cheers
bro, 2000 is still 20th century
I just realized that I know every Queen song in here 😭
Faith in humanity restored!
From what i remember It Must Have Been Love was very close actually and The Final Countdown just a bit further behind, they were both over 600m streams i think.
honestly pop music, hip hop & gangster rap pre 2005 was brilliant
like theres been very few good artists in those genres lately but back then basically all of them were
@@justbread4570 Can't add much to that. I'm not familiar with those genres. I've heard pop of course and some hip hop. But just the famous songs. I would say though I'm under the impression that pop used to be better. Like in the 80s and 90s especially.
@@DanSmeed i firmly believe 80s & 90s pop was rly good
it kinda died around 2010
its very generic now unfortunately, and we dont rly have big controversial names anymore, much like most music now
too safe, too manufactured
@@justbread4570 Hasn't pop always been manufactured to a large extent though? Like artists not writing their own songs and everything being styled by record company employees. Everyone isn't like that. But if you compare to other genres there's certainly a greater number of musicians within for example rock and metal who write their own songs and so on.
America are/were a British/American band. They formed in London in 1970.
Yeah i didnt realise they were a dual nationality band actually, when i do the 70s version of this ill make sure to put both flags for them. Cheers
I love it. Could you do it the same by decades? 90s? 80s? 70s? 60s?
Definitely planning to, probably the 80s first i think. Cheers
78 songs (now even more) with +1000M plays
4 songs with +2000M plays
"Every Breath You Take" by The Police was the #1 hit of '83 and from birth to after I turned 18 I lived in 83 County (Garfield County).
1983 was the Centennial of my hometown (Burwell, Nebraska) in 83 county (platted in 1883 - interestingly there is an old west tv series called 1883 that was released recently).
Thank you for this video ☺️
Thanks for watching!
All our earworms. 🎶❤️
It feels strange how people were living their lives listening to these songs before I was born🤔🤔
Ambitionz az a tidal having that many streams is wild😳
i was gonna complain about how i don't see enough rap on here until i saw fugees and 2pac lol
Ahhh finally a list for me
Thanks for watching!
Great list ❤ wondering what the top 2000s songs list will be like, but anyway I really like your videos 🙌🏻
Thanks, definitely going to do that soon i think. Cheers
I'm from Seattle, and I felt a lot of local pride when I saw Smells Like Teen Spirit was number three.
I expected a lot more MJ, since he was the biggest human being of all time, but this list is still pretty good.
That was what surprised me the most actually i think! You would think his streaming numbers would be crazy. Cheers

Great video, now do one on the top 19th Century songs. If there even are 200 songs from the 19th Century on Spotify...

that song woukd be once a day at least
Great songs!

Toto ❤❤
Wonderwall yes!
All of tham are so wonderful and loved by us all
Not a big fan on hip hop or whatever you call it but there were some fantastic tracks on that list. Bohemian Rhapsody is something special though.
Dire Straits! ❤
The Jimi Hendrix Experience was a three piece with 2 Brits in the group!
Actually yeah thats true i think its just when we refer to him its always him solo (i mean in conversation not as it is here) but in the end you are right for that i should have had both flags. Cheers
America was formed in England and one of the members is British, so it should count as British-American.
11:04 one of my favourite song ❤
I need this all time
All time 200 would likely be made up of a lot of songs from 2010-present day, thats why ive spread it out with 20th Century, 2000s and then i will being 2010-2024. But after that i might do top 400 of all time or something. Cheers
This list is missing Ahora Te Puedes Marchar by Luis Miguel. It's from the 80's and should be just below T.N.T. by AC/DC if these numbers are from 5 July 2024.
Yeah somebody else mentioned that, my mistake i missed that one! Cheers

14:42 most devious song change
i've been laughing at this for far too long
Estamos de acuerdo que las canciones de Michael Jackson merecen de estar mas arriba del top, merecen mas reproducciones
Pd: grandes canciones en lo general del top
Yeah youd think Michael Jackson would have many songs over a billion streams actually wouldnt you! Cheers
Battle Stations from Bill and Ted's bogus journey epic
Cheers
Mariah on number 10 is enough for me, the only solo female singer in the top 10🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Paul Stanley do Kiss 🇧🇷🇧🇷❤❤
I feel like some songs have fake streams, in no world is "you make my dreams" more famous than "stayin alive", that was really funny.
But Bryan Adams is only listed as Canadian...so many of these big artists could have more than one it turns out! lol cheers
Can you do the movie songs lists for decades? from 1930 s to the 2000 s?
Most streamed movie songs? yeah thats a good idea actually, cheers
@@Media_Ranker no i meant top movie songs for 80s in one video, 90 s for other..for every decade.but you can do streamed, if that suits you more..
Really nice. (Most).
Thanks!
Por fin un ranking con tremendas canciones....
Queen is my favourite band and they had the best singer ever
Pixies almost made it to the top 100. That would have been cool.
This list is simply amazing. How it takes into account all genres and just shows something that feels right in some way. Are these really the numbers in order of most streamed?
Thanks, yeah streaming numbers as of early July this year. The next one of these i do will be the 80s i think
I still can't believe so many people are listening
So many timeless classics i think, songs the younger generations keep discovering too! Thanks for watching
