I hate these countdowns when the writers aren't really sure what "one-hit wonder" means. Animotion, Murray Head, Martika, Eddie Murphy, Don Johnson (duet w/ Barbara Streisand), Quarterflash, and Cutting Crew all had at least one other top 30 hit in the US. Just because the author isn't really aware of that fact doesn't mean the performer suddenly becomes a one-hit wonder.
agree. And also. Many of these were no wonders at all in my opinion. There are many much better hits than the ones presented here. But I don't have the energy to make the compilation though.
Well that even admitted with Animotion that they had other hits. Room To Move went to #9. But one hit wonder has lost all meaning. And Dexy's had several hits in the UK.

Love it too! 😊
This should have been on the list for sure
@@NikkiP-bx2lgthey weren’t a one hit wonder.
@@50sRockChick what were their other hits?
It's so hard to pick a favorite ❤️ Love them all!
All these music brings fantastic memories
Don’t need anyone blabbing, just do the countdown.

Indeed!
The 80's is my favourite decade for music, there's so many oldies which are certainly goodies. My top tunes are "Come On Eileen", "Just Died in Your Arms", and "Tarazan Boy."
Take My Breath Away.
The movie Top Gun, a classic.
The group is called Berlin
And I believe the lyrics were partially (or wholly) written by David Gilmoure of Pink Floyd.
Berlin also had a hit with No More Words.
I loved the 80's. 1985 was a great year for me, and Walkin On Sunshine was always on the radio.
I remember Quarterflash well!! Their original name was Seafood Mama. My sister and I used to watch them play in the clubs in Portland, Oregon. We also used to watch Nu Shooz. I thought for sure that they would be on this list with their song, I Can't Wait. It was a HUGE hit in the clubs before it was ever cut as a record!! Good memories!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I never dreamed that my clubbing in the late 70's through the 80's would one day turn into AARP and Social Security!!! 🤣🤣🤣 We were so cool 😎 back 🔙 then. Getting old was NEVER a thought in our minds!! 🤦♀️
Nu-shooz also had a hit with Point Of No Return not to be confused with the Expose song of the same name.
Great list. I was a teen in the 80's. remember Animotion facing the wrath of Tipper Gore and the anti-smut groups for their sexy lyrics.
I've never forgotten them, or how awesome they were!
Whoever writes for these videos kudos to you. It is not easy to write a script for music video reviews without repeating yourself several times. Your writing is fresh, original, and descriptive. Whoever does it deserves a raise. Well done!
It’s AI produced and presented buddy
Those are great songs. We were lucky to live in this time. ❤
GenX keeps these songs alive.
Maria Magdalena ❤️
💥 Great selection ! I'm so happy I was a teenager in the 80s. Life was so enjoyable. 🥰🥰
I love the 80's. Even though I wasn't born yet! Thanks VH1 Classic!
I'm so old omg I wish I could go back those were the best years of my life the whole 1980's we will never get that back .life sucks now
Let the Music Play -- I always found that song compelling. Great choice
Yes!! Also Shannon 'Give Me Tonight'
@@sueellenwalsh1326 I have that 12" maxi single. I like both of Shannon's hits, but I like GMT better.
Men Without Hats- Safety Dance-fave. C'mon, Eillen- least favorite
Great list, 3/4 of these songs are on my favorites list and on constant rotation.
80’s is the most I listen to for music. I love the 80’s
80s baby here, '83 this hits nearing my 41 birthday on the 17th this month, grew up with listening to these songs ❤️
Happy Early Birthday!, My older sister by three years and I were each born in 1982 and 1985(me).
Happy Birthday! I was born in the 70s, but grew up on the 80s music, all of this, and especially metal.
Cutting Crew had also "I've been in love before"
And "One For The Mockingbird".
We didn’t forget these songs were awesome. We just didn’t want to publicly admit we thought many of these songs were awesome 😂😂😂
Loved Shannon”Let the music play ❤
As usual, some folks just don't understand what the term "One Hit Wonder" means. But at least this list does better than most others.
As an 80's kid, wish I had appreciated the moment more back then.
How should we know that this was not standard and worse times will be ahead?
Not all these one hit wonders are forgotten.
I have never once seen a list of one-hit-wonders that was accurate.
@@oysteinsoreide4323 That is pretty ridiculous. I don't like a lot of these songs either, but it's silly to say they were not hits.
@ I never said they weren't hits. I just said I didn't like the picks and to my ears sounded meh. A couple of exceptions of course. Even if they were hits, they may be bad picks nonetheless.
I can't be the only one who still hears Quarterflash and thinks its Pat Benetar, at least for a few seconds
Until she plays the sax, lol
I didn't forget any of these. I played most of them when I was a radio DJ in the 80s.
I hear these songs all the time on 97.3 BOOM FM. I'm still stuck in the 80's, I didn't know these songs became 1 hit wonders.
Toronto... dude... wish I could pick it up. Sounds like my kind of radio station! Lucky you!
Loved these songs! 68 from Southern California! 😊
I love 80s music ❤❤❤
Whenever you see a young Don Johnson, its hard to ignore how his Daughter Dakota is his "clone."🥰
Listening to these songs takes me back to my teenage years ..time flies too fast.
I remember "Harden my heart". I was only 8 years old..!! WoW..!! I couldn't fall asleep at night, unless i had music playing..!!
My HS and College years, I love the 80s. What a time of music and fun!
Great compilation.
I particularly liked the ITALO DISCO part at 16:27.
You explained this 80ies DISCO phenomenon from Italy very well.
Dang, the emotions this music brings back....I miss you 80's girls. 🥲❤
I miss the 80s so much !!
I just love 80's music! This was a pretty good roundup of many hits.
I’d like to purchase this playlist. This is the embodiment of my childhood.
Look up all the songs and make a playlist on your phone.
And let me just say, I had that entire Party All The Time album.. Eddie Murphy CAN sing.. the album was good.. & RIP Patrick.. you were one talented, good looking fella.. we miss you..
The 80s was such a great decade.
80’s music was so good. The first single I bought was Break My Stride.
